Jessica POV

I woke up still lying on the cold stone floor. I slowly opened my eyes, as I recalled where I was. The sun was shining in through the small window, letting me know that it was the next day.

As the sleepy haze started to leave my brain, the first thing I noticed, was that I wasn’t shivering anymore, I was still cold, but a manageable cold. I looked down and saw that a thick blanket had been draped over my body.

I wonder who brought me the blanket? Maybe the guard? One thing I’m sure of, the guy that came down yesterday and interrogated me, isn’t going to be happy that someone showed me kindness.

I sat up In my cell and leaned against the cold stone wall. I wrapped the blanket around my shoulders and hugged it tightly around my body.

My throat hurt from how dry it was, I was so thirsty and my stomach kept grumbling, reminding me that I hadn’t had food in almost two full days.

I let out a defeated sigh. All I can do, is wait and pray that the man comes back and shows me mercy, by setting me free.

I miss my friends and the life that I’ve built for myself, over the past six months. I hope I get to see them again.

I heard footsteps approaching, from down the hall. I quickly stood and balled the blanket up beside the toilet, on the opposite side of where I was standing. I hoped that if the footsteps belonged to the mean man from yesterday, he might not notice the blanket on the other side of my cell, I really don’t want him to take it away from me.

A few seconds later, the same three guys from yesterday stopped in front of my cell. My heart was beating fast with anticipation. What is he going to ask me today.

The same guy who asked all the questions yesterday, stared at me intensely for a few minutes, without saying anything. He was so intense, it made me feel naked in front of him.

“What are you?” He asked calmly, with his low husky voice. My breathing grew rapid, I still don’t know how to answer his question.

“I’m sorry, I don’t know what you want me to say. I’m a girl, I work in a coffee shop and my name’s Jessica.” I replied, in a soft voice. The man chuckled dryly at my answer.

What does he want me to say? I don’t understand his question and it was starting to irritate me.

“I guess a day in the dungeon, wasn’t enough.” He threatened and I couldn’t help but flinch at his words. I really hope that I don’t stay in here any longer.

I watched as his eyes travelled around my cell, before they landed on my blanket. My heart beat, instantly increased as I waited for his reaction, but to my surprise he didn’t say anything, his eyes moved back and met with mine.

“Are you human?” He asked, his eyes narrowing.

What the hell? Why is he asking if I’m human? This guy, is full blown nuts. I don’t know how to answer the question. Does he want me to say, that I’m an alien from out of space?

“Ummm, yes.” I replied softly, but it sounded more like a question. He dryly chuckled again, while shaking his head in disbelief.

“Your not human, Jessica, I would be able to scent it.” He replied firmly. My eyes widened. I really am dealing with a crazy psychopath and the two other guys, are just going along with his madness, without saying anything. I didn’t reply, I mean, what the hell could I say?

“Where’s home?” He asked. I was thankful for a change of subject.

“I live with a friend, fifteen minutes away from the hospital, in town.” I replied truthfully. I could see his eyes scrutinizing my words. He was trying hard to catch me lying, but I honestly wasn’t.

“How long have you lived in the city?” He continued his interrogation. I couldn’t help but flinch , I hope he doesn’t dig to deep, I know he won’t believe that I don’t remember anything from before the previous six months. He will definitely call me a liar.

“Six month.” I kept my answer short, dreading his next one.

“Where did you live before that?” He asked and I watched as his eyebrows furrowed. I hesitated for a minute and debated lying, but quickly talked myself out of it. If I lie, I’m giving him a legit reason to keep me locked up.

“I don’t know.” I practically whispered and looked down at the ground. I didn’t want to see his reaction. I doubt he’ll even believe me, but it’s the truth.

“You don’t know?” He asked, I could hear the mocking tone in his voice.

“No, I woke up from a coma, in the hospital six months ago. I don’t remember my life before that.” I replied, in a low voice, while still looking down at the ground.

I didn’t hear anything for a few minutes, so I decided to glance up. I saw that the three guys, kept looking at each other, like they were having a silent conversation. It was confusing, I swear I saw their eyes change and almost looked glossy. I chalked it up to the poor lighting and quickly averted my eyes to the floor again.

“Jessica, your a good liar, but I want to be clear, I don’t believe you. I think your hiding something and I plan on replaceing out what that is.” He said with a serious tone. I glanced back up and locked eyes with him. I was irritated at this point. It seems like me being truthful, isn’t helping me at all.

“I’m telling the damn truth, believe me or not, I don’t care anymore. You want to kill me? Do it! I haven’t lied once.” I blurted out, my irritation getting the better of me. I instantly regret my words and lowered my eyes to the ground. Silently praying that he didn’t follow through with my request.

I watched and I swore I saw his eyes darken. His lips twitched upwards slightly, it almost looked like he was entertained by my outburst.

“I don’t believe you, but I’m not going to kill you, not yet. I’ll admit, you’ve peaked my curiosity now with the game your playing.” He said and his tone sounded more amused this time.

“Who do you live with?” He continued his questioning, with a curious tone.

“One of the nurse that took care of me, while I was I a coma, she offered me a place to stay, I didn’t have anywhere else to go, so I took it. I’ve lives with her ever since.” I replied, in a defeated tone.

“Where do you work?” He asked.

“At a small coffee shop in town. I got the job, after I got out of the hospital. I swear, I’m not lying, you can contact my manager, Brad.” I replied and I swear, I saw his eyes darken when I mentioned Brad’s name.

“Do you have family?” He continued to question me.

“I don’t know, I don’t remember.” I whispered truthfully, as my eyes remained glued to the floor. It was awkwardly silent for a moment.

“You’ve managed to convince my Beta, Josh here, that your not lying. I personally don’t believe you, but he’s willing to take responsibility for you. You won’t be leaving my territory, not until I know who you are and what you were doing here.” He said with a stern voice and motioned with his head to the guy on his right.

The guy he referred to as his Beta, Josh, was 6’3 with a bulky muscular build, hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair. He was a good looking man, not nearly as good looking as the mean one in the middle, but still would draw some eyes in. He was the one, who hesitated to leave yesterday and saw pity in his eyes when he looked at me.

What I didn’t understand, is how he knew that his friend believed me. They hadn’t spoken a word to one another since they got here. I was brought out of my thoughts when he spoke again.

“I’ll move you to a more comfortable room, but don’t think for a second, that your free to do as you please. Beta Josh, will be responsible for you and you’ll do as he says. If you try anything funny or refuse to obey, you will be locked back into this cell, indefinitely. Do you understand.” He said sternly and a chill ran down my spine, at the authority in his voice.

Hope started bubbling to the surface, if I get out of this cell, I might have a chance to get out of this place and away from this psychopath.

“Yes.” I said lowly, while glancing up at the three men standing in front of me.

“Good.” He replied.

“Beta, take her to her room, the collar will remain on her at all times and I expect you to ensure, she is never left unaccompanied.” The guy in charge, barked the order to the guy named, Josh. I watched as the guy name Josh, nodded his head.

The guy, I can only describe as the leader, turned around and walked away and out of sight, with the third guy, leaving me alone with Josh.

“Jessica, my name is Josh.” The guy said and offered me a small smile, it might of been small, but I could tell it was genuine. I lightly smiled back.

“Nice to meet you.” I said, in a low voice.

I watched, as he unlocked the cell door and slid it open.

“Come with me, I’ll show you to your room.” He said and motion for me to step out. I complied, I won’t lie, I was thrilled to be leaving this dirty, smelly cell.

Once I was out of the cell, I paused and waited for Josh to walk ahead of me and lead the way.

I followed him, till we reach outside. I squinted my eyes, when the bright sun blinded me. It had been so long, since I last saw day light, it took some time to adjust. Josh was patient, he stood beside me and waited a minute, until I was able to open my eyes fully.

Once my sight adjusted, I took in my surroundings. It looked like I was in a little village, in the middle of nowhere. There were hundreds of little wooden cabins, spread out along the territory and on the far end, there was this massive five story red brick building. There were people waking around everywhere.

I wonder where I am? The whole village was surrounded by thick dark forest.
