The President’s Mistake A Tale of Love and Regret by Carly Glover -
Chapter 313 A New Neighbor
Frey lay on the bed, staring blankly at the yellow crystal chandelier on the ceiling. A bitter smile crept onto her face.
Years ago, Nathaniel had used love to cloud her mind, treating her merely as a tool.
Now, she was playing a similar trick on him, though not as skillfully. He had always been mentally tougher than she was.
The next day was Monday, and Frey had to go to work. Only by immersing herself in the complex design drafts could she feel alive, rather than like a tormented soul.
She woke up early, and as she opened her door, the door of the opposite apartment opened too.
Few people lived in this building due to its prime location and high rent. It was too expensive for those at the bottom, while those at the top found the small apartments unappealing.
Frey had chosen this floor for its tranquility, having verified with property management that no one else was renting nearby.
So, when the opposite door opened, and someone emerged, her mind went blank for a while before freezing in place.
Nathaniel stepped out, dressed neatly in new clothes. Frey had packed his belongings and called Koen to pick them up, but he said he would come at noon.
Frey stared at Nathaniel as he walked out. He acted as if he didn't see her, knowing it was better to take it easy given their current animosity. He knew she hated him, especially after she overturned the table and collapsed the night before. He realized it would take a long time to win her over again.
But it didn't matter; he had time. He wanted revenge on the Gomez family, a plan he had been brewing for over 20 years. Now, he was willing to spend his life trying to steal Frey's heart. Their family feud had already crippled them both, so they might as well torture each other to the end.
With a gloomy expression, Nathaniel entered the elevator without looking at her. His tall frame made the space feel cramped as he stared at Frey, who stood frozen outside.
The elevator doors slowly closed, hiding his handsome but angry face. Frey breathed a sigh of relief.
She turned around and called the property manager, who seemed to have a guilty conscience. Despite his claims of too many residents and no possibility of moving her Frey suspected the entire building was now filled with Nathaniel's lackeys.
Terminating the contract would mean paying a high penalty, which, though she was richer now, she couldn't waste tens of thousands on. She would move out when her lease ended but knew Nathaniel would follow her anywhere.
Sighing, she drove to work, noting the black Bugatti, Hummer, and Bentley outside the apartment. She finally understood what the tenant meant when they said the building was full of tenants.
