Alpha Colton POV

I woke up to the morning sun peaking over the horizon. My arms were wrapped tightly around Jess as she continued to sleep. I can’t even remember how many times we made love throughout the night, it was incredible. My c**k twitched just thinking about it.

“What is is? You got tense all of a sudden.” Jess asked, while lifting her head from my chest and looking into my eyes.

“Alpha Macro wants to speak with me.” I replied with a frown.

“Isn’t that the Alpha that helped Alpha Philip’s attack you?” She asked with her own concern frown and I simply nodded.

I wish we could stay here all day, but I have to get back.” I huffed in irritation.

“I understand.” Jess replied, as she rolled off of me.

I stood up and got dressed, while Jess did the same. When we were both ready, we walked back to the pack house in silence. My mind was going a mile a minute, what does that scumbag want? I wondered.

We reached my office and found Kyle and Josh already inside waiting for us. They both looked concerned.

“What are you going or do?” Kyle asked.

“I’m going to call Alpha Marco and see what the hell he wants.” I replied shortly, while taking a seat behind my desk.

“This could be a trap.” Josh added, looking concerned.

“I’m aware of that and certainly won’t be falling for any of his tricks.” I replied, while picking up the phone and dialling Alpha Marco’s number.

The line rang three times, before I heard a voice greet me.

“Alpha Marco speaking.” I recognized his voice right away and knew it was him.

“It’s Alpha Colton, you wanted to speak with me?” I replied in a short tone.

“Awww yes, Alpha Colton. Thank you for calling me back.” He said and I remained silent waiting for him to say his piece.

“I would like to meet with you to discuss something.” Alpha Marco suggested.

“Not a chance Alpha, if you have something to tell me, it’s now or never.” I replied firmly, causing him to let out a deep sigh.

“Ok, fine. As you are aware, I fought with Alpha Philip’s against you and your men at the Cold Stone Pack. It was nothing personal, but when Alpha Philip’s offered me the territory in exchange for my alliance, it was an offer I couldn’t refused. Having said that, after replaceing out that he challenged you to a fight and then used wolfbane against you to guarantee his victory, my stance has changed. I won’t be associated with anyone that doesn’t play fair. I’ve already told him that he no longer has my support, so I will not be fighting alongside him and his men any longer.” He explained.

“Why are you telling me this? Do you think I’m going to become one of your allies now?” I scoffed.

“No not at all. This is simply a professional courtesy call letting you know where I stand. So we’re clear, I still want The cold Stone Pack territory, but I believe in obtaining it fairly.” Alpha Marco continued.

I’ve never been a fan of the man, he’s an arrogant prick if you asked me. Having said that, he’s a very proud man and has always been a fair fighter, so I’m not surprised by his words. Would I trust him? Hell no, but in a cut throat wold, were you have multiple enemies waiting for you to fall so they can take what’s yours, sometimes you need to play nice and prevent an unnecessary war.

“I understand Alpha Marco and I appreciate the phone call.” I replied dryly, unable to hide the venom in my tone.

“I heard you found your mate, congratulations. She seems to be quite the catch, I hear.” Alpha Marco added and there was something in his tone that rubbed me the wrong way. My fingers were gripping the phone so tightly that my knuckles turned white.

“I have, now if that’s everything, I have business to take care of.” I gritted out between clenched teeth, unable to hide the distaste for him in my voice.

“Of course Alpha, till next time.” Alpha Marco chirped, before the line disconnected.

Jess walked behind me and started to gently massage my shoulders when she noticed how tense I was. Her touch relaxed me slightly.

“Do you think he’s telling the truth?” Josh asked with a frown.

“I’m not sure, but what I have heard about him is he likes to win fairly, so he could be telling the truth. Either way, I’m not stupid enough lower my guard because of his words.” I replied, while spinning my chair around and grabbing Jess by the waist, before sitting her on my lap.

She didn’t resist me, she knew I needed her right now, my anger was bubbling inside and she was the only thing keeping me sane. I wanted nothing more than to go and kill Alpha Marco, but knew I couldn’t do that, not now. There are bigger threats at the moment that need to be dealt with first.

“What do you want us to do?” Kyle asked.

“Nothing yet. Let’s keep the spies on Alpha Philip’s territory, It will be interesting to see if his tactics change at all.” I replied and Kyle nodded.

We were interrupted by a knock at the door.

“Come in.” I announced

The door opened and Alpha Peter and Beth walked in.

“Are we interrupting?” Alpha Peter asked, whiling glancing between us.

“No, I’m actually glad you’re here.”‘I replied and updated him on the conversation I had with Alpha Marco.

“I’m not really surprised to be honest. I’ve know Alpha Marco since I was a kid, we’re around the same age. He’s always been competitive and cocky, but never have I known him to play dirty or cheat. I’m not saying let your guard down, he’s still power hungry, but I bet he’s telling the truth.

“Either way, it doesn’t change our tactic, we’ll be ready if anyone tries to attack us. Now, how can I help you, Alpha Peter?” I asked curiously, wondering why they came to my office.

“We actually came here to say goodbye, I need to return to my territory and Beth will be coming with me.” He said excitedly, while putting his arm around Beth’s waist and pulling her close to him. She blushed from all the attention she was getting.

“I understand and thank you for all the help you’ve given us these past few weeks.” I replied, while nodding my head.

“I’ll be leaving a bunch of my warriors here incase you need them and don’t hesitate to call if you need anything else.” Alpha Peter added.

“Thank you, it’s much appreciated.” I replied sincerely.

We said our goodbyes and I watched as Jess and Beth gave each other a long, tight hug, both had tears running down their cheeks.

“Make sure to call me everyday, I’m going to miss you.” Beth said, in between sobs.

“I will. Did you say goodbye to Sam?” Jess asked.

“Yes, she’s already given Peter the third degree and threatened to come after him if anything happens to me.” Beth replied, causing everyone in the room to chuckle. It wasn’t surprising to hear, Sam’s a total firecracker.

Once we were done saying goodbye, Beth and Alpha Peter left my office. He’s been an amazing alliance and I’m not sure what would of happened had he not helped out. I’m glad he found his second chance mate and can have the same happiness I have with Jess.
