The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 14
Jessica POV
I waited outside the front doors of the apartment building, for what felt like hours, but in reality was only minutes. I saw the elevators doors open in the lobby and Sam came out of it, she ran towards me, looking both worried and excited to see me.
She opened the front doors and jumped into my arms, engulfing me in a hug.
“Oh my god Jessica, are you ok?” She asked, sounding worried.
“I’m fine Sam, I’ll tell you all about my hell, when we get up to our apartment.” I replied, as she pulled away from the hug and looked at my face. I offered her a smile, but she was so concerned, she didn’t return it.
We walked over to the elevator and got in, Sam pressed the 19 floor button and the doors closed, before the elevator started to move.
“Jessica, where have you been, you just disappeared?” Sam asked, with a concerned frown, clearly not patient enough to wait, until we reached the apartment.
“I know, I can’t even wrap my own head around what happened. I finished work on Friday and was walking home, when I was on the trail in the wooded area, four wolves started stalking me and I ran deeper into the forest, trying to get away from them. The wolves actually caught up to me and bit my shoulder, injuring me to the point, that I passed out.” I said and glanced over to see that her eyes were wide in shock.
Telling the story to Sam, reminded me of my shoulder injury and with everything that was going on, I failed to notice that it had already healed. I wonder what kind of magical drugs those people gave me, for it to be completely gone, that’s almost impossible.
The elevator dinged and the doors opened on the 19th floor. We both walked over to our apartment and Sam opened the door for us to go inside. She looked mortified with the beginning of my story.
“What happened after that?” Sam asked, before the front door was even closed. I told her the rest of the story, she didn’t say anything at first, she just looked shocked and in disbelief. I gave her a few minutes, so she could process everything.
“What the hell kind of cult are those people running, that’s insane Jessica. Thank god you got out of there, before they drank your b***d, or gang raped you, or- – -“ Sam started to say and her tone was getting more and more panicked, as she thought about what could of happened to me. I decided to cut her off.
“Nothing bad happened to me, I’m fine. One of my captured, was even nice to me, he moved me into a nice room and brought me food and book. I felt bad though, I took advantage of his kindness and used him to escape.” I told her and she looked curious.
“You said you escaped, but how?” She asked, with a frown.
“I got the nice guy, to take me outside for some air and I knocked him out with a big rock and ran away.” I told her sheepishly, still feeling guilty. Her eyes once again went wide.
“Oh my god Jess, did you kill him?” She asked, sounding mortified.
“No, he was just unconscious.” I replied and she let out a heavy breath.
“I reported you missing to the police. You’ll have to report what happened to them.” Sam said and I nodded, acknowledging her words.
“Do you remember how to get, to their so called village?” She asked curiously.
“No clue. All I know, is that I was deep in the woods and it took half the day, to finally make it to the city.” I replied, while shacking my head.
“We should call Brad, he’s been worried sick about you as well.” Sam said, while picking up her phone.
“I missed you guys.” Is all I could say in response. I couldn’t stop the tears, that started to fall from my eyes. It was like, all the emotions that I had to suppress over the past few days, bubbled over and I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore.
“You have no idea how much we missed you, we looked everywhere for you, I called the police office every couple of hours, to see if they had found you yet.” Sam replied, while also sobbing. She wrapped me in her arms and hugged me tightly. I didn’t say anything, just enjoyed the embrace, it was comforting and it calmed my nerves.
“I know I’ve only known you for a short time, but you’re already like my best friend.” Sam said sincerely.
“You too, I thought about you and Brad ever day, while being help captive.” I replied, while wiping the tears from my cheeks.
It feel good to be home, this is where I belong. Hopefully I never see those crazy people again, specially not anyone who refers to themselves as, Alpha. Those ones seem to be the worst.
Alpha Colton POV
I was sitting in my office, looking on the internet for anything that might help me figure out, what Jessica’s tattoo means, but came up empty handed. I let out a frustrated sigh, as I sat back in my chair. That women is a damn mystery.
I was brought out of my thoughts, when I got a mind-link from one of my warriors.
‘Alpha, you need to come to the lake, the one on the Northside of the territory right away. We just found Beta Josh, he was unconscious, looks like someone knocked him out.’ The warrior said, sounding panicked.
‘On my way.’ I replied, as I jumped to my feet and ran out of my office. Who the hell knocked him out? Did rogues cross onto my border? Whoever it was, they will pay for what they have done.
I got to the lake and I found three of my patrol warriors, standing around someone that was sitting on the ground. I got closer and realized that it was Josh, he was conscious, but looked confused like he had just woken up. He had a piece of cloth wrapped around his head and I could see b***d seeping through it.
“Josh, what happened?” I asked, with a concerned frown. He looked at me and I could see confusion and embarrassment in his eyes.
“I don’t know, I was walking with Jessica and then, I was knocked out.” He said, with a confused frown. He continued to speak, before I could reply. “I think, she’s the one who knocked me out.”
“WHAT?!” I shouted out, rage coursing through my body. I knew, she wasn’t to he trusted.
“I’m sorry Alpha, she asked for some fresh air, I thought it was an innocent request.” Josh replied, I could hear the regret in his voice. I let out an angry sigh.
“Get every warrior out here and search for Jessica. I want her brought back to me, immediately!” I barked out the order, to the warriors that were standing by.
“Yes Alpha.” One of the warriors answered, while they all nodded theirs heads. They took off and start searching the area, leaving me alone with Josh.
“Who wrapped up your head?” I asked curiously. He reached up and touched it. A hiss left his lips, when he touched the area, that covered a large gash.
“I think, she did Alpha.” He said, sounding even more confused. If she was trying to hurt him, why bother wrapping up his wound? That woman is infuriating, I can’t figure her out and it’s driving me crazy.
“Let’s get you back to the pack house.” I said, as I stated to help Josh get up and onto his feet.
“I don’t think she wanted to hurt me, I think she was desperate to get away.” Josh said, while glancing over at me, nervously. I didn’t respond, I really didn’t know what to say. I hated that she hurt my Beta, but I was even more upset, that she was no longer in my possession and I had no control, over what happens to her.
Once we got back to the pack house, Josh’s injury was practically fully healed. He’s luckily to be a werewolf, our healing speed is rapid.
‘Alpha, we looked everywhere on the territory, but couldn’t replace her.’ One of my top warriors reported, through the mind-link.
‘Keep looking, search beyond the territory, replace her.’ I barked back at him, annoyed that they hadn’t found her yet. One lone women, how can she just disappear.
“How can she make it off the territory, without being detected by patrol?” I asked out loud, more to myself.
“Alpha, she has no scent, it’s practically impossible to track her.” Josh said, with a concerned tone, after seeing my angry state.
“I won’t stop until we replace her. What if Alpha Ryan gets his hands on her, now that she’s no longer in our hold?” I replied, with a concerned tone. I hated the thought of my own words and knew that Alpha Ryan, was actively out there looking for her. I wouldn’t be surprised, if the four wolves that initially chased her onto my territory, were from his pack.
“Why does it seem, like your worried for her well being, more than anything else?” Josh asked, while tilting his head to the side curiously, I could make out a very slight smirk on his face.
“She assaulted you, she has to pay for her actions, that’s all there is to it.” I blatantly lied. I knew her actions were only a desperate attempt to escape and she really couldn’t be blamed for them, anyone would of done what she did, if they were in her shoes. Plus, knowing Josh, he wouldn’t hold a grudge against her and likely wouldn’t want me to punish her.
I was in fact concerned for her well being, but I couldn’t explain my reasonings to Josh, since I couldn’t understand them myself. Josh watched me carefully, but didn’t respond. I could see the curiosity in his eyes, he knew there was more to it, than me wanting her punished for her actions.
“I’ll go and help the Warriors with the search.” Josh said and bowed his head, before leaving me alone.
I let out a frustrated sigh and headed for my office.
I need to replace her. Where do I even start looking? Something about her being gone, has my wolf pacing anxiously in my head. He’s been bugging me, to go out myself and look for her.
There was a knock at the door, that interrupted my thoughts.
“Come in” I said
The door opened and two of my warriors stood in the frame.
“Did you replace something?” I asked and glanced between the two of them.
“No Alpha, we’ve searched all the way to the city border and didn’t replace anything. It’s starting to get dark outside.” One of the warriors reported, while sounding nervous.
“I don’t give a f**k! Continue searching until she’s found, enter the city if you have to.” I barked back angrily, they both nodded their heads nervously, before running off down the hall.
I was angry, I have the best trackers and warriors, yet no one can replace her, they’re proving to be useless at the moment.
What if she made it to the City? It’s massive, how in the hell will I replace her there?
