The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 27

-POV Conri-

So glad we are okay? That was the first thing she says when she sees us literally ripping other wolves to shreds. She wants us to be okay. When I heard Edon tell me that they were after Ayame.... There was no stopping my lycan from taking blood. But...when she hugged me, it calmed my Lycan down almost immediately.

While we walked back to the pack house, Edon was talking to Ayame and it seemed like she was finally aware of the magnitude of a werebear. It was...amusing to say the least. "I mean...you were huge! It's not like in the pictures at all. It's like really real." Ayame said, with the perfect theatrics to go with it. She almost flipped backwards off of his forearm as she stretched her arms out.

"We already told you he's not a stuffed animal." Vilkas grumbled.

Edon laughed at this and Ayame rolled a bit so she could see Vilkas over Edon's shoulder. "I knew that much at least when he told me what type of bear he was Vil." She added. "Still." He shot back.

She fidgeted back into Edon's arms and folded her arms in front of her. I guess she wasn't kidding when she said she would be going above and beyond to annoy him. Let's just say Vil's thoughts weren't the quietest after she forgave him. I'm sure his wolf was having a party in our heads. "Nobody asked you." She grumbled right back and even I wanted to punish her for that.

Vil shot a glare right back and before I knew it, she was slung over Vilkas's shoulder and he smacked her right on her ass. "Oh really? That's the game we want to play?" He asked with a slight grin. Another smile from the everlasting brute of a man.

She squealed and tried to wiggle out of his grasp, but he was holding onto her securely. "Yes!" She finally shouted through her laughs. Maybe they actually completed the full apology this time.

Vilkas was closer to Charlie and Vincent and they made sure they were still a few steps ahead while our princess continued to wiggle in Vil's arms. The rogue was still being dragged by Charlie and I was happy that they steered clear...just in case the bastard woke up. The last thing we needed was for that thing to make a break for our Luna. Smart.

However, I cannot wait to figure out why they were going after her in the first place. I will pry it out of them if I have to. "Conri?" I raised a brow and turned to Edon.

He was now keeping pace with me. "Yes, brother?" I asked.

He winced and looked over to Ayame. I think Vilkas got tired of resituating her because she was now being cradled. Her head was resting on his shoulder and her arms were wrapped around his neck. It was cute. "I was terrified she was going to run away this time, dude. That she was going to look at our spirits like they were monsters. You know, finally realizing what we really are. But.... She...she ran straight for us." Edon said in shock, like it still hadn't sunk in. Just like it hadn't for me.

I nodded. "Yes." What else was I supposed to say?! I'm not one for heart to hearts. These two are starting to expect a lot from me.

"So?" He pried again.

"Yes, Edon. I was surprised too." I said, just to get him off my back while my eyes rolled.

"Not that, Conri." He interjected bluntly.

I huffed remembering the promise I made to him and Vil three weeks ago. Edon never misses an opportunity to ask about my progress. We all thought it was a relief she fits in so well in our world. How open-minded she was about what we were.... But it also didn't sit well with us. No matter how you slice it, her familiarity of our kind didn't just come from the books she loves to read or her mother's old stories.

There had to be something else.

"Still nothing, but now that she has gotten closer to Vilkas, I think it's time we talked to her directly." We have so much to talk about. The mate bond, her mark, her past...our role. My head hurts. Too much thinking after a fight. Not my forte. I just want to de-stress with a bit of torture in the dungeons and a good cup of joe afterwards. That's fair. I haven't even been home a day and we have had to deal with sluts, me accidentally hurting our mate, fighting rogues, and now Edon's prying questions. I'll say it again.... What is with these two lately? Edon sighed and placed his hands behind his head. "Right...the mate bond....the whole choose a spirit thing?" Edon added.

I cut my eyes in his direction. "It's not just a 'thing, Edon. Whoever marks her first will decide the spirit she is saddled with for eternity. That's a big decision. One that cannot be decided lightly." I reminded him, deterring him from the research I was doing on our mate or the lack thereof. I'm glad he is leaning toward the bait.

The worst part of my digging was her mother. There is literally nothing on her. Cassandra Pierce, Ayame's mother, doesn't exist.

"I know...we can talk to her about it tomorrow. I think we should just enjoy the time we have with her now." Edon said, nodding towards her small frame hidden behind Vil's torso while her feet were peeking out of the other side. "You aren't going to hide what you found out for long either, Conri." He warned, and I knew he was right.

No matter how annoying they have become, they deserved answers and...so did Ayame.

-POV Ayame-

Once we made it back to the house, Edon kissed my forehead gently and I blushed while Vilkas put me down on the couch. "We will be back shortly. Are you sure you are...okay?" Vil mumbled as his eyes darted away from mine.

I furrowed my brow, trying to figure out what I should be so concerned about. Then I remembered. I winced replaying the scene of their fight in my mind while I stood there, defenseless, and terrified of their safety. All three of them, titans in their own right, as the color glowed from their eyes. I knew who they were the minute I saw their animal forms. I wanted to do something, but I realized at the same moment that no matter how much I assimilate into their culture, life, habits.... I'm still human. "Maybe one of us should stay back." Edon said worriedly, and I snapped out of my dazed stupor.

"No!" I shouted, making them worry even more. "I mean, yeah, of course I'm fine. D-don't worry about me." I said, pushing another smile on my face. I was okay on our way back to the pack house, but the minute I lost contact with Vil, I felt a weight in my stomach drop. "Well, maybe if -" Vil started, but the door slammed open before he could finish his idea. "Ayame!" Emily shouted, skidding into the room with a really pissed off Kyle right on her heels.

"Emily! You need to stay in the fuckin' hospital! Why are you so stubborn?!" He shouted irritably.

It only took one look at her to know he wasn't in the wrong here. My face paled when I saw the bandages wrapped around her shoulder and left arm. "What... what happened to you?! Are you okay?" I whimpered.

Conri glanced at me and I felt like he was just as worried as Edon and Vil. Sometimes I cannot really confirm it, but his pursed lips and tightened jaw made me wonder. "Come on Emily, really?!" Vil growled. She froze in her tracks and bowed her head. "Sorry Alphas." She mumbled.

I huffed and got to my feet, pushing past them. I'm not going to let them reprimand her for the accidental shock I felt when she showed up with wounds on her body, worried about me! I just saw her in an adorable dress and curls cascading down her back, now she looks like she went through war and won with the scars to prove it. My shock is not her problem. Kyle pulled her into his chest and she still faced me. I could tell she was annoyed that she got caught, but loving every second of it. "Emily?" I questioned, looking at her wounds.

She threw her uninjured hand in the air. "Don't worry about it. They will heal in a day, trust me. Wolves heal...fast." She said, rolling her eyes. "These guys are just overdramatic." She added, pointing to her mate.

I blinked and took a good look at the damage. "Wait....seriously?" I asked in shock.

"Yeah.... That's real too." She said, mocking my earlier statement about mates.

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever." I added.

She giggled and patted my shoulder. "Oh, you're adorable, but seriously, I need to talk to you."

I furrowed my brow when her smile became nothing but a serious mask. "What's wrong?" Aside from the obvious.

"One of those assholes said something about Pierce. Isn't your surname Pierce?" She asked.

I froze and the room seemed to turn into a clouded tunnel at this point. The noises muffled and the room started to spin. I felt like I did back when I first got here. When anyone said anything that sounded like Richard or something that his hands may have been apart of. I know there is no way he was involved with them, but it still terrified me.

I felt warmth behind me, but I was too numb to care. Did...did everyone have to fight because of me? "What do you mean they were talking about Pierce?" Conri said, I think. Pierce...why would they know about me? Maybe it was another Pierce. It's a very common last name.

The rest of the conversation continued in a blur of muffled voices while I tried to force myself to think it wasn't about me. It can't be about me. There is no way.... The worst part is, if this attack wasn't related to Richard, then, that means I now have two enemies to contend with?! I... I'm going to lose my mind. I'm just one girl. One human girl. I can't heal fast like Emily. I...I'd be crushed if I have to go back there. I...I'm safe and I don't want anyone to change that. I....I'm so scared.

At some point, the warmth was gone and replaced with the soft cushion I knew was the couch. I couldn't really register anything else after that, but I heard something along the lines of, "Take care of her." And "We are not going to just let this go."

"Ayame...?" I blinked slowly and Edon's face came into view. I reached out my hands and he already knew what to do. I was snuggled into his chest faster than I thought possible and I was thankful for it. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you have any uncomfortable memories, Luna." Emily whimpered.

I shook my head slowly when his yummy scent calmed my mind. "No, they...they could be talking about a million other Pierces. It is a really common name...right?" I muttered my thoughts aloud. She shrugged. "I don't know, Luna, but I'm here for you."

I felt a subtle rumble from underneath me and I knew that was Edon's warning. Emily snickered and took in a breath. "I mean, Alpha is here for you." She added.

"At this point...I'll take whatever I can get." I whimpered.
