The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 103
Madison POV
I take my time closing the app of the hologram, while waiting for Alpha to say something. He was pacing back and forth, as he waited for the others to leave, and then stopped before me once the door closed.
‘Madison, do not share with anyone what you replace. On Clarence’s computer, not even Zane, I feel this is personal and depending on what you replace, as to what I will share with the others, I also want you to try and replace out more about Sebastian. I know Zane does not like him, but I feel he may be just being manipulated by Clarence and I would like a chance to talk to him in private before I make that call. Also, I would like you to look into Mitch’s computer. It is a long shot, though he has not done anything suspicious, his reaction to your replaceings did not surprise him. I need to know if he has suspected him all along, or something nefarious. For goddess’s sake, I hope he was just suspicious, but he never said anything, and I replace that strange.’ Alpha was trying hard to keep control of his growing rage, and, with the growing number of traitors around, had made us all suspicious of everyone.
‘I will only report to you.’ I promised.
I was concerned for Alpha, for him to think Mitch could be against him, must be tearing him apart inside, he has been his loyal head warrior for many years, and to have been plotting against him all this time, would break Alpha’s heart. Let us hope Mitch was not involved in any way.
Instead of using the monitoring room as I had in the past, I go to my bedroom and sit out on the balcony, to enjoy the coolness of the outside. There was still snow on the ground, and it was cold, but with no wind. It was kind of pleasant. I was rugged up nice and warm and sat at the table.
The first computer I attempted to hack into was Clarence. It was easier than I had expected, his firewall was almost non-existent, the wealth of information flowing from his computer was terrifying, he had organised so many raids over the years, and the stupid man had kept records of every single raid he was involved in, including the killing of my mum and Luna. Alpha is going to need to see this.
I mind-linked Alpha to come to my room. He was about to go to the dungeons and see how things were going down there, when I called him.
He entered my room and closed the door, and I went into the bedroom and we sat at the table in the corner, and I showed him the most recent emails and then the spreadsheet.
The i***t kept up to date with his exploits.
Alpha grunted every now and then as he scrolled through the information, going deeper into it than I had, as I had stopped investigating when I called Alpha to come and see what I had found.
‘This is great information, we have everything we need right here, and it seems we do have identified all the perpetrators now.’
‘Alpha, there is nothing implicating Mitch in either Clarence or Sebastian’s computer, I think he just had a gut feeling, he has been with you far too long to not have slipped up somewhere.’ I consoled him.
‘I agree, he has been loyal, and I feel bad for thinking he wasn’t, this stays between us. Okay, I don’t want him to feel hurt by my trust issues of late.’ Alpha was so very very adamant not to say a word.
‘I am sure he would understand, Alpha, it is not my story to tell. If you feel the need not to mention it, that is your right. I will not share your story.’ I promised with all my heart, even Zane wouldn’t hear it from me.
We were going through the last of the information, when Zane entered the bedroom, looking bloody and tired.
I glanced at the clock on the computer and realised it was already past dinner time. We had been in this room for over six hours going over the computers and collecting the evidence against Clarence and Sebastian.
‘Go wash up sweetheart and I will wait for you; we can go eat together.’ I suggested, when he stopped to stare at Alpha and me at the table, both busy with stuff on the computer. I had opened my laptop and was updating my hologram spreadsheets with the new information and a few other little bits.
Zane nodded and proceeded to the bathroom. He looked exhausted and wouldn’t be surprised if he asked for a tray to be brought up.
Alpha finishes reading the last email, having been on the same one for some time, before leaning back and rubbing his eyes.
‘We have a lot to clean up, at least four packs to replace new Alpha’s for and to remove two others, so six packs in all to investigate, and clean. I will have to look closely at the unmated males that will come in a few days’ time and see if any are candidates for the position. Surely there are other Alpha second or third sons out there we can recruit or maybe some potential Beta’s that have Alpha b***d running through their veins. Can you go through the list of attendees and see if you can make a list of Beta’s that have Alpha b***d lines and Alpha sons. I am sure we can replace enough to cover what we need, we have Graham and Peter to take over the Dark River pack when we remove the Alpha, and I think Jonathon and Daniels’ suggestions are good too. At first, I thought we had too many candidates. Now I think we may have just enough, but I need to see them before making any real choice. That is why I need the list. We have to be careful, we don’t want to put a bully in charge of these people, the pack members have gone through enough already. I know we were thinking of sending Graham elsewhere, but it would feel better having someone I know there, and Graham is the best candidate.’
I was getting confused about who was going where. Alpha kept changing his mind about who to send so often. His doubts and trust issues are against him at the moment, normally he would have had no trouble making those decisions in the past.
