Chapter 1458 What Is This Place
After everything that had been discussed, Uriel left the hall first.
"Tessa, you're lucky enough that you were able to merge with a martial spirit on your first journey to the Martial Spirit Graveyard. Hence, you must work hard from now on. You can't waste such a rare opportunity." Harrison wore a serious look as he tried to encourage her daughter.
"I will, Father. Don't worry. You can expect that I won't let you down. Besides, I can't let Basil surpass me again. It'll be too embarrassing for me. So, if there's nothing else, I will go back now and have a rest." Then, Tessa made a mischievous face and left before her father could say something more.
"What happened to my girl?!" Harrison said as he shook his head. He knew that her daughter was quite the stubborn type but he discerned that there was something else that changed about her. After thinking for a while, he told himself, "Since Basil came, Tessa has become more ambitious and competitive. If only she isn't engaged to Miguel, I may even think that Basil is more suitable for her. Moreover, I can see that those two are extremely close. Now, I'm worried that those two might suddenly fall in love with each other! Oh, what am I going to do? It will be a huge headache for me!"
Meanwhile, Rocky and Ramon walked together on their way back. Neither of them seemed to be in the mood for a small talk, and the atmosphere was a little dull.
However, when they were about to part ways, Ramon couldn't help but ask, "Hey, Basil. Did you encounter something after you drew away all those martial spirits? Why do I feel like you've suddenly become a different person when you came back? Did something happen to you?"
"Do you think so?" Rocky asked as if feigning ignorance.
Ramon just stared at him and slightly nodded.
"Wow, I didn't expect that you're going to see through me. Well, to tell you the truth, it's because I've also fused with a martial spirit," Rocky said in a soft voice. He was actually telling half of the truth. While he did fuse with a martial spirit, the whole truth was a bit complicated.
"What?! Are you serious? How did you even do that?" Ramon was stunned upon hearing what Rocky said. He was having a hard time believing him because it was known to be almost impossible for a warrior to fuse with a martial spirit without it being bound first.
"Shh, not so loud. Captain, please keep it a secret. I don't want anyone else to know for the time being. You know that I might only get into trouble if the wrong people knew," Rocky said in a meaningful tone.
"Yeah, I get it. But really? You're not lying to me? You were able to merge with a martial spirit on your own?" Ramon asked, still in utter disbelief.
"Come on now. Why would I even lie to you? You know that you're one of the few people that I can share my secrets with," Rocky said with a faint smile.
"I just didn't expect you to be so lucky." Eventually, Ramon was convinced that Rocky should be telling the truth, although it was still a mystery to him how the young man did it. He speculated that there must be some more details that Rocky didn't tell him.
Regardless of how he did it, now that Rocky had fused with a martial spirit, it was such a huge breakthrough. It was just normal for Ramon to be envious of him.
"Don't worry. I will also replace you a suitable martial spirit when I get the chance. I can promise you that," Rocky said with a straight face. In his opinion, Ramon might be a bit dull and a little bit too old-fashioned, but he had a loyal and chivalrous heart. Moreover, he really thought that he was right to befriend him.
"You don't need to console me. I know that it's not easy for you to meet the martial spirit that you fused with. Besides, we still have to wait until next year in order to enter the graveyard again. Anyway, thank you for offering your help." For Ramon, what Rocky said was just wishful thinking, so he didn't take it too seriously.
"Well, who said that we can only catch a martial spirit in the Martial Spirit Graveyard?" Rocky said as he let out a cunning smile. If he let out all the martial spirits that he stored within his Magic Spiritual Space, he would probably scare the hell out of Ramon.
"What are you saying? There are other ways to catch a martial spirit?" Ramon asked as he narrowed his eyes.
"Well, something like that, but I can't tell you exactly how. However, if you do me a favor, I can promise to get you your own martial spirit," Rocky said in a scheming tone.
"Fine. I can help you. Just be sure to hold the end of your bargain," Ramon said seriously. Although he didn't like Rocky before, they got along these past several days and his impression of the young man had also changed a lot. Especially when he deliberately risked his life just to let Tessa properly merge with the martial spirit, he had to admit that Rocky was a nice person. It was just that there were a lot of mysteries surrounding the guy.
"All right. It's a deal. Help me with something first; then we can talk about the martial spirit later." Rocky knew how Ramon could be so stubborn, so he had somehow learned how to deal with him. "So, what do you want me to do?" Ramon asked straightforwardly.
"It's not that actually a great favor. I just want you to inquire about something for me," Rocky said.
"Okay. What is it about? Just go ahead and tell me directly." Ramon's eyes started to narrow, assuming that what Rocky wanted might not be that easy to investigate.
"It's about the captives of the human race and the spiritual race that the Shura Race caught in an alien land about a few months ago. I want to know where they are now," Rocky said as he wore an expression that Ramon had never seen before. He wasn't even frowning or anything, but just the look in Rocky's eyes showed a hair-raising coldness.
"Why do you want to know about such things?" Ramon couldn't help but look at Rocky in utter confusion. He didn't imagine that this was what he wanted to know. For him, this matter shouldn't have anything to do with Rocky.
"I have my own reason, and unfortunately, I can't tell you that. If you can't help, it's fine. I won't force you," Rocky said flatly, fully knowing that he couldn't tell anyone about the truth yet, not even to Ramon. "It's not that I don't want to. But if you really want to know some information about the Shura Race, it will be very hard to obtain. After all, it is very difficult for the people in the Ethereal Region to get in touch with the members of the Shura Race. However, from what I heard around, usually, those captives are being sent to the battlefront," Ramon said with a gloomy expression.
"The battlefront? Why? What are they making the captives do there?" Rocky asked with furrowed brows.
"Once in every few years, the Shura Race fights both the human race and the spiritual race of this land. However, because they are short in members, they capture other races from another land, bring them back here, and train them. After that, they will send them into the battlefront to fight for them. However, most of the time, those prisoners don't last long in the battlefield..." Ramon explained.
"I see." Rocky suddenly gritted his teeth upon hearing what Ramon said. If everything he heard was true, then Marcia and everyone from the Wild Spirit Land should be in huge trouble right now.
"I can see that you really want to know more. I will try my best to help you, but I can't guarantee the extent of the information that I can get," Ramon said after thinking for a while. "Thank you. I really appreciate it," Rocky said as he bowed slightly.
"It's nothing. After all, we have a deal and I intend to do my part. If that's all, I'll go ahead." Then, Ramon turned around and eventually left.
Afterward, Rocky also went back to the beast farm to study the Scarlet Heaven Jade that he had recently acquired, as well as the Spiritual Infant that he had just cultivated.
"Hmm. I wonder how this jade is being used. I can clearly feel the overwhelming power contained in it, but how can I utilize it and make it mine?" Rocky murmured to himself as he intently examined the jade in his hand.
Out of nowhere, a scene flashed through Rocky's mind. It was like a space that was similar to the Magic Spiritual Space, but he perceived that it was more of a place for cultivation.
"What is this place?" Rocky's eyes squinted as he stared closely at the jade.
As he drew nearer to inspect it further, Rocky suddenly felt a sensation that he was being pulled into the jade. However, it was too late when he realized that it was really happening.
In the blink of an eye, Rocky found himself in the mysterious space that appeared in his mind just now.
"The structure of this place is really similar to that of the Magic Spiritual Space. However, the spiritual energy present here is unusually enormous. I guess that it should be a natural place for cultivation." As soon as he arrived at the place, Rocky felt the strange sensation that the mysterious place gave off. Then, upon looking through the area, he immediately found that countless stone tablets were standing around.
