The Unwanted Luna -
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 29
-POV Edon-
The Auditorium, where supernatural come to die. It was built over a hundred years ago by my grandfather and they have gone above and beyond to make sure it is impenetrable. The reason for such a cage of such magnitude is simple. Not all supernatural are a like in creed and in strength. Many are not easy to crack, but one look at the solid silver walls, wolfsbane laced chains and silver slab in the middle of the room for the guest's comfort usually gets something out of them. No questions asked. However....
Five hours...it's been five hours of this. The mangled bag of bones in front of me is pissing me off more than he did when he stared down my Ayame. "Answer me!" Vil shouted while the white-hot prong singed the man's skin again, pressing him further into the silver cooking his back slowly and painfully. One of earth minerals that doesn't sit well with any shifter supernatural, but it is particularly uncomfortable for wolves.
His screams finally leaked from his lips and I felt a grin form on mine. He finally cracked. "Okay! Okay!" He shouted through his broken jaw.
"Who sent you!" I shouted, charging up to him and clasping my hand around his neck.
He gasped and nodded, barely able to move. "P...P...." He continued to gasp and I let my hand fall as he pulled in an exasperated breath. "Prince Chaz." He gasped and I slammed my hand into his abdomen.
He coughed up blood and I didn't care to dodge it. "You're lying!" I shouted.
"Edon." Conri said coolly. The only one of the six of us who has been able to keep calm this whole time. He walked up to me and rested a hand on my shoulder. Then, without a thought, a small blade landed on the man's shoulder.
Screaming...more screaming. "I'm not lying, please, please, I beg you!" He screamed. Conri didn't flinch when another blade made it through the man's other shoulder. "Please." He shouted again.
Conri nodded his head towards me and I slowly backed up while Vilkas continued to pace. Vincent and Charlie were staring at the three of us in shock and Kyle was just chuckling. "It's been a long time since I've seen this." Kyle muttered. Charlie scoffed. "Yeah." He added out of breath.
"Prince Chaz. It was Prince Chaz. He wanted to give your new Luna a...warm welcome." The prisoner said through gasping breaths. "And what might that welcome be?" Conri asked, again with a chilly undertone, while he let a third blade twist around in his hand. "Death to the Luna." The prisoner growled and Conri's eyes flashed while he shot the blade into the man's throat, killing him instantly. "No good deed goes unpunished." He said before leaving the now opened room.
When we walked past the reaper, he already had towels for us. We wiped our faces and hands the best we could, but a shower was required at this point. "Clean that up, reaper." Charlie commanded.
"Yes sir." He said with a paled expression.
Vil glanced at the reaper, scrambling to meet the demand. "New?"
Charlie nodded. "It's about that time. The old are retiring for the year."
I nodded. "I guess that makes sense." I muttered.
On our way up this time we weren't stopped and we made it to the top of the dungeons quite quickly. We each took our turn in the showers and quickly washed off the blood. Not something I wanted on me when we made it to the pack house. Once it was my turn to come out, I was tossed some sweatpants and pulled them on. We can get a shirt when we get back. "We will discuss our plan of action on our way back." Conri said.
"I say we just slit his throat instead." Vil grumbled as the cool air welcomed us while we stepped onto the dirt road.
"I agree." I added. Chaz is a sniveling pain in the ass. There is nothing that we can 'talk out' that will make me think otherwise. Just thinking about that idiot gives me a headache.
"Well, Edon, you're their ambassador for the Eastern kingdom." Oh, Conri thinks that'll change my mind?
"That doesn't mean I give two shits." I spat back. "Even his father is intolerable. They are both a waste of energy and it's no wonder werebears are so rare with those idiots ruling over them." I shot back.
At this point, we had already made it halfway to the house and I wasn't in the mood to compromise with him. "Edon has a point." Charlie said, chiming in.
"A point about what? We can't just kill royalty because they are idiotic. That's not how it works." Conri noted.
"That's how it should work." I said. "In my eyes, a stupid enemy is worse than a cunning one. He has no idea what he's doing as prince and to see that man ascend the throne will put his entire race into chaos."
"And then what? Another idiot will just take their place. Deal with what we know first before making any rash decisions." Conri warned.
"This is annoying. I miss the good old days where war was called the minute one side drew blood. That was the fun part." Charlie added with a chuckle.
"What good old days? We were five when our parents changed that rule." Vil said with a grin himself.
"Don't get bogged down with the details and let's be clear, I am older than you." Charlie added.
By the time we made it back to the pack house we were laughing. I'm not too sure how, but it was a relief to just hang out with everyone. Even if it was only for an hour or so, we now know at least one of our threats and Conri is working on the other one. We might not have a last name, but I have a feeling that Richard guy won't be that hard to replace once we know what to look for.
I pushed open the double doors and was approached by my sister. Oh for goddess sake. All the joy from the moment was sucked away almost immediately. She went to slap Conri in the face and she was gripped by the wrist and thrown to the floor faster than she could think. "I challenge you! Now. If I win, you let Adolpha go and apologize for embarrassing her like that!" My sister shrieked as she flicked her enraged face back at us.
This is one of those times where I wished wolves weren't nocturnal creatures. "Malerie is going to fight Conri?!"
"That girl has a death wish."
"Whatever, she's a bitch anyways."
The mutters started to swirl and it wasn't like Conri could reject her. Again, we have rules for a reason. He folded his arms and leaned back on his heels. "What if I win?" He asked calmly.
Malerie snarled. "I won't let you." She spat back. She was of alpha blood, so her cocky attitude was instinctual. Admirable, but stupid.
I saw Charlie wince and I felt for the guy. I really wish he had mated with someone else. The minute she knew he was her mate, she rejected him outright and those two have been at each other's throats ever since. I hope he will get another chance. Malerie, however, doesn't deserve another mate or our respect after that move. Charlie is like a brother to us. She destroyed him that day. Maybe that's why she didn't like Ayame so quickly. I'm sure she thinks she isn't good enough for us.
"Ten minutes." Conri concluded and walked out to the training fields. I glanced up the stairs and hesitated. All three Alphas must be present for a challenge to be permissible, but it was already one a.m.. I can't just pretend I don't want to be with Ayame right now. Malerie got to her feet and scoffed. "Your whore can wait."
I froze and turned to stare at that girl. Sometimes I honestly wonder how we are even related. "I hope Conri knocks your ass down a few pegs. I cannot wait to watch." I growled before heading out towards the training grounds while her jaw hit the floor. -POV Charlie-
Troubled would be putting it lightly. I'm not sure if she is begging for attention from them or what, but what she just did was foolish. "Talk to her." My wolf begged. I don't know why. We already, mutually, accepted her rejection. There isn't anything to talk about. However, I found myself moving up to her anyway. "What are you thinking?" I whispered harshly.
She looked up at me in shock. "Oh! You care?!" She said sarcastically.
I rolled my eyes. "I care about what will happen when your parents get back and you are also locked in the dungeons or worse. You can't just fight an Alpha, Malerie. You are barely even at the training grounds half the time." I shot back.
I reached out without thinking and she slapped my arm away. "I don't need your pity. I may not look like it, but I'm still the Alpha's daughter! I can hold my own and I don't need a weak wolf like you to tell me otherwise." She growled before storming off.
I froze where I stood, wondering if I should be happy that she will be getting her ass handed to her. Conri has been holding his cool all afternoon. With the rogue attack earlier, I don't think his patience is going to hold out much longer. "She's allowed dude. She can do whatever she wants and you are not responsible for her actions." Vincent said, communicating what I needed to hear.
I sighed. "I know. I'm just worried. I can't help what I feel."
"I wish you could replace another mate. It was really cruel for the Moon Goddess to pair you up with that mess of a Lycan." Vincent shivered at the thought.
"Either way, Lycan, wolf, dragon, whatever, she is going down." Kyle added and I winced.
Like I said, I can't help it.
The three of us walked out to the training grounds and Malerie was already in the ring with Conri. "Be warned, the winner of this round will have their demands met!" Edon shouted in the middle of the ring.
Conri shoved his hands in his pockets and moved to the middle of the ring. "Are we all clear on the rules?" Edon asked the two of them and Conri nodded while Malerie looked ready to kill.
"Wow, she is really going to do this?" Someone muttered behind me.
I growled lowly and Kyle elbowed my arm. "Stay calm dude. If she doesn't want you, she doesn't deserve your protection." He warned.
I pursed my lips and focused on the famous mask I placed over my face everytime I had to look at her. After six years, you would think this would be easy, but it isn't. It's still painful. "Fight!" Edon shouted, and the games began.
