The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 55

Jessica POV

After Colton left, I decided to go back to our room and have a bubble bath. I already missed him and he had only been gone for a couple of hours.

I tried to relax, but I had this feeling in the pit of my stomach, that something bad was going to happen. I’m not sure if it’s because of the mate bond, or what, but my wolf and I were both feeling restless.

The water in the bath started to get cold, so got out and dried myself off. I made my way to the walk-in closet and without even realizing what I was doing, I had removed one of Colton’s shirt form a hanger and slipped on. I grabbed a handful of the shirt near the collar and brought it to my nose, before inhaling deeply. The smell was intoxicating and immediately put me at ease.

I walked over to the bed and found myself getting comfortable on the side that he seems to favour. If anyone was to see me right now, they would definitely think somethings wrong with me. I had my face buried in his pillow, trying to take in as much of his scent as possible. This is going to be a tough night.

I was brought out of my thoughts when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” I said. I was curious to know, would be coming to see me this late in the evening.

The door opened and in walked Sam, with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates in her hands. She also had a shirt flung over her Shoulder.

“You ready?” She asked, with a beaming smile.

“For what?” I replied, completely confused. She let out an irritated huff, before speaking again.

“Remember, we’re having a slumber party. I’ll wear Colton’s shirt, you wear Josh’s. How can you not remembered? You said you were going to be the big spoon.” Sam said with a pout, while walking into the closet and coming out a few seconds later, wearing one of Colton’s T-shirt’s.

“You were serious? I thought we were just joking.” I said, in a surprised tone.

“I don’t joke around about that kind of stuff. Here, put this on.” She replied and tossed me a t-shirt.

“You know your weird, right? This is probably the stupidest idea you’ve ever had.” I said, while shaking my head in disbelief but for some reason, I complied with her request and slipped on Josh’s shirt. It smelt wrong. I hated having it against my skin. I think her plan is back firing, this isn’t comforting at all.

“What’s the chocolate and wine for?” I asked curiously, motioning to where she had put them down on the side table.

“Well, I thought you would need more convince to go along with my crazy idea, these were suppose to be enticement. But it turns out, your way easier than I thought to get in bed.” Sam teased, while wiggling her eyebrows at me.

“You are so done, when I get my hands on you.” I joked, as I took off running after her. She squealed when I got close and jumped over the bed in an attempt to evade me.

“Whatever, I’ve decided to play hard to get. I would like a glass of wine and some chocolate, if you even wanted to think about spooning me.” I demanded, while flopping down on the bed and crossing my arms over my chest defiantly.

“Oh, a challenge, I like it.” Sam teased, as she reached for the bottle of wine and poured us each a glass. She climb onto the other side of the bed, before opening the box of chocolates and laying down in between us.

“My lady, as you requested.” Sam said, using her best butler impersonation, causing me to chuckle.

“Wanna watch a chick flick?” I asked, while grabbing the remote from the side table.

“Well, if you’re not going to put out, I guess we can watch a movie.” Sam joked, while shrugging her shoulders and I slapped her arm. The girl never stops, I thought to myself. I have to be honest though, she definitely took my mind off missing Colton so much.

We must of dozed off during the movie, because I woke up to the sun shinning through the curtains and sure as s**t, Sam was curled up on the bed and I was spooning her. My nose was practically glued to her shoulder.

Sam stirred awake and stretched out her arms. I immediately let go of her, I can’t believe we actually spooned.

“I knew the chocolate and wine would loosen you up.” Sam teased, with a playful wink.

“You’re out of control.” I replied with a chuckle.

I got out of bed and made my way into the bathroom, I had a quick shower, before coming back out wearing a towel.

Sam was still lying lazily in bed.

“Goddess, I miss him.” Sam blurted out and it was the most serious she’s been, since yesterday.

“I know, I really miss Colton too. They’ll be back later today. We just have to keep busy and it will fly by.” I tried to reassure her.

“Ya, I know.” She replied with a pout.

“Go get dressed, you can come with mom and I. She’s gonna teach me some magic today.” I said cheerfully.

“Oh, fun!” Sam squealed and it was good to see her happy go lucky demeanour back.

She hopped out of bed and before I could say another word, she ran out of the room.

“I’ll be back!” She shouted, already halfway down the hall.

I finished getting dressed, in a pair of black leggings and a oversized blue sweatshirt. I tied my hair up in a messy bun, before putting my shoes on.

I was just about to walk out of my room, when Sam came barging in.

“Ready.” She announced with a big smile. I simply shook my head and chuckled at her.

We headed to my moms room and before we could knock, the door opened and my mom stepped out.

“Oh s**t! You scared me.” She shouted, while putting a hand over her heart.

“Sorry, we didn’t mean to scare you. I was just hoping you were ready for my first magic lesson.” I replied with a big smile.

“Yes, I was actually coming to replace you. Let’s head into the garden. We need lots of space incase things go sideways. I don’t want anything blowing up or getting destroyed in my room.” My mother said, causing my eyes to widen. What the hell is she going to teach me, I thought to myself.

“Cool!” Sam blurted out excitedly.

We made our way outside, it was a sunny yet a cold day, causing a chill to run down my spine.

“Alright, since we don’t know exactly how much you inherited from me, we’ll have to go through a process of elimination. We know you can freeze time, you did that to Alpha Ryan before I put you in the coma.” My mother explained and I shivered at the memory. I hated thinking about that day.

“She can also throw people, without touching them. She threw a rogue that was biting her, like 20 feet away. It was neat!” Sam said, with a grin. My mother looked at me, with a surprise look on her face.

“Do you remember how you did it?” She asked curiously.

“Ummm, I just focused on wanting him off of me and all of a sudden, when I said the words, he went flying.” I replied, I honestly don’t really know how I did it. I hope she can teach me, seems like it could be a useful little trick to have up my sleeves.

“Well, you know I’m a very powerful witch. I come from a pure bloodline, there aren’t many left in the world like me. We knew you inherited some of my abilities, but I thought it would only be a few, since you’re a hybrid. Having said that, when I broke the spell, you unintentionally fought my magic with yours and I almost failed. Now, hearing Sam tell me about the rogue, I’m wondering if you inherited more then I initially thought.” My mother said with a thoughtful frown. I wonder what all this means? I didn’t reply, I simply waited for her to continue speaking.

“Stand right here.” My mother instructed, motioning to a place in the middle of the garden, that had nothing around it. I complied and immediately took the spot she told me to take.

I watched as she brought a large stone over to where I was standing. It was approximately a foot by a foot. She put it down directly in front of me.

“Now, focus on this stone. Clear your mind and think of nothing else. I want you to think about moving it, over there” She said and pointed towards the trees, that were approximately 20 feet away.

I closed my eyes and did as she said, but when I opened them, nothing happened. The stone was still by my feet.

“You have to focus.” I mother said and I huffed.

“I am focusing.” I replied, while shutting my eyes and trying again. When I opened them, once again, the stone hadn’t budged.

“Don’t get frustrated, this is new to you, it will take awhile for you to master your abilities. Keep practicing.” My mother encouraged.

I had been trying for hours and still nothing. I was getting extremely irritated.

“Let’s take a little break.” My mother suggested, when she noticed how frustrated I was getting.

“No, I can do this!” I replied. Feeling more determined then ever to succeed.

I closed my eyes and pictured it flying, then I pictured the trees where I wanted it to go. I felt a weird tingling sensation spread from my fingers all the way through my body, before it abruptly disappeared.

I heard a loud crashing sound, followed by gasps from both my mother and Sam. I quickly opened my eyes, to replace the stone gone and implanted into the tree that I had envisioned throwing it at. My eyes went wide in shock, when I realized that I had done that.

“That was so freaken cool!” Sam squealed out excitedly.

I looked over at my mother and she looked deep in thought. I wasn’t sure what was going through her head.

“Mom, was that suppose to happen?” I asked, feeling slightly concerned.

“Oh, yes hun. You did great. Let’s try a few more things.” My mother suggested and I nodded my head.

I could see the curiosity in her eyes, as she led me through a few more tests.

She had me freeze time, throw things around, make items disappear and finally, I used teleportation to move my location around the garden.

I was finally picking up on how it all works. It really just required concentration and patience. Once I picked up on one of the tricks, it didn’t take long to figure out the others.

We had been practicing for hours. I was completely exhausted.

“I think that’s enough for today. You did good.” My mother said, offering me a proud smile.

“Thanks.” I replied, with my own smile.

All of a sudden, I got this overwhelming sense of both fear and anger. I clutched my chest and fell to my knees. What the hell is happening.

“What’s wrong? Are you ok?” My mother shouted, as she kneeled beside me and grabbed ahold of my shoulders.

“Somethings not right. I think it has to do with my mate.” I replied, as tears started to fall freely form my eyes. I had this dreadful feeling rushing through me.

“What? Oh my goddess, I felt anxious all of a sudden. Do you think it’s because Josh is in trouble?” Sam asked, with concern in her tone. She’s human, so she won’t feel the bond to the same extent as us werewolves. The fact that she felt a rush of anxiety, leads me to believe that something bad is going on.

“They need our help.” I said firmly, as I stood from the ground.

“Let’s talk to the Gamma, maybe they can send more men, you haven’t practiced enou…” my mother started to speak and I cut her off.

“He’s my mate, I’m going.” I replied, with so much determination, that it even shocked me.
