Chapter 28

*Braxton’s POV*

I have spent the last few weeks speaking to the doctor’s around here to see if any of them have seen Emily. Either they have not seen her, or they are being mind controlled by the vampire. Everywhere I turn I hit a dead end. I felt like I was so close to replaceing her when I saw her on those video cameras. Now I feel like I am a million miles away again. Connor went back home a couple days after getting a lead on Emily. It is better for my Beta to be back on the pack lands to take things over for me while I am gone. I cannot leave until I replace her.

Today I am focusing on keeping my windows down and circling the town just to see if I can catch Emily’s scent. I know if I can replace it then the people around her scent may have seen her or may even know her. After driving around local grocery stores, fast food places and some schools I start driving by dentists’ offices. Going past the fourth one I catch a very faint scent of Emily. Mixed with the Vampire. I slam on my breaks and pull into the parking lot. I replace a parking spot and park. I cannot get out of the car fast enough. Emily’s scent is stronger the closer I get to the door. Her scent is a few weeks old, but at least there is a scent. I open the door and step inside.

“Hello, may I help you?” The front desk receptionist says to me.

I stop searching the front lobby to turn and look at her. Pulling out Emily’s photo I show it to her. “Have you seen this woman?”

“She has only been in here once. She came here about 3 weeks ago. Can I ask who you are?”

“I am her husband, and I need to replace her. She has been kidnapped.”

The girl looked at me doubtfully. “She came here with her husband. She was pregnant and seemed very happy.”

“That was NOT her husband. She is being forced to be with him.” I say, trying to control my anger.

“Do you have proof that you are her husband? Marriage license, photos?”

Pulling out my phone I pull up our last family photos we had taken as a family. I show her all of them.

Her confident look falters. “Let me get the doctor, maybe he can help you more than I can.”

I sit in the lobby and wait for the doctor to come out. I cannot control my hands from trembling. I can almost feel my arms around Emily again. I knew it was a matter of time before the Vampire would screw up. I guess he though a onetime visit to the dentist would not cause any problems. After about 20 minutes the doctor comes out to the lobby.

“Mr… I am sorry. I do not have a name. Would you follow me back to my office?” He says and extends out a hand to me.

I extend my hand out to him and shake his hand. “Williams. Mr. Williams.”

Getting into his office he closes the door behind us. “Have a seat Mr. Williams. Let us see what I can help you with.”

Taking a seat, I get right to the point. “I have been searching for my wife for a while now. We have a family and I need to get her back.”

“My receptionist said you have photos of you and Emily together. I am sure you can see our confliction though since she came in here healthy, happy and pregnant.”

I wish I could explain Vampires and Werewolves to him. “I can swear to you it was all an act. The man she is with is controlling her and she is his captive.”

“I really want to be able to help you, but I don’t know what I can do. It is against policy to give you her number or address.”

*Mind linking Connor. * “Connor, I need you to call the Dentist I am at. I will text you the number and ask to speak to the doctor. I need you to figure out something to tell him to get him out of his office so I can search for the address he has on file for Emily.” I waste no time in texting him the phone number.

“Would it be possible for you to call Emily? Maybe I can talk to her and she can clear things up for you?” I say to him.

“If she is being held against her will I don’t think that would be the best course of action.”

Thinking to myself. “Of course, it wouldn’t be a smart idea. But I have to stall this guy somehow.”

Right at that moment a knock is heard on the door. The doctor’s receptionist opens the door. “Doctor, you have an urgent phone call on line 3.”

The doctor answers the phone and is only on the phone for a few seconds before hanging up. “I’m sorry but could you wait here for a few minutes? I have to take this call.” He says and leaves the room.

I have no idea what Connor said to him, but I waste no time in going to his filing cabinet. Locked. Breaking the lock, I look inside until I replace Emily’s file. I snap a picture of it quickly and close it back taking my seat back in his office chair. He comes back into the room just a few minutes later.

“I guess it was a trick call. Sorry I had to leave abruptly.”

“That’s okay. I will not waste anymore of your time. You have helped me have hope that I will replace her soon. Thank you.” I say and stand up. I extend my hand out to him and he shakes it.

“You’re very welcome.”

I walk out of his office and out of the building quickly. Getting into my car I quickly pull my phone up. Clearly written in Emily’s beautiful handwriting is her phone number and her address. I quickly type in Connor’s phone number and wait anxiously for him to pick up.

“Brax? What’s going on?”

“I found her address. I do not know how you got the doctor out of the room; I do not really care. You did it though. I need you, my dad and a few more strong pack members’ to be in by tomorrow. We are bringing Emily home.”

“You got it. We will get there as soon as we can.” He says and hangs the phone up.

It takes everything I have to head back to my hotel instead of going to this address. All I can do now is wait for my pack members so we can go after Emily. I think of how my children will run to her when she walks through the door and how I will finally kill that vampire bastard.
