Chapter 102

Zane POV

When I heard dad had been healed, it took all I had in me, not to whoop out loud and thank my mate in an inappropriate way. Right there in the meeting, I looked at dad with so much love and relief, I was dreading the idea of having to be king, not while we had all these traitors around.

My wolf would have been happy to do just what had crossed my mind, he wanted to be with his mate all the time, the horny beast. He gives me randy thoughts at the most inappropriate times and I have to hide the sudden unwanted e******n.

‘Dad, you were so sick when mum fell ill, how come I did not know Madison was hurt? I know I felt antsy, but I did not know she was being physically hurt?’ Dad looked just as perplexed as I did.

Dad looked over at Madison and she just shrugged her shoulders.

‘I don’t know, son.’ he answered honestly.

‘Alpha, the healing gift, can it be from the wolf and not from me? and Betsy blocked the pain with her gift, so he would not suffer?’ Madison suggested, her face lost in thought and not looking at anyone, just staring at the wall.

Dad looked contemplatively, then shrugged. We could not know for sure and, though it is a wonderful gift, we had more pressing things to worry about, so we let that drop. I doubt we will replace answers to that today.

The meeting was full of shocks, like when I heard Sebastian’s name, I wanted to hit something, that guy at school was the worst person for everyone at school, even the teachers did not like him in their classroom. He was always disruptive. He would cause problems all the time, as the school was full of mixed packs. Dad made sure we knew we had to behave, too many future Alpha’s and Beta’s at school, and so many willing girls hanging around them. I was not immune to all the attention, I just never acted on it.

To know he was a sort of cousin made me sick. I did not like the thought we might be related. The only good part was we were not b***d related, only related by marriage. Grandma never seemed to be nasty in any way, and I don’t remember her even talking about her other son, so I was shocked to hear about Clarence.

‘We know retribution or any kind of revengeful thoughts can stay a lifetime. Clarence may have brought up his son to hate us so much, that he thinks it is his right to have the crown. Neither are of royal b***d. I doubt any Elder would accept them, even if they did manage to take over from us.’ Dad addressed the group and I had to agree with him, Sabastian was a man full of hate and vengeance.

‘Mitch and Ryan, I will leave the warrior teaming, training and patrol routine to you both. You know where we want the ones that have to prove their loyalty sent. Gerome, can you continue with the monitoring in our hidden places and maybe set up a few more cameras in the hallways of the barracks. You can put all the outside ones in our general monitoring room. That will give you more space in the inner room. Madison, will you keep trying to hack into computers? Could you see if you can get into Clarence or Sebastian’s; Zane, Jonathon and Daniel. With me, we will clean out the dungeons and those we have some doubts about. We can move to the other cells, and have the dungeons empty and, hopefully, we can lock them down.’

We all murmured our agreement on dad’s orders and stood up to leave the room.

‘Madison, will you wait a moment please.’ Dad asked, looking over. He was looking at something in the hologram.

I leaned over to give Madison a soft k**s and leave the room, though I would love to know what dad was thinking, I needed to get closure in the dungeons. If I could give one or two a punch of two, I could get rid of this anger I have inside after hearing Sebastian’s name again.

Jonathon, Alpha Daniel and I walked down the hallway, Jonathon and Daniel talking about Madison’s ability to heal the wolf. It was exciting to see how that develops and if there is more to the gift than what we have discovered so far.

‘Do you think it was Madison, that we are both still here, and both survived the loss of our mates?’ Jonathon asked Alpha Daniel.

‘She would have had to have her wolf? Do you think her wolf could manifest in her? She was very young.’

‘It is not unusual to get your wolf that young under extreme circumstances or of higher ranking, like an Alpha son, with Madison being the future queen, it is not impossible.’ Alpha Daniel concluded and it made me think about the young Madison and her difficult years when she was so very young, and her need to help her dad and Alpha, and get revenge, that was a lot for a small child to take in. She has come through that trauma and is the best female warrior and tracker I know; I am so proud of how well she has beaten the odds.
