The Point of Fate -
Chapter Eighteen
Louie
I walked up the mountain pass letting Naula lead me to Anneliese. My head started to get fuzzy and Naula let me have control again. My legs stumbled forward and everything seemed blurry, until I fell in a clearing. I looked up and saw Jared. I shook my head and then saw Cordelia on the other side of the clearing. She looked worried and everything clicked in my head. Jared helped me up and held me to him. His eyes were dark and I could tell he knew that I knew what he was.
“It seems you have a secret...” He said.
“I think your secret is bigger than mine.” I said.
I heard a noise and turned my head. A tall man in a black cloak stepped into the clearing. He was the face from the fire, only this was his true form.
“Richard, restrain her.” Jared said and pushed me to him.
I fell and turned onto my back. I tried to get up, but there was a force holding me to the ground. I looked at Jared who walked around me.
“Jared, please, you don’t have to do this...” I said.
“Actually, if he wants to live beyond the red moon, he does.” Richard said.
“I need part of your power to continue my existence.” Jared said stopping to look at me. “It will only hurt for a little bit, and you won’t die.”
“No, I’ll just become a slave...”
“Not a slave exactly, you will have your own will, but he can override them if he chooses.” Richard said.
The sky grew dark after he spoke and the wind picked up. Jared started chanting something and he stood a little ways from me, in the center of the clearing. black smoke rose from the ground and was absorbed by Jared. I closed my eyes and let a few tears fall from my eyes. The wind roared in my ears and stung my skin a little.
“Make her stand.” Jared said.
His voice was deeper by a little, but I could tell. I tried to teleport, but I only went like an inch.
“Now Louie, your not trying to get away are you?” Jared asked.
I opened my eyes and realized I was standing up. He was standing right in front of me. His eyes were black and black smoke hung around him. I was scared. I tried to use any of my abilities, but nothing was working. He looked sincere, only a little.
“It will be over soon.”
He leaned in and kissed me. Everything around me went black and painful sparks filled my body. I couldn’t scream or move. Then in the darkness, I saw Jared. I knew it was a dream, because it felt different. He looked at me and moved some hair out of my face.
“I’m still your mate Louie.” His voice echoed. “I do love you.”
“What about Cordelia?” I asked, my voice echoing also. “She was your mate.”
“No, she wasn’t. I made here think I was. I didn’t even know who the new princess would be until after I met you. I knew who her wolf mates would be, but not her herself.” He said. “After I met you and figured out who you were, I put off doing anything about living longer. But then Richard told me something.”
“What...did he tell you?” I asked, my voice cracking.
“That since I was mated with you fully, then after the red moon when I would die, that you would too and it wouldn’t be very pleasant.” He said closing his eyes. “I researched it and for some nights I had nightmares about it. I couldn’t let it happen.”
Everything in my mind twisted and everything that Cordelia had said was erased.
“Do you trust me? Do you believe me?” He asked looking sincere.
“Yes.” I paused. “Yes I do.”
“Good.” He said and kissed me.
Everything was brought back to reality and I was back in the clearing. I felt exhausted instantly and collapsed. Jared caught me and picked me up. His face blurred and everything went black.
Jared
“Now all you have to do is kill the mutt and you’ll be home-free.” Richard said looking at Louie, who was passed out in my arms.
“That will be easy. She won’t go against me now that I have her on my side. All I have to do is make Blake go on a killing spree and be the hero that saves everyone.”
“And how do you plan to do that?”
“Easy, he’s going to attack the one thing he loves the most.” I said looking at the sleeping angel. “And I’ll kill him in self-defense or just make him filled with grief, enough to end his own life.”
“I have to say Jared, I had doubts about you, but now I see that you will make an excellent member in our council.” Richard says smirking.
“Well I’m only happy to oblige.” I said “See you later, I have business to attend to.”
“But of course, until next time.” Richard said nodding his head and then vanishing.
“Looks like it’s time to stop the clock.” I said to myself and smiled. “Time to stop Nate’s clock.”
