The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 80

Jessica POV

We were heading home from our mini vacation. Colton made sure to contact the pack doctor and had an appointment lined up for the moment we arrive. If I thought he was acting like a hot mess before the Luna Ceremony, it does even compare to how he’s acting now that we know I’m pregnant. He’s treating me like I’m made of glass and might break at any moment. I’ve lost count at how many times I’ve rolled my eyes at his overbearing ways. I keep reminding myself that he means well, it’s only because he cares and hopefully with time he’ll settle down a bit.

Pretty much right after I took the pregnancy tests, I was hit with morning sickness. I couldn’t believe how bad it got. I was sick at all hours of the day, that probably didn’t help with how Colton was acting. He kept mumbling how helpless he felt.

“Are you ok?” Colton asked, bringing me out of my thoughts. I was sitting in the passenger seat of the car with my eyes closed. I was focusing on my breathing and trying not to vomit and I could feel his concerned eyes constantly glancing over at me.

“I’m fine, just a little nauseous.” I replied without opening my eyes.

“Is there anything I can do?” He asked and I could hear the helplessness in his tone.

“No.” I replied shortly. As much as I felt bad for him, I couldn’t bring myself to say anymore. I was already struggling to keep my breakfast down.

“Do you need to me pull over?” He asked and all I really wanted was for him to shut up so I could focus on not vomiting, but I didn’t say that.

“No. I’m fine.” I replied and I heard him let out a heavy sigh.

We sat in silence for the next five minutes, before he asked the same question again.

“I promise that I’ll tell you if I need you to pull over.” I replied and tried not to sound irritated, but probably failed.

“I’m sorry, I just hate seeing you like this. Why are you so sick?” He asked sounding completely defeated.

“I don’t know, but talking right now really isn’t helping me.” I replied and he let out another sigh.

“Fine, but tell me if I can do anything.” He added and I only nodded my head.

The rest of the drive was in silence, although I felt him constantly looking over at me.

Luckily I was able to hold it together until we reach our territory. That was the best I could do though, as soon as the car stopped in front of the pack house, I jumped out and ran inside to replace the closest washroom and emptied my stomach contents.

“Jess, are you ok?” I heard Colton’s concerned voice on the other side of the door.

I g*****d, before washing my face and rinsing my mouth. I made my way to the door and opened it. Colton was standing on the other side looking panicked.

“I’m fine, it’s just a little morning sickness.” I reassure him with a soft smile.

“Let’s go see the doctor, maybe he can give you something.” He said, while putting his arm around my waist and guiding me towards the door. I didn’t argue and simply nodded.

We walked to the pack hospital and were greeted by a nurse at the front desk. She brought us into a private examination room.

“Dr. Murphy will be in shortly to see you.” She said with a soft smile, before leaving us alone in the room.

The rest of the drive wos in silence, olthough I felt him constontly looking over ot me.

Luckily I wos oble to hold it together until we reoch our territory. Thot wos the best I could do though, os soon os the cor stopped in front of the pock house, I jumped out ond ron inside to replace the closest woshroom ond emptied my stomoch contents.

“Let’s go see the doctor, moybe he con give you something.” He soid, while putting his orm oround my woist ond guiding me towords the door. I didn’t orgue ond simply nodded.

We wolked to the pock hospitol ond were greeted by o nurse ot the front desk. She brought us into o privote exominotion room.

“Dr. Murphy will be in shortly to see you.” She soid with o soft smile, before leoving us olone in the room.

Colton helped me onto the bed, before he started pacing the floor nervously.

“Can you sit down? You’re making me nervous.” I g*****d.

“Sorry.” He said, before coming over to the bed and sitting down beside me.

“Why are you so nervous?” I asked him with a frown.

“You’ve just been so sick, it seems like a lot for morning sickness. I’m just worried that’s all.” He sighed, while taking my hand in his.

“It’s just morning sickness. It’s completely normal.” I tried to reassure him, but I could still see the concern in his eyes.

I would have found this amusing if I didn’t feel so crappy. I was the one reassuring him, instead of the other way around. Gosh I hope this isn’t how the entire pregnancy is going to be. I can just picture labour now, me reassuring Colton in between contractions. I was brought out of my thoughts when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” Colton said..

The door opened and a middle aged man with grey hair and a white doctor’s coat walked into the room. I recognized him right away as Dr. Murphy.

“Alpha, Luna, It’s a pleasure to see you.” The doctor greeted, while bowing his head in respect.

“Thank you for seeing us, Doctor.” I said, offering him a soft smile.

“I know you both must be anxious to see your little pup, so why don’t we get started?” He offered.

“Yes please.” Colton said and let out a relieve breath. The doctor chuckled when he saw how stressed out Colton looked.

“How have you been feeling Luna?” The doctor asked, while rolling over an ultrasound machine.

“I’ve felt better, been pretty sick.” I said with a huff.

“She’s been really sick the past three days. Why do they call it morning sickness, if she’s sick all day?” Colton blurted out, but it was more of rhetorical question.

“It will get better, I can give you something to help with the nausea.” The doctor offered.

“That would be great.” I replied.

“This is going to be a little cold, Luna.” The doctor warned, as he squirted some gel on a wand and lifted my shirt just enough to expose my stomach.

He lowered the wand onto my belly and started to rub the gel onto my skin.

“Hmmmm…interesting.” The doctor said, while looking at the monitor.

“What is it doctor? Is everything ok?” Colton asked and the concern was evident in his tone.

“Sorry Alpha, yes everything looks great. The pups look good and the heartbeats are stro…” The doctor started and I cut him off.

“I’m sorry? Pups? As in multiple?” I blurted out the question.

“Yes Luna. This would explain why you’ve had such violent morning sickness. You’re expecting twins.” He said excitedly, while turning the monitor to show us the screen.

“Holy s**t!” I mumbled and looked over at Colton who looked like a fish out of water, his mouth was opening and closing, but no words came out. His eyes were glued on the two little blobs flickering on the screen.

“Here’s baby A and that’s baby B. It looks likes you’re right around 4 weeks along.” The doctor explained and pointed to each baby on the screen.

“Twins?” Is all Colton managed yo say.

“Yes Alpha. It’s not really that surprising, twins do run in your family.” The doctor explained and my head snapped towards Colton, the shock was clear on my face. He never told me that twins ran in his family. I saw him pale slightly at the doctors words.

“I think I forgot to tell you that.” Colton said sheepishly and paused before continuing.

“My father was a twin and my great grandfather was also.” Colton explained and my eyes went wide.

“I guess we’re getting a head start on that soccer team.” Colton awkwardly teased, when I still hadn’t said anything.

“Would you like to hear the heartbeats?” The doctor asked and that was enough to pull me out of my shocked state.

“Yes please.” I answered and the doctor flicked a button on the monitor. I was immediately greeted with a quick whooshing sound of a heart beat. As soon as I heard it, my heart melted and I knew I was in love. He moved the wand lower on my stomach and a second heartbeat was heard.

Colton squeezed my hand and I turned my gaze to look at him. His eyes were full of love and admiration. I smiled at him, before brushing away a few happy tears that rolled down my cheeks.

Once the doctor was done, he used a towel to wipe the excess gel from my belly and pushed away the ultrasound machine.

“Congratulations. I would like to see you regularly for checkups. Because it’s a twin pregnancy, we will be keeping a closer eye on you.” The doctor explained.

“I’ll give you guys a few minutes. When you’re ready, meeting me out front. I’ll give you a prescription for the sickness and also an appointment schedule.” the doctor said.

“Thank you doctor.” I said, barely above a whisper. He nodded his head before leaving the room.

“Twins run in the family and you didn’t think it would be important to tell me?” I asked Colton with an eyebrow raised and saw him flinch. I wasn’t mad, more amused. Now that the initial shock wore off, I was actually kind of excited about the news. I’ve always like the idea of having twins.

“Honestly, I didn’t even think of it. My dad was a twin, but my grandmother lost one of her pups at birth and my great grandfather was also a twin.” He explained, while rubbing his hands down his face nervously.

“How do you feel about the news?” I asked, while watching Colton having a mini meltdown. He stopped rubbing his face and turned his gaze to me.

“We’re going to have two baby. Not one, but two.” He explained, but it was more to himself. I could help but laugh at how cute he was in his shocked state.

“Yup, that’s what twins usually mean.” I replied sarcastically, while nodding my head.

“We’re going to have two babies.” He said again and this time it looked that the news finally sunk in.

Colton wrapped his arms around me and pulled me in for a tight hug.

“I f*****g love you and those pups.” He exclaimed, while peppering my neck with k****s.

“Now that you know everything is normal, are you going to settle down a notch and stop worrying?” I asked jokingly, but was only half joking.

“Not a chance.” He growl into my neck, causing me to chuckle.

How does that not surprise me? This man is going to drive me crazy during this pregnancy, more than these two pups. I chuckled to myself.
