The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 48
Jessica POV
I ended up staying in my room for over an hour, after my encounter with Alpha Colton. I was on cloud nine, staring at the ceiling while laying on my bed. I had a huge smile on my face and loved every minute of my alone time with him. I was looking forward to dinner tonight. I couldn’t help but blush, at the thought of being alone with him again.
I was brought back to reality, when there was a knock at the door.
“Come in” I said.
The door opened and my mother walked in.
“You look happy.” She said, with a curious look on her face.
“Let’s just say, I had a good sleep last night.” I said and blushed at the memory. My mother smiled and for some reason she had a knowing look on her face.
“I can’t imagine Alpha Colton had anything to do with it?” She asked, while wiggling her eyebrows suggestively. My blush darkened, at her words. She’s my mother, even if I don’t really remember her, the fact that she’s making that type of suggestion is mortifying.
“No…I just slept well.” I replied, while looking anywhere but at my mother. She laughed but luckily for me, changed the subject.
“I think I’m healthy enough to remove the spell, if your up for it?” She asked, in a more serious tone.
“Yes please! I really want to know who I am. I can’t wait to have my memory back.” I replied excitedly.
“I know your excited to remember everything, but understand it’s an intense spell. When I remove it, it’s going to be both painful and overwhelming. Everything will comeback to you at once, your memories, magic abilities and even your wolf, Jasmine. Your going to remember everything from your past all at the same time, causing a whirlwind of emotions. You sure you’re ready?” She asked and I could see the concern in her face.
“I’ve been through so much in 6 months, mom, a lot of it was harder on me because I didn’t understand what was happening. I need to know who I am and where I belong.” I replied, in a determined voice. It’s true, I would of done things so much differently, if I had know about my past.
“Ok, let’s go have breakfast. I want you to have a full stomach when we do this. Also, let’s see if Sam can join us. You’ll need some moral support. This isn’t going to be easy.” She said, with the same concerned frown on her face. I simply nodded.
We left my room and made our way down to the dinner hall. I really didn’t understand why I need to eat first, I just wanted to get this over with.
When we reached the dinner hall, I found Sam sitting at a table alone. My mother and I made our way over to the table and sat down with her.
“Hey guys, how’s it going?” Sam said, with a beaming smile.
“Good, looks like you had a good night.” I said, with a light chuckle, while shaking my head.
“Well, let’s just say Josh and I made up for lost time last night, if ya know what I mean.” She replied, while wiggling her eyebrows.
“I don’t need to know what you guys do behind closed doors.” I said, while stuffing my fingers into my ears, jokingly. Sam and my mother both chuckled.
“Sam, can you help us out after breakfast?” My mother asked, changing the subject.
“Sure, what’s up?” Sam asked curiously.
“We’re going to break the spell on Jess, it’s going to be intense for her. She’ll need some familiar faces around her, when everything comes rushing back all at once.” My mother replied. I was starting to get a little nervous. She was making it sound like it was going to be a bigger deal then I initially expected.
“Absolutely, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Jess is like a sister to me, I hope I can make it easier on her.” Sam said and I could hear the sincerity in her voice. I thought of her like a sister too, when I woke up in the hospital lost and confused. She was my light, when I was in a dark place. I could never truly thank her enough, for everything she’s done for me.
“Good, eat up and we will go back to Jess’s room. I want to do it in a calm, quiet environment.” Beth replied, while glancing between the two of us.
“You nervous.” Sam asked.
“A little bit.” I replied softly, while looking around the dinner hall.
“If your looking for Colton, him and Josh have meetings all day, regarding the Cold Stone Pack. I guess they have a lot to do, now that they took it over. They’re going to be busy for days.” Sam said, while letting out an annoyed huff.
“I wasn’t looking for him.” I replied, trying to act nonchalant. The truth is, I was kinda hoping to catch a glimpse of him before the spell is removed. His presence calms me and I could really use that right now.
Once we were done eating, we headed back to my room. I was starting to get nervous. My mother was making it sound, like it was going to be really hard on me, both physically and emotionally.
Can I handle this? Of course I can, it’s my life and I have a right to remember it, the good and bad. I wonder what it will be like to shift into a wolf. I still can’t believe that I can do that. Not to mention, I will have magic abilities. I’m curious to see what kind of magic stuff I can do, it’s almost exciting to think about it.
“Alright sweet heart, I need you to sit in that chair.” My mother instructed, pointing to the armchair next to the sofa. I complied and quickly took a seat. My heart was racing, the anticipation was killing me.
“Sam, I’ll get you to sit over there for now. Once Jess is hit with all her memories, goddess knows what could happen, so for the time being stay back.” My mother instructed, while pointing to a chair on the other side of the room. Sam nodded and made her way over, before sitting down.
“Ok, here goes nothing. You sure you’re ready?” My mother asked. While rolling up her sleeves.
“Let’s get it over with.” I replied, trying to sound brave, but I’m sure she could hear the nervousness in my tone.
“Close your eyes.” She instructed and I complied.
I heard my mother speaking in a language I didn’t understand. I will have to ask what language that is later, I thought to myself.
All of a sudden, my entire body felt tingly, almost like when one of your limbs falls asleep and slowly regains sensation. But instead of just a single limb, it was my entire body. I felt a strong and powerful aura surrounding me, it was almost suffocating.
My mothers voice was getting louder, but the only thing I was paying attention to, was the weird feeling in my body.
I felt a sharp pain in my temple, before my entire head started to ache. The pain was almost unbearable and I reached up to massage it with my hands.
A carousel of images started to flash in my head. I could see people, places and memories. It was happening so fast, that I couldn’t quite make them out. Multiple voices started to speak in my head at the exact same time. It was all becoming unbearable. I started to rock back and forth in my chair, while holding my head in my hands. I wasn’t sure how much more I could take, the pain and pressure was beyond what I have ever felt.
The images started to slow down and instead of simple pictures, I was now seeing short clips of my memories.
I saw my father and all the moments we shared together. I truly felt the love he had for me. I finally understood the sacrifice he made to save my life. Tears started to run freely down my cheeks, I missed him so much, I never even got to say goodbye. So many emotions ran through me, sadness, guilt, regret and anger. I wish Alpha Ryan wasn’t dead, so I could of killed him myself. He stole my father from me, I’ll never get to see him again.
Just when I thought I couldn’t take it anymore, an image of a large Black wolf, with white paws and ears can into my head. She was gorgeous, her fur shimmered in the light and it was so dark, it almost looked blue.
‘I’ve missed you, Jess. I’m your wolf, Jasmine.” I heard an angelic voice speak in my head.
Several memories of her flash through my mind and I remembered every moment we had spent together. More tears fell from my eyes, this time happy tears. She was like a best friend to me, I missed her without even realizing that I did.
The memories didn’t stop there. I re-lived what Alpha Ryan had done to me before the coma. It felt so real, it was like I was going through it all over again. I was sobbing uncontrollably at this point. I shook my head violently from side to side. I felt like I was losing my mind. I had no control over anything anymore and I just wanted it to stop.
This continue for what felt like hours, but was probably only minutes. I was on the verge of passing out, from both pain and surge of emotions. I was screaming for my mother to stop. It was all to much for me to handle.
I felt a currant of electricity run through my body and my eyes flew open, when I heard glass shattering. Sam gasp loudly. I look around the room and everything that was made of glass was broken. I looked over at Sam, she was looking at me with both shock and fear in her eyes.
I looked over at my mother and she looked possessed. She stood in front of me and her eyes were glowing bright. She was still speaking in a foreign language that I didn’t understand. There was a strong breeze in the room that didn’t make sense, since the windows were closed. The room was spinning, I had to hold onto the armrest of my chair to steady myself. I felt overwhelmingly nauseous in that moment.
Everything stopped abruptly, when the bedroom door flew open. Alpha Colton stood in the doorway, breathing heavily with a fearful look on his face. His eyes locked with mine and it was like time froze in that moment.
If I thought my emotions were out of control before, seeing him put them over the edge. I was hit with the most intoxicating smell of coffee and vanilla. My eyes went wide in shock, when the voice in my head, that I now recognize as my wolf, screamed one word.
“Mate”
All at once, the room stopped spinning, the breeze halted and my mother fell to the floor unconscious.
The best way to describe it, is like someone turned the off switch in my head and darkness consumed me.
