The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 68

-POV Edon-

Ayame was straddling my lap while she looked over some choices for her Luna ceremony. Emily seemed more excited than she was and I was just enjoying my mate's contact while I stared at her perfect marks around her neck. Every day her wolf is getting stronger and stronger and I can feel her moving closer to the surface as the full moon draws near. We all can. Before I even knew what I was doing, my lips fell over the right side of her neck. Ayame froze and my arms wrapped around her torso. "E-Edon...you promised." She whimpered, caving into the peppering of kisses while her wolf purred happily.

Emily pouted irritably and turned her stare to me. "Alpha, can you please restrain yourself?! We are almost done, and I know Ayame is ready to be free from this planning crap. You're riling up your brothers too."

I glanced over at them and they were breathing heavily, smelling her...scent slowly flooding the room. "Little one, we are going to need you to tone it down." Conri growled.

Her breath hitched. "Sorry daddy, I... Edon isn't making this easy." She purred, leaning into me further. I think it is too cute that she only uses her nicknames for us in her mind links or when we are alone.

"Edon, cut it out before I hop over this desk and take her." Vil snapped and Ayame squeaked.

"Ayame!" Emily pulled her off my lap and my bear immediately came to the surface. She may be the Beta Female, but Ayame is mine. I do not take too kindly to someone taking what is mine! Emily let her go and turned her neck in submission. "S-Sorry, alpha."

"No, it's fine Em. Let's go to my room. We can finish up there. I also have dinner to make later. I gave Litty the night off, remember?" Ayame said, quickly collecting their papers off the coffee table.

Emily giggled and picked up the fabrics while they scurried away. "You will receive your punishment for distracting us later, angel."This book has many missing chapters and scenes if you're not reading it on [J] o bn lb. c [o] m. Vil bellowed through the mind link and we heard a faint whine from around the third floor. She really is getting quite fast compared to when she was just a human. Now she takes the stairs like they are nothing.

"So, what are we going to do about the mother-daughter problem?" Kyle asked, looking out the door Emily and Ayame left through. He wasn't too keen on Emily being apart from him for too long lately.

"I don't know, we will have to wait for Charlie to get back. We contacted him over an hour ago and I'm sure he was little too anxious to leave that city, more than we are curious to hear what is happening there." Conri answered while checking some documents between his computer and desk.

"Nothing, there is nothing to tell!" Charlie said, plowing his way through the office and throwing himself onto a couch. He was panting. I'm sure he ran the rest of the way once he dropped off his car. "You didn't stay for tea?" Vil mocked.

"It's not funny, Vil. She isn't even trying to pretend to make amends. It's so obvious she wants to get a way into the territories. I don't feel comfortable going back there." Charlie said. "Walking into her plan may very well have the opposite effect to what we were initially intending." "Well, you need to. What did you tell her?" Conri asked again, not really reading the room. It's not like he ever does. If someone has a problem with his responses, they can leave.

"I told her I'd call her. Then she had the audacity to look like a straight up prostitute. I was not walking out of the house with her dressed like that! She has absolutely no respect for her body or the mate bond! She may have rejected me, but I can't pretend not to care for that long. With her prancing around like that...I would have killed a human if I had stayed!" Charlie was getting angrier by the second.

I sat next to him and rested my hand on his shoulder. "It's okay man. We are going to have to think of a different plan." Honestly, I thought it was a better idea to think of a different plan in the first place. I really think that Vil and Conri are the only two who think this is a good idea. I'm with Ayame on this one... This isn't fair to someone we call our best friend.

"What if Emily and Kyle come with you next time?" Conri asked, again not reading the room.

"Look, I know this is all about keeping Ayame safe, but I draw the line at putting Emily at risk. I almost lost her last time. No, Conri." Kyle interjected.

"Excuse me." Conri growled back.

"Conri!" I shouted and he turned to me while his eyes shifted from black to green. "Outside." I growled through my teeth and got to my feet, moving straight to the back patio. The minute we got outside, the pack members sitting on lawn chairs, enjoying the sun, immediately got up and left. At least they could read the tension. I waited for them all to head in before turning to my brother. "You are way out of line here."

"Me out of line?! Kyle and Charlie are giving orders, Edon. I do not take orders from my Beta and my Head Warrior." His tone did not escalate but the air chilled around him. He was pissed.

"Of course, because you are the oldest and one of the alphas, so what you say tends to go. You didn't even listen to me in there. Charlie and Kyle may not be your equal, but I am! I want Richard gone as much as you do. When we finally found out his name, all I wanted to do was watch the light drain from his eyes, but I am not going to put anyone else at risk to do so."

"So, how do you propose we do this? If we take mom and Malerie back here now, we lose our only connection to that slimy pustule of a man. If Charlie goes back with Kyle and Emily, we have three sets of eyes on him. We get the opportunity to give ourselves options. Do you want Ayame taken away from us again?! I will never let that happen again. You hear me?! Never again!" I stepped back in shock. Conri doesn't yell. Like...ever.

"The hell is wrong with you man?!" I asked, holding my bear back as my chest heaved. I can't fight him here and that won't solve anything, but just like his Lycan, my bear cannot condone disrespect from anyone. Especially the one we let be in charge.

"I cannot take back what we did, and the time it took, to get her back the first time, but I will not make that mistake twice, Edon. She will never get hurt again!"

"You can't promise that, Edon." Ayame said, standing in the doorway between the patio and the kitchen. I didn't even notice she would be able to hear us. It looks like their planning was cut short.

"Ayame, I -"

"No, Conri, you need to think. I know you are worried about me and I'm so happy that all three of you are caring for me and want my safety to be the number one priority. Even Kyle and Charlie are men I can trust unconditionally. That is something I wouldn't have been able to even think about this time last year."

Conri growled and stepped towards Ayame. "They are creating insubordination in my pack." His eyes were black now.

Ayame stood up to him and barred her teeth while her eyes shifted to a vibrant oceanic mixture of sapphires and emeralds. "I will not allow you to put other pack members at risk for my safety! We didn't do so well last time. Get over it! Charlie's heart is more important than seeing Richard get what he deserves. I want to make sure I still have a family when we are done with him or he's won! I will not let the villain win!" She shouted using her Luna voice.

"Ayame, this is not the time!" Conri shouted and, at that point, I had to stand in between them.

"Conri, ease up, brother. Our pack needs to make the right decision for the collective, not for the individual." I warned, using dad's words against him.

He shot his glare at me before storming off and slamming the glass door behind him. It shattered from the vibrations and there wasn't much we could do about that. "Hey!" Ayame shouted, going after him, barefoot. "I am not done with you!"

I immediately picked her up and she started to squirm. "Princess, there is glass on the floor. Hey, how about this? I will help you in the kitchen. We will let him cool off and get some of our maintenance crews over here to get this fixed. It's okay, princess. Please calm down." It's like everyone keeps forgetting she cannot force a shift yet.

She heaved in a breath while I looked at her eyes to check and see if her wolf was still present. She was, and to be honest, that wasn't the safest thing. She still hasn't shifted yet, and we want to keep it that way. It will be easier for her to complete the first shift during the full moon when her instincts will be at their highest. Until then, we have to keep her calm. We have to wait.

Ayame was listening to me, but I wasn't sure if she would try to make a break for it, so I slipped her around in my arms so I could cradle her. Then, we walked to the other side of the patio. Thankfully, there was more than one exit or I'd have to walk all the way around the house. Emily saw us through the door and hurriedly opened it for me. Once we made it inside, I set her down on her feet and turned to close the door behind me.

I took a breath and turned to her, wrapping my hands on her wrists. Only just tight enough that she couldn't get away, but nothing too over the top. I just want her to focus on me and not her anger. "Why won't you let me talk to him?! He is wrong?" She growled. "Yes, he is Ayame, but I need you to be calm. Remember what we talked about?" I cooed softly, forcing my spirit to calm down as well. Fuck talking to Conri, I wanted to slam his head into the dirt. Maybe that would knock some sense into him.

"What's wrong?" Vil called from the other side of the kitchen.

"What do you think?" I asked, looking between him and Ayame.

"Conri finally reached his limit." Vil said, and it wasn't a question. "Again. That man really hates it when he has to make hard decisions." This has only happened a couple of times, but the last one was so long ago, I almost forgot Conri had the ability to get angry. The one on our flight back from the island was cute. Nowhere near what we are dealing with now or what we dealt with before.

"It's okay Vil. You chat with the guys and I'll help Ayame and Emily in here." I volunteered.

"You want me to play ref?" Vil asked through the link.

I sighed, thankful that he and I were at least on the same page. Sometimes, having two brothers is hard. Let's not even begin to start with the other challenges we have to deal with, being the alphas and all. "Please." I begged.

He nodded his head to me and disappeared around the corner. "I'm so angry right now." Ayame said, shaking with tears forming in her eyes, drawing my attention back to her.

"Yes, princess. I know. Sometimes it's hard for shifters to control their emotions and they can get a bit out of hand. I'm just glad you stood up to him. Just remember, you are right. He is wrong. I'm glad we have our Luna to check us every now and then. Let's just focus on getting dinner finished up. It smells delicious and I'd hate for it to burn." I furrowed my brow as she nodded slowly. The relief was prominent almost immediately when I saw that small gesture. It even calmed my spirit down. I wonder if he was more angry for her than about the situation. "Yeah, because I have no idea what I'm doing." Emily whined from behind us and Ayame giggled before gently pulling away from me. I allowed it and let her wrists go.

She wiped the tears off her cheeks before leaning onto my chest. "Thank you, Edon. I'm fine now. Dinner will be ready in around an hour. Please go back to the office. I'm fine. Honest." She hummed softly.

"Okay, princess. Howl if you need us." I added, and I got another smile from our wonderful mate before kissing her nose and heading back to the office.
