The Point of Fate -
Chapter Nineteen
I woke up and gasped. Jared was asleep next to me with his arms around me. Memories came flooding back. I was a little confused. I sat up and slipped out of his arms. Images flashed through my mind out of order. I remember the clearing and that other guy and then the talk with Jared and then the pain. I slipped into the bathroom and locked the door. I left the light off and turned the shower on. I waited for it to get hot and then got in. I sank down to the floor and let the hot water hit my skin. I heard someone at the door.
“Louie? Are you okay?” Jared asked.
“Y-yeah, just taking a shower.” I said.
I kept my eyes closed even though the light was off. I mean it didn’t really matter, werewolves could see in the dark anyways. Jared thought I trusted him, but I didn’t. I knew what he had done and I knew what he had planned. I wasn’t going to let him kill Nate, regardless of the monster inside him. I needed to get to him. I had to be careful or else I’d give myself away. I had to make sure Jared thought I trusted him unconditionally. No matter what, I had to shut off my real emotions and fake everything, but it had to be convincing.
“Louie?”
“Yeah?” I asked still keeping my eyes closed.
“May I come in?”
I thought for a moment. “Of course...”
He was going to test me.
“You have to unlock the door sweet heart.”
I slowly got up and opened my eyes. “Give me a minute.”
I slipped out of the shower and grabbed a towel. I took a deep breath and opened the door for him. He smiled and looked me over lustfully. I smiled back and headed away to the shower. I heard the door shut and then felt Jared wrap his arms around me. My stomach twisted but I forced the feelings away and smiled. He kissed me neck and moaned.
“Are you feeling okay?” He asked lowly.
“Yeah...just a slight head ache.” I said, which was true.
“Want me to help you forget it?” He asked, kissing down my neck.
I moaned and nodded. Through the next hour, I let him do whatever he wanted. After that, we dried off and got dressed. I quickly put on a blue v-neck and a ripped pair of capri’s. I put my hair up in a ponytail and left the room, heading for the kitchen. I stopped at the top of the stairs when the small of blood hit me hard. I could see the edge of a blood pool at the bottom of the stairs. Shit, another test.
“What’s wrong?” Jared asked from behind me, putting his hands on my waist.
“Nothing.” I said casually.
My stomach twisted and I knew he was trying to bring out my vampire side.
“Just...a little hungry, that’s all...”
“Then I have a surprise for you downstairs.” He said leading me down the steps.
I wasn’t expecting what I saw next. There in the middle of the room was a tarp. On the tarp, where two chairs, in the chairs were two people I cared about... Jessie and Amelia. Both strapped into the chairs. Both passed out and slouching in the chairs, both bleeding from the neck. Oh my God....Could I really go through with this?
“Here’s breakfast.” He said with a sly smile.
I kept my face in a blank expression. Tears threatened to overflow and run down my cheeks.
“I....can’t...”
“If you love me, you’ll forget who they are and feed.” He whispered in my ear.
Did he seriously expect me to kill my own brother and best friend? Of course he did. He was testing my loyalty...my...love for him. Could I do it though? Could I really kill Jessie and Amelia to save Nate in the long run? To Kill the vicious beast that’s was taunting me right now? If i didn’t he would kill them anyways and then kill Nate and myself probably. I shut my eyes and thought really hard. Trying to change their appearance so it would be easier. I opened my eyes and flung myself at them, killing Amelia first and then Jessie. My body filled with energy and my throat stopped burning. But my heart had shattered into a million pieces and what was more heart breaking was that Jared just stood there and smiled. I stood there awkwardly staring at the blood that ran down the chairs and their legs and began to pool on the tarp. The pool started breaking off into little streams and ran off the tarp and onto the carpet. In my mind, their eyes stared at me, but I wouldn’t look at them. I felt hands on my shoulders, pulling me back, away from them.
“Go take another shower, get some clean clothes and come back down, so I can take you somewhere nice.” He said and kissed me on my forehead.
I nodded and walked back up the stairs, trailing a little blood all the way to my shower.
