The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 9

-POV

Ayame-

The bath was nice, to say the least. After he was done washing my hair, I felt like nothing in the world could make me feel as terrible as I was before. I felt like I had been renewed. I soaked in the bath after carefully washing my body and just enjoyed the smell of lavender. I guess the

thing he was looking for before was some soap for me. How sweet.

Once I finally saw my fingers pruning, I decided that was the best time to hop out. I dunked my hair once more and carefully unraveled it from the bun Edon placed it in. If he wasn't a bear, I'd say he would have been a great hair stylist. I climbed out slowly and grabbed a towel. The white fabric was so soft and plush. I could have sworn it was warm too. It wouldn't surprise me if they had a towel warmer in this weather. Werespecies or not. It's freezing.

Once I was dry, I retied my damp hair in a bun and let some of the shorter hair cover my face. He might not have said anything, but I know without the concealer, I looked a whole lot worse. That is very fitting though. I feel a whole lot worse. The pain on their faces when I tried to push them away made my heart hurt. Edon was so patient with me while the other two looked like I had punched them in the face. I need to apologize. I regrettably stared at my body in the mirror and noticed the clothes he left me.

When I unfolded the shirt and pulled it on, then the sweatpants, I thanked every higher being that it covered most of my body. The sleeves even went down past my elbows. I turned on my heels and left my shoes on the floor with my other dirty clothes that I tried my best to neatly fold before putting them in the corner. I walked out of his room and looked around. He had a small fireplace facing a four-poster bed made with light wood and a nice grey and dark blue bed set. Everything wasn't perfectly in place, but his bed was made and there wasn't underwear on the floor. That's a positive.

Richard had a maid, but I'm sure if he didn't, his room would have been a disaster. He never put anything back where he found it.

I slipped my hand over the matching dresser standing tall at the foot of the bed and turned around to see a loveseat facing a flat screen. Like a mini version of the living room we were in before. There was a black-and-grey plaid blanket thrown over the back that matched the black fabric of the cushions. I was about to snuggle in when I realized I was by myself and that was starting to...to get to me. I slowly walked to the door, terrified that he had locked it, but when I turned the silver handle, the latch clicked and the large door pushed open towards the hallway with ease. I stepped out expecting someone to be walking around or watching me. To no avail.

I sighed in relief and continued to walk in the direction Edon told me about before. "Past the living room..." I mumbled to myself as my feet pattered lightly on the ground.

"Third door on the right." Another voice said. I spun around and screamed without thinking.

"What the hell did you do?!" Vilkas said, catching the man by the throat. Where did he come from so fast?!

"I......" The man was trying to struggle out words but Vilkas was not letting up.

"Wait, stop!" I begged and Vilkas looked down at me on the floor. Vilkas winced, then let the man drop. The man started to cough while he caught his breath. "Th-thank you, Vil-Vilkas." I said, trying his name out. I had already said Edon's name and it made my heart pound. I guess the same goes for Vilkas's as well. Luckily, saying his name did distract him as well. Vilkas's whole demeanor shifted. "It was my fault. He startled me when he was giving me directions. That's all. I...I overreacted."

Vilkas looked at me as if he was sucking on a lemon. He was annoyed with me again. It was written all over his face. "Dude, what did we miss?" Another guy that kind of reminded me of Edon came up and picked up the man Vilkas had choked.

I scrambled to my feet and both guys looked at me while another came out of nowhere. Where do all these giant people keep coming from? I walked up to the man who was almost strangled because of me, and looked down at my feet. "I'm really sorry I didn't mean to." I whispered. Then a hand popped up into my view, startling me again, but I made sure not to freak out this time. Thankfully, it was outstretched for me to shake, not to hit me. "Kyle." He said. "I should have announced myself. Don't worry about it. I was just messing with you." I looked up and he was rubbing his head with his other hand and the bruise around his neck was already healing. Lucky him. I hesitated and he let his hand drop, but then he looked at me closely. "What the hell happ-"

"Enough! Let's go." Vilkas called. The three of them froze and ran off behind him. "You too, Ayame!" He called again and I squeaked before running after them. I was in trouble. Already.

Vilkas flung the door open to reveal the remaining two triplets. Edon was on me faster than I could catch my breath. "Nothing broken, right? We heard a scream."

"Broken? That...would be for me to replace out. This seems to be a rather lively room this afternoon." A short man with a silky white beard and pointed ears came in the room and to say that the others towered over him as much as they did me was an understatement. He turned to look me in the eye and smiled brightly as his eyes flashed yellow, then green, then purple. Once they went back to another color, like a navy blue, his smile fell and he looked at me with a tear in his eye. "I'm so sorry." He mumbled, rolling up his starch white sleeves. "So, you did do something!" Vilkas shouted and Conri held him back from punching Kyle.

"I didn't do anything!" Kyle called back, stepping further into the room.

"And he is right about that! Stop your incessant arguing. She was only startled. That is all. Your Beta would never harm your mate." The Doctor grumbled.

"Mate?!" The new boys shouted, including Kyle. The other two still haven't introduced themselves and I wasn't going to pry.

"Later." Conri said shortly, and they all stiffened before nodding and turning back to me. "So then, why the apology, doc?"

The short man, I now believe is the doctor, turned to Conri and scoffed. "She will tell you when she wants to. That is none of my business."

"Yeah...just like it was none of your business to tell them we found our supposed mate." Vilkas growled. His emotional shifts are giving me whiplash.

"Oh come on, I had an idea when you were about to clock Kyle. There was no way you three would have been able to cover this up for long." The guy that picked Kyle off the floor said. "Shut it, Vince." Vilkas added. Oh! So his name is Vince.

Now all that was left was the other guy that came in behind those two. I dared my eyes to assess him while he quietly sat next to Vince on the couch. "Charlie." He said, looking straight at me.

I nodded. "N-nice to meet you."

He grinned. "I'm the head warrior, Vince - or Vincent - is the Gamma and Kyle is the Beta. He, in particular, is an acquired taste."

I nodded slowly, trying to remember everything. "Anyway. Let me focus." The doctor grumbled and the six men decided to chat amongst themselves, but the room stayed quiet. I think they were doing that whole telepathy thing again. The color of their eyes started to dull and their expressions shifted, but no words were flowing. It was a rather interesting thing to watch.

The Doc tapped me on my shoulder, and I winced, but I covered it up just as quickly. I don't want them to fight the doctor too. He seemed really nice. "It's called a mind link child. A very powerful gift given to the shifter species by the moon goddess. I know you are human, so I'm sure this all comes to a shock to you, but they are having a full conversation in their minds. Still coherent to what's around them, of course."

I smiled and shook my head. "Believe it or not, my mother was into a lot of this when I was growing up and she always called my father her soulmate. He died when I was a baby, so...you never know, but this world is already better than the one I left behind. I have no complaints." He chuckled. "That is wonderful to hear. From what I saw in your mind, I'm happy that you are smiling again. Such tragedies shouldn't define your future, my dear. I love your optimism and you can always come to me if you want to talk." He added.

"Sure, that would be nice since you know everything already." I agreed, then I froze. "Wait, in my mind?" I asked.

"Yes, we dwarfs may not be able to use mind link, but we can see one's past. It makes it really easy to see if someone is lying or...to treat their injuries. In this world, we usually stick to healing or the jury." He said with a chuckle. Then he looked back at my injuries and winced. If he saw my past, he'd know how I got all of these injuries. None of those memories are pretty.

"So...then you saw...um...." I tried to finish my train of thought, but I ended up burying my words, along with my face further towards the couch, if that were possible.

"Unfortunately, yes my dear, but I will not divulge any information I have found, no matter how hard they stare at me." The doctor added with a wink, and that is when I noticed their mind link conversation thing was over and Conri, Edon, and Vilkas were looking between me and the doctor worriedly. They all three rolled their eyes when he told them that he wouldn't say anything. The doc completely ignored this action though.

Then they turned to me. I know they just want to help and I know Richard is a terrible person, but I don't want him pummeled out of existence or hunted down. As long as he stays away from me and doesn't come looking, there should be no reason for them to go replace him anyway. "Later?" I said, mimicking Conri's response from before, and they sighed in relief. That will subdue them for a while, but not forever.

"Now, I'm going to do some healing so you don't have to deal with all those pesky bruises, but the bones will have to heal on their own. I'm a dwarf, not a miracle worker." He took a deep breath and my body started to glow. It was amazing.

I lifted my arm and all the contusions, welts, and bruises were gone in an instant. The weight on my body felt much lighter, but now I could feel what he was talking about when it came to broken bones. My ankle, wrist, shoulder, and ribs started burning. This time I couldn't hold it in and the shock had me doubled over. "Sorry, I'm fine." I called, realizing it was more than just three people hovering over me now. There were five and one of them wasn't Vilkas. I glanced at him and he rolled his eyes and stared down at a notebook. Confirmed. He doesn't want me. That punch in the gut was much more painful than the residual pain engulfing my body right now.

"Will you idiots back off? I'm not done. Geeze. I never said this was going to be easy now, did I?" Doc grumbled.

"You didn't say it would hurt her either." Edon countered, while they all sat back in the same places they were at before, but not before Edon cut a glare at his brother.

"Well, next time I treat a human, I will remind you of that." Doc said curtly. "Now, my dear, I'm going to wrap up those bones and give you a salve that should help the swelling and the pain. We also have some pills you can take to help you sleep if you need it, but it's not like human medication. One of those things will be like a horse tranquilizer to you, so please use them sparingly. I'll lighten the dosage, but it will still knock you out for several hours. Now, it will take a few weeks to get everything back up to snuff, but the scars...that will take much longer. I unfortunately cannot heal those."

I smiled sadly and nodded. "It's okay. They will just remind me of what not to do ever again. A couple of scars won't kill me. I'm just glad the pain is gone." I added, trying to stay positive like he said. I know what scars he's talking about. Crazy that he knows about them as well when most of them are on my back and shoulders. I have one on my neck that goes up to my cheek but that is the only scar the Doc left in view after doing that healing magic.

"Well, when I talk to our head doctor, he might have something that will remove them for you, but unfortunately that is well and above my pay grade." The Doctor added. At that, I waited patiently for him to wrap my wrist and ankle while I racked my brain on what I could have done to Vilkas to be so hated. The doc gave me a sling for my shoulder and left the bottle of salve and pills that he promised me on the coffee table. "Now remember my dear, it's only scarring and it doesn't define you. Also, you need to change your wrappings twice a day, and when you can, make sure to use the salve on your shoulder and the left side of your torso. It will help with the rib crack and the shoulder. Oh, and don't forget that ankle. That's a pretty hard injury, dear."

He threw everything else in his bag and I tapped him on his shoulder. "Excuse me?" I said softly.

He turned around to face me again and he was worried, like I was going to rip his head off or something. "Like I said, I'll make sure I replace the best salve, just for you." He said hurriedly and I could feel the glares on him again.

I shook my head. Those injuries weren't his fault and I'm not expecting to look brand new after the turmoil I've endured. "It's okay if you can't. Honest...I don't mind. I just wanted to say thank you for helping me. This....this really sucks to do on my own." I added, and he finally laughed again in relief.

"Oh, I'm sure it was no easy feat." He added, more relaxed now. Probably something to do with the boys looking elsewhere. I may be human, but my sixth sense isn't for the faint of heart.

I laughed along with him. "Oh, it wasn't. I have my mother to thank for that. She was a nurse. I think it runs in my blood. I was bandaging my dolls by the time I was two."

"Oh! So, are you a human doctor?" He asked excitedly.

"No...unfortunately. I wanted to go the sales route so I was getting my degree in marketing. But I was also thinking about dual majoring in biochemistry, but um...." I felt my heart drop as I remembered all the things I was forced to leave behind when he trapped me with him. The doctor rested his hand on my knee. "One day, even though I can only see the past, I see great things from you, Miss.Pierce. Enjoy your afternoon. I will be in touch." He said before heading out the door.
