The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 42
Madison POV
With Zane and the Alpha asleep, or I hope they are asleep, I head to Gerome’s office to see if he sleeps too.
Lucky for me, he is awake and we can look at hacking some computer that he talked about in one of the meetings.
‘Hey Gerome, which computer do you want me to hack, or has all that finished, now that the Northern Pack warriors have joined the Dark River Pack in the cells?’
‘Can you hack into the advisor’s computer?’
‘Do you have any emails from him, so I can track back from them?’
‘Look at Alpha’s computer. If he sent anyone an email, it would be him.’
I looked at Alpha’s email account and found a few emails from the advisor, and started looking for a break in the firewall, and sent a few viruses in to see what would happen. Several hours later, I stopped for a coffee and a sandwich that Gerome brought in from the kitchen. I had made a looping code, and was waiting for the code to replace a way in. This coding had worked in the past, and I had hopes it would work again.
I checked each email that Alpha had received, to see if it was from the same computer each time, or if the advisor had an internet address blocker or used a program that can show you are from different countries or internet addresses. There are many companies out there that sell programs to do just that. Either the advisor is not technology smart or he had confidence we would not check, but each email was from the same computer and internet address.
He did not even use his phone to send an email.
Slowly we found a way in, more luck than skill, as my looping did not work or the program I had pinned my hopes on. Actually, I cannot actually say why I suddenly got in and that made me suspicious. I hacked into the advisor’s computer using a computer no longer being active, and put different countries’ internet addresses.
Hopefully, if the advisor is smart and puts a tracer on this hacking attempt, it will show I am from a number of different countries. Each internet address that was randomly looped was for internet cafes around the world.
I started to download the information from the computer and waited. When no viruses came, I continued with the hacking. I looked at the information on his computer and froze in place. If this information was correct, we would be in for a lot of pain very soon.
‘Gerome, come look at this. Tell me what I am looking at is real.’
Gerome rolled his chair over to my screen and gave out a loud whistle.
‘That, my girl, is real. Did you download it or get a copy?’
‘Yeah, it is now on this computer, I have stopped the hacking and closed it down, covering my tracks as I went. This had me a little worried, and I have no idea why I could suddenly get into his computer, it does not make sense.’
‘Well, maybe it was a combination of all your hacking, weakened something, or maybe your loop just took longer than you expected and continued after you thought you had stopped it. We need to show Alpha this, but we can’t wake Alpha up. Best wait, not that we can do anything about this right now. But at least we now have an idea of what we are up against, even if only a part of it is real, that is a lot of fire power on its way to us.’
‘Those poor Alpha’s, having the threat of losing their Luna like I did my mum, to keep them in line and compliant, this is unacceptable, we need to replace a way to let them know we understand, maybe get them to come here with their Luna and keep them safe, or something.’ I say as we take in all that is on this computer list of compliant Alpha’s.
‘Look here.’ Gerome points to another list.
I open it and it reveals a list of names that have been threatened.
‘Is that Luna’s sister?’ I asked, highlighting a name on the list.
‘Yes, that maybe why Luna has been so supportive of Karen. I think this will put the Alpha’s mind at ease as to why his mate is acting a little strangely.’ Answers Gerome.
‘Glad we have not included any other pack in our true replaceings. If I read this right, we have till midnight at the ball to get everything in place, and to somehow get those Luna’s safe or at least let the Alpha’s know we know and want them to assure us they wont have their warriors fight against us when the attack comes.’ I say, wondering how best to approach the other Alpha’s, I am sickened as I read more of the things the advisor has done, he is one sick puppy.’
‘Go through the computer, let’s see what else is hidden away and make a copy on a different computer of what you think is important for the Alpha to see. Don’t delete anything for now, keep even the stuff that looks innocent. We just don’t know how some of this can be related, and best not lose a thread, even the history of internet browsing and look at the cookies, see what he has been checking out lately.’ Gerome suggests.
My day just got longer, as I plod through the wealth of information on this computer.
The advisor did not clear out anything. I will bring back all the deleted stuff later, there is just too much information here to sieve through.
