The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 6
Alpha Colton POV
After leaving the dungeon, I made my way back to my office, with Kyle and Josh.
I couldn’t stop thinking about the girl, who called herself Jessica. Who knows if that’s even her real name, I bet it’s a lie, like her other answers.
Once we arrive, I opened the door and motioned for them to go in, I entered behind them and close the door.
I let out a sigh of frustration, as I took my seat behind my desk.
“What do you think, Alpha?” Josh asked, with a frown.
“I think she’s lying.” I replied dryly.
“I’m not so sure, if it was a lie, she’s a damn good actress.” Kyle said, while shaking his head in disbelief.
“Ya Alpha, I’m with Kyle on this one. She looked sincerely petrified and confused. I personally, don’t think she was lying.” Josh said, while glancing between Kyle and I. I let out a huff, as I rubbed my hands down my face.
“Well, I’m not as easily fooled. Let’s see, what a couple of days in the dungeon, without food and water will do. I bet she’ll be willing to talk then.” I replied, with a frustrated tone.
I could see the disapproval, on both Kyle and Josh’s face. I don’t care though, I’m not going to risk the safety of my pack, not over some girl.
“Maybe, we could at least give her a blanket? She looked frozen, her lips were starting to turn blue.” Josh asked, sounding concerned.
“No, I want her to be as uncomfortable as possible, so that when we go back down there, she’ll be willing to talk.” I replied firmly. I heard a sigh, leave his lips at my answer.
“When do you plan on going back down there?” Kyle asked, curiously.
“I’ll give her a day and go back down tomorrow.” I replied.
“Ok well, if that’s all, I’m going to go replace my mate.” Kyle said, as he stood up.
“That’s all for now.” I replied with a nod.
I watched as Kyle left my office and closed the door behind him.
Josh was looking at me with a mix of emotions, but mainly I could see his disapproval in my decision.
“Alpha, what if she’s innocent? Will you let her go?” He questioned, with a frown.
“I don’t know, if she could ever prove her innocence, but yes, If she can prove that she wasn’t trying to harm me, or my pack and her trespassing was a coincidence, then I would let her go.” I replied truthfully.
“So basically, your going to keep her locked up, if she can’t?” Josh asked and I could hear the distaste in his voice.
“Your overstepping your boundaries, Beta.” I growled, in a warning tone. Josh threw his hands up in surrender and his eyes went wide.
“Sorry Alpha, I mean no disrespect, I just feel sorry for the girl. She’s barely 19 and doesn’t look like the killer type. That’s all. I’ll keep my opinions to myself, from now on.” Josh replied.
“I understand that, but trust, that I have my packs best interest at heart and until she gives us more information, I don’t trust her.” I said pointedly.
“Fair enough. If that’s all Alpha, I’ll leave you alone.” Josh said, with a defeated tone, as he stood from his chair.
“That’s all.” I replied and he left my office.
I let out an irritated huff. Is my Beta right? Am I being to hard on her? I was brought out of my thoughts, when there was a knock at the door.
I sigh in frustration, not wanting to speak with anyone.
“Come in” I said shortly, with irritation in my voice.
The door opened and Heather walked in. The last person I wanted to see right now. She was wearing a very revealing white dress, that ended mid thigh and left little to the imagination.
“Alpha.” She greeted, as she entered my office. I nodded and waited to see what she needed, this time.
“You said you would have dinner with me and you never showed up.” She said, with a pout.
“I’ve been busy, Heather.” I replied, dryly.
She walked around my desk, to where I was sitting and sat down in front of me on my desk, her legs straddling me. I didn’t miss that she wasn’t wearing any panties, she certainly wasn’t trying to hide anything from me, since her p***y was just below eyesight.
“Then how about a nightcap.” She offered seductively, while she rubbed her hands down my chest, at the same time, she lower her lips and started to k**s my jawline, moving down towards my neck.
“I’m busy Heather, I don’t have time for this.” I replied, with a stern voice. She stopped kissing me, and pulled her face away, to look me in the eyes.
“Alpha, you haven’t touched me in days, I miss you.” She said, while pushing out her bottom l*p in a pout.
“I promise, we will do dinner tomorrow night.” I said to appease her, so she would finally leave me alone. I saw an excited smile, spread across her face.
“Ok, dinner tomorrow sounds great, I’ll talk to the kitchen omegas and make sure they prepare something special for us.” She said, now beaming with excitement, as she stood from my desk.
“Perfect.” I replied, just wanting this conversation to be over.
I watched, as she walked towards the door and paused before leaving.
“I’ll see you tomorrow at dinner, unless you change your mind tonight, you know where to replace me, if you do.” She said seductively, as she left my office and closed the door behind her.
Having dinner with Heather, is the last thing I want to do right now, but it was the only way to get her off my back.
I tried to look over some documents, that need my attention, but I couldn’t focus. All I kept thinking about, were those scared emerald coloured eyes, that belonged to Jessica.
Hector my wolf, disapproved of my decision to keep her locked in the dungeon. He wouldn’t stop whimpering at the sight of her, when we were interrogating her. I didn’t understand his interest in her.
I sat at my desk, unable to get anything accomplished.
Hector was hassling me to go and check on her. He was relentless. I won’t lie, I was also wondering how she was doing.
I got out of my chair and left my office, deciding that maybe a walk and some fresh air, would settle Hector and I down.
I had been walking for a half hour, when all of a sudden, I realized that I was standing in front of the dungeon entrance. I had walked here, without even intentionally doing it.
I decided to go and see if she was awake or asleep.
I went down, the dark dingy stone stairs, that lead into the dungeon. A chill ran down my spine, as the damp cold temperature hit me.
Josh was right, it is pretty cold down here.
Once I reached the bottom, the guard stood from his chair.
“Alpha.” He said, greeting me with a nod. I nodded back.
“Has she said anything.” I asked curiously.
“No Alpha, not a word.” He replied and I could see the pity in his eyes.
“I’m going to see her.” I said, as I started walking down the hall towards her cell.
“Yes Alpha.” The guard replied.
I approached quietly, hoping she would be sleeping. If she was awake, I don’t even know what I’m going to say.
I reach her cell and stopped in front.
My eyes searched the dark dirty cell, until they fell on a trembling ball in the corner.
She was asleep. I let out a relieved breath.
She looked so cold, she was wrapped tightly in fetal position on the floor and I could see her body, vibrating violently from the cold. I could even hear her teeth chattering, from where I stood.
Hector started whimpering at the sight and I couldn’t help the guilt and regret that ran through my body. I couldn’t take seeing her like this, even if I don’t trust her and she was potentially sent here to kill me.
I went back to the guard and requested a blanket. He grabbed one out of the supply closet and handed it to me, along with the keys for her cell.
I walked back towards her cell and was happy to see, she was still asleep. I don’t want her to think I’m weak and lowering my guard for her, because I’m not. I just can’t stand seeing her suffer. I’ll make sure the guard doesn’t tell her, that I gave her the blanket. The more ruthless I come across to her, the likelier she will answer my questions.
I opened the door as quietly as possible and frozen when she started to move, but she stilled not long after, so I continued opening it.
I went inside and the closer I got to her, the colder she looked, I could actually see her face now and her lips were a bluish purple.
I covered her gently with the blanket and did my best to tuck it in around her body, without waking her up.
I stepped back and stood there watching her for a few minutes. I felt myself soften at the sight of her in front of me. I had to shake my head and remind myself, why she’s in the dungeon in the first place. She’s intentionally hiding her identity, there’s no good reason for anyone to hide their scent, so I believe she has bad intentions and I plan on figuring out what they are.
After several minutes, I noticed that she wasn’t shivering as violently and I couldn’t hear the chattering teeth, like I had initially. I let out a breath of relief, Hector was relaxing a bit in my head, but he still wanted me to take her out of the cell. I can’t do that, she’s dangerous, I just know it.
She started to stir again, so I decided to leave, before she woke up. I quickly closed the door and walked away down the hall and out of sight.
I order the guard not to tell her, that I had brought her the blanket and he didn’t hesitate to agree.
I left the dungeon feeling a bit better, now that I had given her a blanket, but I still felt restless, I decided a run would be good to blow off some steam, for both Hector and I.
I got to the tree line and stripped out of my clothes, I quickly shifted into my chocolate brown wolf. My wolf is huge, part of the perks of being an Alpha, are that I’m bigger, stronger and faster than the average werewolf.
I didn’t waste time and took off running through the forest, I instantly felt myself and Hector relax, running free has this calming effect, it’s what I do when my emotions are getting the better of me, it usually helps to reset my demeanour.
I ran for hours, until I was exhausted, I figured I should at least be able to sleep a little now.
I went back to my clothes and got dressed, before heading towards my room.
Tomorrow, I will try again to interrogate Jessica, maybe a night in the dungeon, will be enough for her to cooperate.
