The Wannabe Warrior
Chapter 175

Zane POV

Just as I was about to mind-link my mate.

I smelt her.

At the same time,

Some of the warriors shouted together.

“watch out”.

Betsy came bounding over a bush to my right and just as she leapt up at me, she shifted and I caught a very happy and very naked Madison in my arms and she started covering me with k****s. I lifted her legs up and around my waist and she was going nowhere until she had had her fill of me, and I was okay with that, needing her just as much as she needed me.

A Blue River Warrior took off his coat and placed his coat over Madison’s naked body and started to guide us away from the area and back to the cave.

I carried Madison stuck to my body, her snuggling into me and taking in my scent, and it was the best feeling in the world.

I had my mate back and I loved holding her, breathing in her scent, all the while the hand of one of the Blue River warriors was on my lower back guiding me in the direction he wanted me to go, and I trusted him completely not to lead me astray.

We arrived back sooner than the Deep Earth Alpha had expected and with Madison clinging like a hungry baby to my chest, the men in the cave were staring at Madison as she nestled closer to me, if that was even possible, her head snuggled under my chin, taking in my scent, deep breaths, as if she was thirsty for my aroma.

Once we were inside, and I had stopped walking, she untangled herself from my body, and began greeting Alex and Zakary and the Blue River warriors and some of the other warriors she had come to know in the short time she had known Alex and Zakary.

Not the least bit worried, she was wearing only a jacket which came to her knees, the Blue River warrior was a large man.

Everyone seemed happy and relieved to have Madison back safely with no death or injury to any of us.

‘Madison, this is Zeek, the Alpha of this pack of the Deep Earth people.’ I introduced Zeek and she greeted him with the traditional handshake body slap, which shocked Zeek, but he did return the greeting, though he seemed to be staring at her in awe.

I was not sure what that was about.

‘These are the Deep Earth warriors that Zakary had brought with him, and those are Alex’s, though I think you already know some of them and these ones are from Zeek’s pack.’ I said as I tried to let her know we were all in it together.

When she reached two men from Zeek’s pack she let out a very loud low growl and punched one of them in the face hard, and then the other one, making them land on their butts on the floor, looking back up at her in shock.

‘Madison, what is it?’ a surprised Alex asked, knowing this was not her normal self, and such a strong reaction meant nothing good was going to come from that.

‘These two men smell of Gladys. Why would two of your men smell of her Zeek?’ she asked him, not taking her eyes from the men on the floor, she was standing in her fighting stance ready for action.

‘Tye, Ryker, explain.’ Zeek alpha ordered, at the two men sitting on the floor both with b***d pouring out of their noses.

They scrambled to their feet and bowed their heads in submission and, with Zeek using his alpha command, they had no choice but to answer.

‘Gladys caught us a few weeks ago, said she would let us go if we help her capture Zane.’ One replied, getting a dig in the ribs from the other one.

‘How do you communicate?’ Zeek asked, red-faced with anger.

Madison stepped forward and grabbed one of the man’s arms, and pulled up the sleeve.

He had a marking on his wrist.

‘You are a guest of her pack now?’ Madison asked incredulously, knowing that Gladys could mind-link them at any time.

Zeek stepped forward and took his arm and looked at his wrist and then the other man both had the same markings.

‘Did you tell them I have escaped?’ Madison asked, in her war officer tone she gets when she is thinking hard.

‘No, it does not work like that, only she can contact us when she wants information.’ One answered again, and the other one still kept quiet, and I could see Madison not liking this one at all, she had that look on her face that said something bad was about to happen.

‘Did they know we were going to attempt to rescue Madison?’ I asked them, shocked at this revelation.

‘Yes.’ The same one answered and I growled out softly, in my annoyance at this bit of news, I was walking with a traitor, when will this stop happening?

‘Did you tell them it would be tonight?’ I asked, now trying not to lose control. My anger was quick to rise, since this was about my mate.

‘Yes.’ The same one talked, the other one’s face had paled with each answer the other gave, knowing this was not going to be good. If they lived through this, I am sure Gladys would finish them off.

‘You have risked your fellow warriors for what? Your own lives?’ Zeel turned and, with speed too fast for us to stop him, he snapped both their necks and they fell to the flood in a crumpled heap.

‘That explains why so many men were hiding. I thought it looked like an ambush of some kind.’ Madison said casually in a whisper, but we could all hear her, in the quiet that followed the death of these two men.

‘Zeek, do you think they told Gladys where the cave entries are?’ Alex asked as he kicked one of the men dead on the floor.

‘We will have to close off the entries for now. No one out, no one in, any of the entries on this side of the mountain.’ he barked out the order, but it did not feel right. I looked at Madison and decided to worry about that later. I needed to get my mate some proper clothes.

Some warriors arrived and took the two bodies away, to where I did not know or care. If Madison had not escaped and reached us like she had, we could all be dead now or worse, stuck in her cells, and Gladys replaceing ways to make us all suffer great pain.
