The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 8

-POV Edon-

Right after I closed the door to the bathroom, I could feel myself losing control. Her smell was delicious. I was about to lose my mind on the sweetness of raspberries and chocolate if I stayed in there for even a minute longer. My favorite dessert in a walking, talking human. I grit my teeth and immediately b-lined it out to the hallway, closing the door to my room as well.

I sprinted to the other side of our floor and made it to our office faster than I thought possible. "Okay, you two have too much faith in me!" I said with a huff, slamming the door to our office.

Vil and Conri were sitting in their normal places. One at the desk, Conri, and the other flopped on the couch, Vil, but they both glared at me. "What did you do?" Conri asked with a menace in his tone.

"I didn't do anything, brother. I almost did, but I didn't. I never thought in a million years I would be attracted to a human! The lure of her is almost too much, dude. It's crazy. I actually enjoy watching her pouting and don't even get me started on her laugh and her scent. It may be covered in dust right now, but that smell of raspberries and chocolates had my blood pumping faster than a six-hour workout!" I groaned before falling on the loveseat across from Vil.

"There are other issues at hand here other than your enjoyment of her facial expressions, Edon." Conri added bluntly.

"Of course, there are. She is terrified even if she isn't showing it!" Vil added. "I told you this would happen. We are putting too much faith in this. She thinks we are mythical creatures from her romance books and childhood bedtime stories!"

"But she isn't terrified of us." Conri added.

"Yeah, she's almost too calm about that." I agreed, remembering her giggles about my species. What kind of bear did she think I was going to be? A stuffed one? It was adorable though.

"Yes, but we will still have to take this slowly." Conri concluded. "The last thing we want to do is turn that fear onto us. Whatever her ex did to her is something that is unforgivable. I know it was on reflex, but she thought Vilkas was going to hit her. I wasn't expecting you to ever say sorry to anyone, but I never thought you would hit her. However, she did." He added.

"How slow are we talking here because I don't know how long I can sate the asshole in my mind. Vil said, wincing a bit. He isn't wrong either. My spirit is also doing backflips. We are twenty-seven years old. We have waited nine years for our mate. This is a dream come true, but none of us ever expected her to come to us with such trauma. That complicates things more than the fact that she is human.

Not to mention that Vil's wolf is the most untamed out of the three of us and I'm sure this isn't fun for him. "Oh...poor Vil can't get his puppy under control?" I whimpered playfully, trying to lighten the mood.

He growled and rolled his eyes. "That's not it. I need to know if we are moving on or not. She's so...tiny and breakable. I think we should've just left her in the snow. She is not what I was expecting for our Luna." "The fuck did you just say?!" I spat back. He cracked his neck and I was more than ready to lunge at him. How could he say that out loud? I knew he was apprehensive, but seriously...the hell?! "Listen here, Vilkas. I-"

Conri rapidly stood to his feet, stopping our argument in its tracks. "Something is wrong." He said before running off. We high tailed it after him and made it to my room?

"Why are we here?" I asked. "There was no sign of anyone else on our floor when I left." I said, automatically assuming there was an intruder.

Conri pushed open my door - without asking, I may add - and pushed through to the bathroom. The bath was empty and I immediately started to panic until I saw our little princess huddled in the corner between the shower and the toilet in tears. "Ayame?" Conri said, slowly walking up to her.

She held out her shaking hands, but this time it wasn't so we could pick her up. Nope, she was pushing us away. And there goes the other shoe. The easy-going girl we thought we had is long gone. "What's wrong? Why aren't you taking a bath?" I asked, sitting on the ground in front of her again. I realized she doesn't enjoy people hovering over her. I'm sure it's that asshole's doing.

"I...I shouldn't be here." She confessed. "Definitely not with you three. I'm not good enough." She whimpered as her doe eyes continued to flood with tears.

I winced at that assumed fact. It physically hurt me as if -.

"She's rejecting us." Vil and Conri said together through our link. Their breathing quickened and I had to be the levelheaded one...again.

"Like I said, she isn't cut out for this and she doesn't want us in the first place!" Vil shouted.

I pursed my lips, trying my best not to yell at him. I need to focus on Ayame. "What do you mean you shouldn't be here? Not good enough? I know we pushed a lot on you, but I'm sure it's not that bad here. We aren't going to push you any more than what you are comfortable with. We will make sure you are safe. No one is going to get you." I reassured her.

She shook her head. "That's not it.......this can't be real. You guys look like...well...you guys, and I'm not the best thing to stare at...ever."

I got to my feet and walked up to her. I sat down and looked her in the eyes. She wasn't recoiling. That's a start. "I got this, guys. Don't worry about it. She's not going to reject us. I think there are some self-confidence challenges we have to work on as well. While I do that, maybe you can get your shit together, Vilkas. If you don't want her, fine, but I'm not going to let you near her ever again."

I heard Vilkas scoff as he slammed his way out of my room. Bull in a china shop, that one. Conri cleared his throat and I didn't have to turn around to know he was on my side with this. For now, I don't know how he feels about Ayame, but I do know he's not completely against the idea. "Let us know if you need us." Conri said before they walked off.

"Let me help you." I said softly when the door closed.

She shook her head but I tilted her chin with my finger so she had to look at me. "You're going to think...I'm hideous. Trust me, there is really nothing to look at under here." She said breathlessly. "There isn't enough soap or beauty products to change that fact."

I smiled. "I guess we have a serious case of underestimating the mate bond then. I don't care what you are wearing or what you look like, Ayame, and neither do my brothers. The Moon Goddess chose you for us. Your soul is what we crave. The sexy body in front of us is just a plus." I added with a joking grin, but I was dead serious. She may not see it herself, but I do. Her long raven hair and vibrant hazel eyes were calling to me.

She blushed and finally looked at me. "So...you won't throw me away because I'm damaged?"

I blinked for a moment in shock. Damaged?! Why the hell - ugh that ass again! I'm going to make him wish he was never born. "Where would you get a thing like that?"

"From the man who damaged me." She whispered, but I'm sure that was not for my ears to hear.

I sucked in a breath through my teeth and stood to my feet, holding out my hand. "I'll get you in the bath and wash your hair, then I'll leave you to it." I swore.

I don't know if I can hold myself back, getting a full view of what's ours, but I'll do my best for her. She needs this and if this helps her in any way, I will calm my horny-self down. Her brows furrowed and she stayed where she was. Not at all giving me any inkling that she was okay with this. Maybe.... "I have an idea, I'll be right back." I said, slowly walking towards the door. "Please...don't leave." I whispered and she gasped, turning towards me while I ran out the door.

I don't know what came over me, but that just slipped out. I ran down the stairs and, unfortunately, one of the girls I was...with last week happened to be in the common room. "Edon!" She shouted happily, turning the heads of those in the room. She was a werebear like me, but she was just a good time. Short-lived to let off some steam. Nothing more.

I decided the best option was to ignore her then, and now. I turned toward the storage room and looked around at the collection of crates and boxes we had stowed away here. There were rows of stuff for almost everything one would need. "Found it!" I shouted happily. It was around noon now, so the pack house tends to have more people hanging around. It makes for good parties, but also nosy pack members. Like the girl from earlier. I pulled open a box of women's bath products while her sickly scent of perfume lured into the dimly lit room. Did her scent always make me this uncomfortable?

"Found what, Edon? I'm right here." The girl asked, folding her arms irritably. I hate it when girls pout. It drives me nuts! So damn needy. Then, Ayame's face flashed in my mind when she was pouting about us having other women in our rooms. It made me...happy that Ayame was jealous, but the girl in front of me made me want to hurl.

I can't even remember her name and I don't know what possessed me to like her at all. "She's not as pretty as Ayame either." My spirit snorted and I pushed past the girl with the products in my hand. I don't have time to be nice.

I ran up the stairs and when I hit the third flight, I turned on my heels. Surprise...surprise. I was being followed. "Look, go downstairs, you are not allowed on our floor anymore. I made that clear last week. Don't follow me." I warned coolly before continuing my trek up the stairs. I walked into my room and slowly opened the bathroom door. "Edon?" Ayame called in her soft voice.

"Yes, it's me." I said, immediately perking up. When she called out my name, it made my heart sing. It sounded so nice. I stood over the tub and started to drain the water. "It might have gotten cold. I'll add some more hot water." I called over my shoulder and turned the bathwater on again when it was about half empty. I added in the bubbles I'd found and made sure there were a ton of them, then I placed the lavender body soap, shampoo, and conditioner next to the ones I saw Elizabeth had put next to the bath. They were mine, so I'm assuming she wouldn't appreciate a dude smelling soap.

I turned on my heels and she was staring at me confused. "Bubble bath?" She asked with a smile beginning to form.

My spirit and I were elated to see her smile again. "Yes. So I can't see anything and you can feel more comfortable. I put a ton in." I said. Hopefully it doesn't overflow. Meh, whatever. I'll do whatever I can to keep her comfortable...and to keep my bear at bay. "I'll turn around and let you get in first. Then, I'll wash your hair."

"O...okay." She agreed. Thank the goddess. I turned around and covered my eyes for good measure. That brought a giggle out of her. My new favorite sound. "Thank you for giving me modesty." She added before I heard the water shift and the faucet turned off. "You can turn around now."

I gulped and turned on my heels, seeing this small frame peeking out from the bubbles. She was so tiny. I winced seeing some of her spine. I grit my teeth making sure I didn't show her my anger. That bothered her before and I won't do that again if I can help it. I got on my knees next to her and rolled up my sleeves. "I'm going to wash your hair now, princess."

She blushed bright red. "S-sure, but I'm not a princess or anything." She corrected me.

I smirked and gently pulled her hair out from under the water. It was still tied in what was left of her braid. I unraveled it and let it soak. "You're a princess to us and that's all that matters." She will be our queen soon enough, but that isn't for us to tell her...yet. "Now dunk your head so I can put soap on it."

She nodded and immediately dipped her head in the water. When she came back up, she rubbed her cheeks and all the make-up was gone. What was left was the wounds of my nightmares. She looked like she'd been through war. I grabbed the shampoo and got to work. "We have to tell them. Now." I held back a sigh and watched her play with the bubbles.

"We will. When we are done here. Mate first." Ha! Kill second.

"So, how old are you if you mind me asking?" I said, rubbing the second layer of soap in her hair.

She was smiling again, well as much as she could through the swollen lip I didn't notice before. "I'm Twenty. My birthday was two days ago."

I flinched. "Happy birthday, princess. I'm sorry we didn't replace you sooner. Then we could have celebrated." I tapped her head, and she dunked her head in the water again, rinsing out all the remaining dirt.

She shook her head. I started to apply the conditioner stuff next. "I ran away from him on my birthday and I didn't even realize the two were the same day until the lady at the train station told me it was. Sad that I for-forgot my own birthday...huh?"

I twisted her hair up and went to go get a hair tie. Thankfully, I have longer hair like Conri - well not that long - but the two of us tend to tie our hair up when we are out and about. I secured her hair in a bun and went to go wash my hands. "Not at all. You have been going through a lot. I hope the bath helped. I'll be in the office if you need me. It's on the other side of the living room we were in earlier. Let me go grab you something to wear and then I'll let you relax. I'll also give you an update on when the doctor will be here once I chat with my brothers." I said. She nodded absent-mindedly, and I walked out to my closet and grabbed a t-shirt and a pair of sweat pants that should be comfortable for her. They will be a bit big, but the pants have a drawstring and I'm sure she doesn't want anything putting pressure on her wounds. I only saw her shoulders and arms, but if that is any indication of what our little princess was going through, I don't want to know how much pain she was actually in. I slipped them onto the counter and closed the door behind me without another word.

When I say I sprinted to the office again, that would be an understatement. I closed the door behind me and fell to the floor. I combed my hands through my hair as the rage shook through me. I didn't want her to see me pissed and now my body was shaking. I was losing control. "Edon, calm down." Conri said, kneeling next to me.

"The hell happened?!" Vilkas growled.

"She...she didn't...um...." Conri started.

I shook my head and slammed my hands on the floor. The wooden slats cracked under my fists. I will have to replace some floorboards later. Great. "Come on Edon! Talk!" Vilkas shouted.

I looked at him as my eyes turned yellow. "I'll kill him." I growled and the two of them looked at each other before looking at me.

"That bad?" Conri asked through gritted teeth while Vilkas stayed silent, completely uninvested.

I smirked with absolutely no amusement. "Worse. Way worse."
