The Reckoning of Love Chapter 19

Chapter 19 Celeste’s Apprentice

When Celeste arrived at the Design Department and took a seat, Chelsea passed by and dropped a document on her desk. Despite her shock, Celeste quickly said, “Thanks, Miss Mack!” When she turned around, she realized Chelsea had already left. She picked up the document and looked around, feeling that the atmosphere in the office was different from the day before. No one came to mock her, and they seemed to have forgotten about the embarrassing incident. All of them were focused on their work. As such, she decided to go through the information seriously. The document contained information such as when the Design Department of Greatrep Group was established and the importance of the department. It also included their achievements and the awards the design team had obtained over the years. Celeste was shocked as she went through the information. All the designers were brilliant and had won many awards. Nevertheless, everything went downhill for the past two years. Due to the intense competition in the industry and the improvement of the customers’ fashion sense, the design team hadn’t come up with any novel designs in quite a while. Therefore, it was understandable that the designers were under a lot of pressure. The document also contained information about the designers’ backgrounds. Honestly, after Celeste finished reading everything, she felt that these designers were more innovative than she had expected. All the same, it was only natural that a large corporation like this had the best designers. There was a particular project that Julian was most concerned about, which was the Love Forever series that they were going to launch at the end of the year. It was a set of jewelry with the necklace being the star and a pair of earrings as an accompaniment. They were only given four months to complete the project. They had to hand in the drafts in one month, after which the designs would be evaluated and selected. No wonder the atmosphere in the office is different today. Everyone is working hard to produce their best designs. Since it was a project that the CEO prioritized, the designers wouldn’t dare to be negligent. Even Chelsea and Marlon had joined the design process to produce the drafts that the CEO would be pleased with. That way, they could prove to him that they were capable designers. Three of the designers had been transferred to a subsidiary, and it was said that some employees would be sacked. Everyone was worried about the possibility of getting retrenched. After perusing the document, Celeste received a message on Instagram. She opened it and was surprised to see it was a message from Mr. Moon. ‘How have you been, Master?’ he asked. Upon seeing the message, Celeste quickly texted with a smile and told him that she had recently landed a design-related job. The man was genuinely happy for her, so he said, ‘Given your talent, you should’ve become a designer long ago. May I know the company you’re part of now?’ Celeste didn’t tell him the details as she liked to keep a low profile. After all, she was still in the probation period, so she hadn’t secured the job yet. Then, the man said, ‘By the way, do you remember the draft I showed you the other day? You gave me some advice, and I had a better understanding of how to improve it. The eighth draft earned me an award.’ Celeste was pleased to learn that, and they went on to chat for a while longer. They had been communicating with each other via messages for a long time, but they had never met in person. They got to know one another on Instagram. Since both of them loved designing, they got along well. Mr. Moon was also a designer. Whenever he was faced with a bottleneck over the years, he would show Celeste his design. Then, she would give him some advice and suggestions. Since they didn’t know each other in real life, she felt it easy to be frank with him. The man would always gain some insights and replace new perspectives to look at his design after receiving Celeste’s advice. Therefore, he jokingly called her ‘Master.’ In the CEO’s office on the 22nd floor, Ella stood in front of the windows with a document in her hands while waiting for Julian to finish speaking over the phone. Then, she calmly reported, “Mr. Meister, we’re going through the process of transferring the personnel as per your instructions. Mr. Josh went on a business trip. From what I’ve heard, he has booked the flight ticket for next Monday since he intended to come back earlier.” Julian tucked his hands in his pockets and said icily, “Are all the flight tickets sold out? Given his temperament, he would’ve wanted to appear in front of me right now.” There seemed to be a playful smile on his handsome face. Ella didn’t dare to say anything, for she realized the CEO was displeased.
