Chapter 65

Jessica POV

I reached our bedroom and went inside. I was disappointed when I found the room empty, Colton wasn’t there. His scent was fresh, telling me that he had been in here recently. Maybe he’s in his officer? I thought to myself. I was just about to leave the room, when my eyes landed on a folded piece of paper laying on the bed.

I frowned curiously, as I picked up the piece of paper and unfolded it. There was a note written on it that said;

Meet me in the garden.

I put the piece of paper down on the bed and smiled to myself wonder what he was up to. I had a hunch his doctors appointment must of gone well, why else would he leave me such a mysterious note. Incase my hunch was accurate, I decided to change into something a little sexier, at least my undergarments.

I walked over to the dresser and picked out a red laced bra that left little to the imagination and a matching thong. I smiled mischievous to myself as I slipped the underwear on. I knew once Colton saw this on me, he would lose the little control he had left and that made me both nervous and excited.

I put on a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a black T-shirt to cover the lingerie. I went with a casual outfit incase I was completely misreading the situation. I applied light makeup, basically a little mascara and some clear l*p gloss.

Once I was done, I left the room and made my way down to the garden. My heart was beating fast and my curiosity was through the roof. I wonder what he’s doing in the garden?

I reached the garden and frowned in disappointment, when I couldn’t replace Colton anywhere. I was about to go back inside, when I noticed a single long stem rose sitting on a bench in the middle of the garden. I walked over and picked it up and noticed a small piece of paper attached to it with a note written on it.

I smiled when I read the note. I knew exactly what tree he was talking about. My excitement grew with ever passing minute. This was so unlike Colton, but I like this new side of him.

I made my way to the forest and towards the willow tree that I knew Colton was referring to. I couldn’t help but appreciate the evening. The sun was setting leaving a slight orange and pink hue across the sky. It would be dark within the hour.

When I reached the willow tree, I immediately spotted the long stem rose at the base and walked towards it.

I picked it up and found another note attached.

I frown in confusion, thinking what trail? I looked around the area to see if anything stood out and spotted something red approximately 20 feet away. I walked towards it and discovered that it was rose peddles. They were on the ground and formed a trail that lead deeper into the forest.

I quickly followed the trail, anxious to see where it led me. I had never been to this part of the territory and I was curious why Colton would bring me here.

I walked for a few minutes before coming across a lake. I stopped for a second to admire it, watching the last light of the day glisten across the surface, it was breathtaking.

When I was finally able to peel my eyes away from the picturesque view, I continued to follow the trail of rose peddles. The trail followed along the lake and in the distance I spotted a small wooden cabin.

As I got closer, I noticed lanterns hanging in the trees lighting up the area. There was a large porch out front that overlooked the lake. On it, I could see candles flickering and right in the middle was a bunch of pillows and blankets set up like a bed. There was also a bottle of champagne on ice sitting beside the cozy looking bed. I was blow away by the setup. Did he do all this for me? I wondered.

“Do you like it?” Colton’s deep huskily voice asked, from somewhere behind me. I was so mesmerized by the setup, that hearing his voice startle me. I slowly turned around, while clutching my chest with my hand.

I found him leaning up against a tree, watching me with l**t filled eyes. His arms were crossed over his chest and he looked so damn sexy with his faded jeans and tight grey T-shirt. I swallowed the lump in throat, as my eyes scanned over his perfect body. My core was throbbing just at the sight of him.

“You did this for me?” I asked softly, while motioning towards the setup.

He nodded his head before pushing his body away from the tree and slowly stalked towards me. He had the most intense look in his eyes, my heart was practically beating out my chest. The anticipation was killing me.

“It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind when I said I would take you away, but because of everything going on, I need to stay close to home. I thought you might like it here.” He replied, with a hopeful look in his eyes.

“It’s perfect.” I practically whispered, when he stood only inches in front of me.

He closed the distance between us and my heart beat quickened. His eyes stayed glued to mine and I could see the need and desire swirling within them.
