The Maiden and The Four Waters -
Chapter Twenty- Seven
Exel stretched as he rose from the chair, he noticed the sun rising from the window as he thoughts distracted him.
Prayers ran through his mind as he looked at the woman in the bed, the woman he had grown to love as they aged together.
Both only quiet young, both only eighteen.
He would’ve loved her until the last dying breath if she had allowed him.
Exel stepped over to the window as he looked down at the village, they had quietened down over the past five days.
He watched as adults tried to hush children, he watched as men barely spoke to each other as they passed by.
Exel noticed the brothel all closed up.
Just like him, they were all waiting. Waiting for a sign of life.
