The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 63
Jessica POV
Colton already looked so much better after a good night sleep. He no longer had dark circles around his eyes and his skin regained some colour.
I slept like a baby, I guess being in his arms did the trick. I could of stay in bed all day with him, if it weren’t for the ongoing threat of war.
Colton was up early in the morning and anxious to go and see Josh. I could understand, Josh was like his brother and the closest person to family in his life.
We got dressed before heading to the hospital. Colton held my hand while we walked and I loved feeling the static sensation form the mate bond, it always causes butterflies to stir in my stomach and I’ll never get sick of it.
“I’m going to have a meeting later, with Kyle and Alpha Peter to discuss resources and come up with a plan. I would like you to join us, you took care of this pack when I couldn’t and I’d like your opinion on things.” Colton said, while glancing down at me.
“Of course, I want to help wherever I can.” I replied, while smiling softy at him. I like the fact that he wanted me involve in pack matters, it shows how much he respects my opinion.
We reached the hospital and made our way to Josh’s room. Before we opened the door, we could hear Sam scolding him.
“I swear to the goddess Joshua, if you don’t get back in that bed right this second, I’ll put you back in that coma.” Her voice boomed through the walls.
Colton and I looked at each other with wide eyes, before bursted out laughing. Sam might be small, but she’s a hell of a firecracker.
Colton knocked lightly, before we heard Sam’s voice telling us to come in. He opened the door and we walked into the room.
Josh stood by the hospital bed, wearing a pair of sweat pants and holding a shirt in his hands. His chest was bare and the hospital gown he was wearing was laying on the floor in front of him.
“Can one of you tell this dumbass that he needs to rest?” Sam asked, as soon as we walked in.
“Joshua, I think you need to rest.” Colton said sternly, but in a mocking tone. He was trying his best to hold in his laughter.
“Not you too, what’s with the full name? It’s like my mother’s in the room scolding me for sneaking a freshly baked cookie.” Josh replied with a light chuckle, while shaking his head.
“Seriously, you’re not leaving this room until the doctor says you can.” Sam said sternly, while putting her hands on her h**s and giving Josh a pointed look, silently daring him to argue.
There was a light knock at the door, drawing all of our attention towards it. Dr. Erickson stood in the doorway glancing between all of us.
“Good morning everyone.” The doctor greeted, while bowing his head respectfully towards us.
“Doctor, can you please tell this man he needs to rest. He just woke up last night, shouldn’t he still be in bed?” Sam asked, with irritation clear in her tone.
“Let me run a few tests, see how he’s healing. Will you take a seat for me, Beta?” The doctor asked and motioned for Josh to sit on the bed. Josh complied and took a seat.
“I feel great Doctor, good as new.” Josh replied, with a cheerful grin.
Sam growled out in irritation, before storming out of the room. We all froze momentarily, at the odd sound that left her throat. When she was out of the room, everyone broke out into a fit of laughter.
“Does she always do that? Every time I came in to check on you, she growled at me. I’m not going to lie, it freak me out a little.” The doctor said, while chuckling and shaking his head.
“Ya she does, you get use to it after a while.” Josh joked, while shrugging his shoulders casually and we all laughed.
The doctor conducted a few tests on Josh and half way through, Sam came back into the room. She looked annoyed, but stood beside me and remained silent.
“Looks like your werewolf healing is back to normal. I think it’s safe for me to discharge you. I just ask that you take it easy for a few days.” The doctor instructed.
“Absolutely Doctor, thank you.” Josh replied. The doctor nodded his head at all of us, before leaving the room.
“You heard him, You need to take it easy.” Sam said, giving him a pointed look.
“Yes my love. Now, can we leave this place?” Josh replied, while giving Sam a charming smile. She rolled her eyes at him, before nodding her head.
We left the hospital and headed back to the pack house.
“Jess and I are going to have a meeting with Kyle and Alpha Peter in a bit. If you’re feeling up to it, I would like for you to join us.” Colton said, while glancing at Josh.
“I’ll be there, as long as my probation officer allows it.” Josh teased, while glancing over a Sam with a smirk. She punched his shoulder playfully.
“That’s fine, but that’s all you’re getting up to today.” Sam said in a serious tone.
“Yes, boss.” Josh replied with a playful smirk, but at the same time leaned down and kissing her cheek.
“How about we meet in my office around 3:00pm, you can take it easy till then?” Colton suggested.
“Sounds good, I’ll see you guys a little later.” Josh replied, before walking away with Sam.
“Now, I think you should also get some rest before the meeting. How about I go get you something to eat and bring it back to the room?” I offered.
“That would be great.” Colton replied, with a smile. He leaned down and kissed my lips softly, before walking away towards our room.
I made my way to the kitchen and put together a tray of food. I wasn’t sure what he would want, so I added a little bit of everything.
“Hey, how’s Colton doing?” I heard my mothers voice asked, from somewhere behind me.
I turned my head and smiled at her, before answering.
“He’s doing good, but trying to get him to relax and take it easy, has been a challenge.” I joked.
“Glad he’s awake and doing better.” My mother replied, while walking over to me and helping with the food I was preparing.
“How’s things going with you and Alpha Peter? I asked curiously. My mothers cheeks blushed at the mention of her mate. I could see the adoration in her eyes.
“Really good, he’s so sweet and he doesn’t put any pressure on me. He’s letting me set the pace and I’m really appreciate for that.” She replied and I couldn’t help but smile.
“I’m happy for you mom. You guys deserve each other.” I said, before giving her a hug.
“Thanks. He has to return to his territory soon. He’s got responsibilities there and now that Alpha Colton is awake, he thinks it’s time for him to return.” My mother replied and I could see the disappointment in her eyes.
“Oh, I guess that makes sense. What are you going to do?” I asked curiously.
“He wants me to go with him and promised that would still take it slow. He doesn’t want to be apart from me, it would drive his wolf and him crazy.” She replied and I could see how conflicted she was.
“Why do you look so conflicted? If he makes you happy and is treating you well, why not give him a chance? I know how it feels being away from your mate and it’s not easy.” I asked with a curious frown.
“I don’t want to leave you. I just got you back after being separated for over six months.” She replied and I could see the sadness in her eyes.
“This is different, I’ll always be a short drive away. We can visit each other weekly and talk on the phone everyday. I support whatever decision you make, but I’ve seen you with him and your eyes sparkle like they use to, when dad was still alive.” I said truthfully.
“Thanks sweetheart. I’ll think about it.” My mother replied, with an appreciative smile.
“I better get this food up to Colton. Let’s chat more later, ok?” I asked and my mother nodded her head.
I made my way to our bedroom, holding a tray full of food. Once I got there, I opened the door and went inside.
Colton was sitting on the bed with his back against the headboard, he was looking over a piece of paper that he held in his hands.
“Hey, I didn’t know what you would want to eat, so I brought a little of everything.” I said, as I put down the tray on the side table.
“Thanks, that looks perfect. Come take a seat with me.” He replied, while patting the bed next to him. I complied and sat down, leaning my back against the headboard and my shoulder against his.
“What’s that?” I asked, nodding my head towards the paper in his hands.
“Kyle dropped it off before you got here. It’s a report from the men you sent to Alpha Philip’s territory to spy?” He replied, with a confused and curious look on his face.
Since he’s been awake, we really haven’t discussed much of what happened while he was in the coma, I guess now’s a good time to do that.
“After our border patrol scented some of Alpha Philip’s men snooping around our territory, I thought it would be a good idea to keep tabs on him and his men. If he’s going to attack us, it would be nice to know ahead of time and be prepared.” I replied and he nodded.
“That was a smart move. Looks like he’s planning something, the men you sent reported that his men have double their training and there’s been a lot of weapons and supplies coming into the territory.” Colton informed me, while looking over the document.
“What are we going to do?” I asked, with concern lacing my words.
“Get our men ready for war. We can talk to Alpha Peter during the meeting, I’m sure he will be willing to lend a hand. Kyle told me that we are now down to 15 warriors still injured, the rest have healed, so that’s good news.” Colton replied, but I could see the concern on his face. Going to war is never good, so many lives are sacrificed that even if you win, it doesn’t feel like a time to celebrate.
“Let me know what I can do. Maybe I should train with the warriors, they could learn to use my magic to their advantage. My mother taught me how to freeze time, move things, teleport and blow things up.” I said and I could see the disapproval in his eyes, when hearing my suggestion.
“No chance, you’re not fighting in this war. I won’t risk something happening to you.” He replied in a serious tone, while shaking his head. I let out a sigh, I know he only wants to keep safe, his intentions are pure, but we need all the help we can get if we want to win.
“I’m going to fight, not only do I have a strong wolf, but I have magic that we can use to our advantage. Alpha Philip’s is getting help form Alpha Marco and his pack. Together, they outnumbered us, we stand a better chance if every capable pack member fights, including me.” I said in a stern voice, leaving no room for argument.
“I’m just worried. I don’t want anything bad happening to you.” He replied with a heavy sigh.
“I know and I could say the same about you. When I found you at the Cold Stone Pack, on the brink of death, I thought I was losing you and i felt pain in my heart like I’ve never felt before.” I said, while looking him in the eyes, so he knew how sincere I was being. He let out a defeated sigh.
“I’m sorry I put you through that. You’re right, If we end up going to war, we need everyone who can fight to join us on the battle field.” He replied. I could still see concern and apprehension in his eyes, but it was nice to hear him agree with me.
“Thank you. Now eat and rest.” I said, while handing him the tray. He chuckled lightly at my command, but didn’t argue.
We stayed in bed for several hours, just relaxing. I updated him on everything he missed while in the coma.
I can’t wait for this war to be behind us. I want to move forward with Colton and not constantly worry about being attacked.
