The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 12

Alpha Ryan POV

It’s been six months since she disappeared. I’ve sent out my best trackers, to hunt her down and bring her back, but nothing. They can’t seem to pickup her scent anywhere, It’s like she vanished.

I sent out four of my top warriors a couple days ago, to search the human city and they never came back, something must of happened. I wonder if they found something, they should of return by now.

I was getting frustrated with each day that went by, that I didn’t have her in my possession.

How is she hiding from me so well? Maybe another pack took her in?

I really wanted to avoid, bringing her up to other Alphas. She’s special and I know I’m not the only one, who would want to get their hands on her, at the same time, I’m getting desperate and I need to replace her. I think it’s time that I call the other pack Alphas and see if they have any helpful information, that could help me replace her.

I called several of the Alphas and got nothing. The last one on my list, was Alpha Colton. I hate the guy and am dreading the fact, that I need to call him. We’ve never gotten along and I’m almost certain, that even if he has seen her, he wouldn’t tell me.

I still made the call and I was a little surprised, when he asked me how she went missing. I mean, it could of just been a simple question, but I got the feeling that he was curious, for other reasons.

I quickly made up a story, that she had assaulted one of my warriors and ran away. He seemed to believe it and didn’t ask me any further questions.

We ended the phone call, with him telling me that he would contact me, if he sees or hears from her.

I was feeling even more frustrated, after hearing that assholes voice. I know he won’t call me, even if he does know where she is.

If someone has her, I won’t hesitate to start a war and take back what belongs to me.

I made my way down to the dungeon of my pack house, I think it’s time to pay Bethany a visit.

The dungeon is dark and gloomy, has the smell of death and because it’s below ground, it’s extremely cold. The walls are made of stone and the bars are laced with silver, preventing any supernatural creatures from escaping.

I walked over to a cell, at the very far end of the hall. I found Beth laying on the floor in the corner cell, still chained to the wall. She has been in this very cell, for six months now. I’ve tortured her daily and she still won’t speak. I know that she has information that could help me, but she’s proven to be difficult to break.

“Wake up Beth, let’s have a chat.” I said, in a deep sinister voice.

She didn’t budge. I wasn’t surprised, lately she barely even screams out while I torture her, it’s as if she’s given up on her life. It probably has something to do, with the fact that I kill her mate, right in front of her eyes, it would make sense that she’s lost some of her will to survive.

That won’t stop me from torturing her though, I take pleasure in others pain, specially hers. Her and her husband, betrayed me in the worst possible way. He was my Beta, the person who should of been the most loyal to me.

I unlocked the cell door and walked over to the corner, where she was laying asleep. I reached down and grabbed a hand full of her hair, before pulling her up roughly so that she was facing me. I heard a yelp leave her lips at the sudden action.

Our eyes met and I gave her a vicious smile, but I could see no emotions on her face, she had always been good at hiding them. It infuriated me, I wanted her to be fearful, yet she always looked so strong and unbreakable.

“Where is she?” I asked sternly, but she didn’t reply.

“You’re not doing yourself any favours by keeping quiet, you know that?” I spoke, in dangerously calm voice.

“f**k you!” She spat out, this time I could see venom in her eyes.

“Have it your way.” I replied and punched her in the abdomen. She buckled over in pain, but not a sound left her lips, not even a whimper. That just fuelled my anger.

I tortured her for hours, until she was unconscious and still she remained silent.

I left her cell, I was filled with so much rage, like every other day over the past six months, my inability to break Beth, has been eating me alive. I need to figure out a way to get her to talk, if I had been smart, I would of kept her mate alive and used him against her to get my answers.

Jessica POV

After that guy, who calls himself Alpha Colton, left my room, I had a million more questions in my head. I started to pace around anxiously, thinking over everything he told me.

Did I really know, that Alpha Ryan guy, before I went into a coma? I wonder, if he was telling the truth, when he said that I assaulted someone? Is Alpha Colton, really going to hand me over?

I was panicking, feeling completely alone and desperate to get out of here.

What happens if Alpha Colton, hands me over to the Alpha Ryan guy? How would he punish me?

My thoughts were getting the better of me and I was scared. I have to get out of here, before Alpha Colton hands me over.

I started thinking of ways that I could possibly escape. I wonder if I could get Josh, to take me outside for some fresh air. I feel bad using him, but he’s my only option at this point. He’s the only one, who’s shown me any kindness and I think he wouldn’t hesitate in taking me outside for a short while, if I asked him.

Hours had a past and I sat on my bed thinking of my plan, hoping that I could pull it off. It would require me hurting Josh, but I have no other choice. If I stay here, I’m going to be handed over to another crazy Alpha man, who plans on punishing me and I don’t want to replace out how.

I was distracted by a knock at the door.

I stood from the bed and anxiously waited, to see who was there.

The door opened and Josh stood there, with a friendly smile on his face and a tray of food in his hands. I let out a breath of relief, when I saw that it was Josh and not Alpha Colton.

“Hungry?” He asked, in a cheerful tone, as he walked into the room and brought the tray over to the coffee table. He set the tray down and took a seat on the couch.

“Very.” I replied, with my own friendly smile.

I walked over and sat down in the armchair, across from him. I looked at the tray and saw that he brought me a bowl of beef stew, with a crusty bun and a glass of water.

“This smells delicious, thank you.” I said sincerely, as I reached for the bowl.

“Did Alpha Colton, come to speak with you.” Josh asked, curiously.

“Yes he did.” I replied nervously.

“Do you remember someone by the name, Alpha Ryan?” He asked, with a curious frown.

“No I don’t, but I’m not a violent person, there’s no way I assaulted someone, not unless they attacked me first. What he accused me of, can’t be true.” I blurted out, desperate for someone to believe me.

“I believe you.” Josh said, while giving me a small sad smile.

“What’s going to happen to me now? Is your friend going to hand me over?” I asked, I couldn’t help the panic from seeping into my voice.

“No I don’t think so, not right now anyway. Josh replied, with a concerned frown.

I let out a small sigh of relief, hearing that he doesn’t plan on handing me over right away, it gives me a little time to get out of here. I don’t want to rush my plan, Josh can’t suspect anything, or he definitely won’t take me outside.

“I was wondering, if you have any books that I could borrow? It’s pretty lonely in here.” I asked, in a soft voice. I was testing him, to see how he would respond to my request.

“Absolutely, I can head to the library right now. What kind of books do you enjoy?” He replied, with a big smile.

“Anything really, paranormal, thrillers, cheesy romances, I just want something that will pass the time.” I replied, with an appreciative smile.

“Ok, let me see what I can replace, I’ll be right back.” Josh said, as he stood from the couch.

“Thank you Josh, for everything.” I said sincerely. He nodded his head, before leaving my room.

This is good, he didn’t even hesitate to grant my request. There’s a strong chance that he would also grant my request to get fresh air, if that happens, it will be the perfect opportunity for me to make a break for it and take my freedom back.

Ten minutes passed and I heard the lock on the door click, before it opened. Josh stood on the other side, holding a dozen books in his hands.

“I brought you a bit of everything, that way you have options. When you’re done with these, let me know and I’ll switch them out for new ones.” He said, with his usual friendly smile.

“Thank you.” I replied, as I walked over to the door and took the books from his hands.

“Do you need anything else? If not, I’ll let you be and head into my own room.” Josh asked.

“No that’s all, thanks again Josh.” I said, feeling grateful for his kindness.

“You’re welcome, have a good night.” Josh said and closed the door, before I heard the lock click.

I walked over to the couch and put the books down on the coffee table, next to the tray of food. I picked up the bowl of stew and continued to eat, as I planned out my escape.

I think that Josh, is unknowingly going to help me escape. I definitely feel guilty at what I have planned, but it’s my only option, I can’t stay here.
