The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 107
Madison POV
In the shed, I commenced by grabbing the darts I had prepared and dipped the dart heads into the sleeping mixture. I had a lot already prepared, and only needed to do about twenty more.
Zane mind-linked me to bring along the wolfbane serum, and I thought that was a great idea. Luckily, I have done a lot of that too.
Grabbing my completed darts and serum, I headed back to the office.
Hopefully, I will get to come back out here and make some more darts. I have plenty of mixture, but after this lot, no darts left.
In the office, dad, Alpha Daniel, Mitch, Ryan, Alpha Ezekiel and Zane all took the serum to combat wolfbane.
‘Okay, let’s get this started, Madison, I want you away from the fighting please.’ Alpha ordered.
‘Sure, I need to make more darts, so if you need me, I will be in the shed, I will lock the door from the inside. Mind-link me if you need me.’ I was pleased to be away from it all, and I had so much to do, and I had such a short time to do it, sleep seemed to be something far away, being dead on my feet seemed to be the norm for me at the moment, and I was using my wolf’s energy most of the time now.
I headed back to the shed and bolted the door.
The process of making the darts is not hard, just fiddly and time-consuming.
I put my head down and commenced my work.
After an hour of making the darts, I then dipped the darts in the mixture and placed them into a box, carefully, making sure the pointy end was down and away from my hands.
I made up some more potions for wolfbane. It will take a few hours to cook on low heat, and I thought I might need more at a later date, and you can never have too many preventatives.
Then back to the making of darts.
I have no idea how long I had been making these, but I heard the rattle of the shed door, and I looked over to the door and waited.
The door rattled again, and I snuck over to the door and sniffed around, trying to see if I could smell who it was through the smells in the shed.
‘Zane, did you send anyone over to the shed?’ I mind-linked Zane.
‘No, why?’ he sounded confused.
‘Jackson was at the door trying to open it.’ I was pleased my snout was good even with all those smells in the shed.
‘The Northern Pack, Jackson?’ Zane asked, surprised.
‘Yes, I thought the Northern Pack was cleared of wrong doing?’ Just as surprised as Zane.
‘Will asked dad, what he wants me to do about him.’ He closed the link and the door rattled again.
I continued with my dart making, and ignored the door.
My work was quiet, so that people wouldn’t know I was there, just in case there were more than Jackson and I could only smell him. Maybe the smell in the shed was too strong for me to pick up others who might be just beyond him.
I wondered what he wanted from the shed.
About five minutes later, I heard an ‘oomph’ and assumed Jackson was being taken care of.
‘Madison, can you come out please?’ Zane called from outside the shed.
Opening the door, I saw Jackson out cold on the floor.
‘It appears he was trying to jimmy the door open, not knowing you were inside. I will put him in the cells. Dad said to be on the safe side. We are going to put all the Northern Pack back into the cells. There are not many of them, so it will be easy enough.’
Zane gave me a quick k**s, then bent down and picked up Jackson and threw him over his shoulder, making it look effortless.
‘Zane, I will lock the shed back up and head to the monitoring room. I can’t do much more until I get some more wood for the darts.’
I follow Zane down the pathway, he splits off to go to the cells and I head into the kitchens. I grabbed some cake on my way through to the monitoring room.
‘Hi Gerome.’ I sing as I hand over a plate of cakes to him, which he happily takes from me and bites into the apple one.
‘Hey Madison, can you monitor those cameras over there, the ones you set up along the driveway to the palace doors. I think that was a great idea, by the way. I would never have thought of putting cameras in to see who was coming and going. I think when this is over, we can move these monitors to the main room and let it be part of the security team to have turns at monitoring these cameras.’ Gerome suggested, and it makes me feel so good, that my ideas go beyond our little emergency.
‘I agree, it would be great, since you are part of the security, though I don’t want them to have access to the program, we don’t want them deleting footage.’ I suggested.
‘I agree, it would be great, since you are part of the security, though I don’t want them to have access to the program, we don’t want them deleting footage.’ I suggested.
‘Oh, no, we can’t have them doing that sort of thing. How about we make a second recording? What do you think? We can set up a second server just for keeping these recordings, as a backup.’ Gerome said excitedly, as more ideas floated across his mind, you could see he was getting into the whole security theme.
‘I think that is an excellent idea, if nothing else, we have learnt that we are not immune to power-hungry people, and those who want to be king or queen over everyone.’
‘When this is over, we can talk to Alpha Ezekiel about some changes in security. Maybe we can have groups. One week they will be in the monitor room, and the following week they are out doing perimeter patrols.’
‘Oh look, the first guests are arriving. Have any idea who they are?’ I pointed to the screen and watched the arrivals.
‘Looks like Clarence and Sebastion are our first arrivals’. Gerome sounded pleased it was them so early.
Gerome and I watched as the car arrived outside the palace. Alpha Daniel, dad and Mitch and Alpha Ezekiel, all met them as they climbed out of their car.
It was made to look so easy.
Dad put out his hand to shake Sebastian at the same time as Alpha Ezekiel put out his to Clarence, and the moment their hands touched, both Sebastian and Clarence hit the floor unconscious.
Dad and Ezekiel both had a dart in their hands and put the two of them asleep.
They will take them both to the cells and we will wait for the rest of the traitors to arrive.
Now we have leaders in hand.
I hope that is the last of it, and we have no more traitors hiding out there.
