Alissa's POV

I fluttered my eyes open as the sunlight hit my face.

I groaned as I covered my face with my hand.

"Ali, you need to wake up girl. It's a monday" Denisse reminded me.

I pouted sleepily before pushing myself to sit up.

I yawned and stretched my arms.

"The kids are already probably ready to go to school while you're still here sitting on your bed" she guilt tripped me.

I huffed and got out of my bed.

I headed straight to the bathroom and quickly showered before changing into a simple yellow blouse and a pair of jeans.

I dried my hair and put it into a ponytail.

Then, I put minimal makeup on so I don't look too plain.

"Let's go" Denisse said.

I nodded.

Denisse and I went out together.

"Do you think that the kids are already waiting for us?" I asked a little guilty that I didn't wake up earlier.

"Probably. You know how those pups are" she said.

I nodded in agreement.

The kids love going to kindergarten.

I clung onto Denisse's arm as we skipped our way to kindergarten.

I'm Alissa Ford, a 20 year old kindergarten teacher in Sol Pack.

Sol Pack is a small pack in a small town in the east consisting about 101 wolves only including myself.

It's a very secluded pack. Therefore, we're safe from rogue attacks unlike other bigger packs.

I've been living in Sol Pack for more than 2 years now.

I became a rogue even before I was 18 and left the territory I was in to start a new life and replace myself in the process.

I could still vividly remember that night that I left.

Flashback....

I looked at myself in the mirror as I held onto my bag tightly.

A tear fell from my eye but I quickly wiped it away.

I need to do this.

I made my way out of the cabin while cautiously looking around for anyone in the area.

Fortunately, no one was there.

Most of them were in the palace to celebrate the Prince's 18th birthday.

Everyone was invited to go but I chose not to.

I just told them that I felt sick so I couldn't come.

In reality, I had other plans.

I made my way through the woods.

I have stayed here for years since my mother met her second chance mate who is now my step father.

Since then, my life made a very drastic change.

At first, it was okay.

I was okay.

But as years passed by, I started to feel like I was missing something in my life.

Ever since, I thought of leaving.

I gathered up my courage until this night came.

After some time of walking in the woods, I ended up by a pond.

Then, I saw her.

I saw the Queen.

I froze on the spot as our eyes met.

"Your Highness" I muttered nervously.

She slightly raised her brow as she looked at me.

I tried to hide my bag behind me.

"Look at me" she said.

I gulped as I lifted my head up to look at her.

Her brows furrowed.

"Alissa" she muttered.

I bit my lower lip nervous.

"What are you doing here?" the Queen asked.

I gulped again.

"I...I was" I stuttered.

The Queen sighed.

"Don't lie to me, Alissa. I hate it when people lie to me, remember?" she said.

I bit my lower lip.

I contemplated on telling the truth or lying.

In the end, I chose to say the truth.

"I'm running away from home" I said honestly.

"May I ask why?" the Queen asked carefully.

I looked at her with teary eyes.

I saw how her expression softened.

"Come" she told me softly and she made her way to me.

She walked on the water elegantly.

She sat me down gently.

"What's wrong?" she asked me as she wrapped her arm around me to give me a hug.

I suddenly burst into tears.

"I just want to leave and start a new life" I said sobbing.

There was no point in lying.

The Queen sighed.

"Are you not happy here?" she asked.

I immediately shook my head.

"It's not that" I said wiping my tears.

"I just don't think that I can live my life as I want it to be here. I feel restricted all the time because of my parents. I'm sorry" I admitted and apologized.

The Queen shook her head as she wiped my tears.

"It's fine. You didn't say anything wrong" she assured me.

"But you haven't even turned 18 yet. Are you sure that this is what you want?" she asked me carefully.

I slowly nodded.

Then, she sighed again.

"Let me see your bag" she said.

I looked at her confused but still gave her my bag.

The Queen checked my bag.

"Wait for me here. Don't leave until I come back. If you leave, I'll hunt you down myself" she told me.

I gulped and nodded.

I felt nervous.

Was the Queen going to stop me?

Should I just run away without waiting for her to come back?

But she said she'll hunt me down if I do.

I felt anxious.

Minutes passed by but it felt like hours.

I wanted to leave.

I needed to leave.

Still, I patiently waited.

Until, the Queen finally came back.

She's had a bag with her.

I gave the Queen a confused look.

"You can't leave or survive with just that" she said and pointed to my bag.

The Queen grabbed my bag and put my bag inside the bigger bag that she brought.

"I put in more things for you inside this bag. I also put in cash there. It won't last you forever so you'll need to figure out something at some point" she told me.

I looked at her in shock.

"I know that you can handle yourself considering that you trained with the men all these years. I've seen you fight and you're more than capable of handling yourself. Still, I want to remind you to be cautious at all times. It's dangerous out there" she reminded me.

I wanted to cry so badly.

She understands me.

The Queen sighed.

"I understand what you want to do with your life. I get it. You want to be able to replace yourself. If this is what will help you, then I don't think I have a say in it. It's your life and not mine. But please be safe" she said.

I immediately hugged the Queen.

"Thank you" I sobbed.

The Queen caressed my back soothingly.

"My number is in the bag. I put in a separate money for you to buy a phone. I don't expect you to call me every day or update me with your whereabouts. I only ask that you let me know that you are safe and well" she told me softly.

I nodded.

"Axel will despise me but I know that he shouldn't stop you either. He'll get over it eventually. Just don't die. Please" she said.

I slightly chuckled and nodded.

"Be well. Come back if you want to. You're always welcome here" she told me.

I smiled and nodded again.

"Thank you...your highness...aunt Livi" I said.

The Queen smiled.

My heart felt warm.

Out of all the people in my life, she was the first to actually understand me.

"I'll wait for your update. Take care of yourself, Alissa" the Queen said.

I gave the Queen a smile before I turned my back from her and left.

I didn't dare to look back.

I was determined to leave.

To start a new life.

To replace myself.

No matter what it takes.

End of Flashback...

The months I spent being a rogue was rough but I found the freedom that I needed to grow as a person.

Then, I found the Sol Pack.

Or atleast, the Sol Pack found me.

They took me in as one of their own after I saved their Luna and the Alpha and Luna's child from other rogues.

It was a very unexpected event.

I was at the right place at the right time.

And because of that, I found the home where I felt like I actually belong.

I still keep in contact from aunt Livi aka the Queen of Werewolves.

I call her once every few months and text her atleast every month pr every other month about updates on my life.

She's the only person in my past life that I keep in contact with.

I trust aunt Livi more than anyone.

Who knew that out of all the people who could support me in my decision in life, it would be the Queen.

I smiled at the thought.

Aunt Livi is the absolute best.

Finally, we reached the school or should I say center for the children.

Denisse was right.

The pups were already waiting for us inside.

The pups greeted us cheerfully and we greeted them back with a smile on our face.

Denisse and I prepared the pups for class.

It was such a happy experience teaching.

I wouldn't exchange it for the world.

Just seeing the kids everyday gives me serotonin.

Denisse and I started the class.

I was the first one who started the lessons.

The pups listened actively and attentively.

They were all so cute.

One subject came after another as we thought the pups.

Denisse and I took turns in teaching and assisting the kids.

Hours passed by until it was finally lunch time.

We helped the pups to take out their lunches.

Once they were all set, we took out our own lunch that Denisse made.

The kids were chattering while they ate.

It was such a cute scene.

In fact, I found everything they did as something cute.

I couldn't help it.

I imagined myself replaceing my mate and building our own little family.

I'm not in any way in a rush.

Actually, I'm quite nervous to replace my mate because I didn't want to leave the Sol Pack.

I hoped and prayed to the moon goddess that he'd be someone open minded and agree to move to Sol instead.

That way, I won't have to leave and we can live happily ever after.

The bell on the door rang as someone came.

Denisse and I turned to look and saw Griffin.

Griffin is the head guard of the pack and a good friend of mine.

He's also Denisse's cousin.

"Hey, ladies" Griffin greeted with a wink.

I chuckled while Denisse gave him a disgusted look.

"Here" he said and placed a flower on my desk and on Denisse's.

"I picked it up on the way" Griffin said with a shrug.

I smiled.

"Thanks" I said.

Griffin smiled.

"Cringe" Dennise butt in.

Griffin frowned at her.

"Have you eaten?" I asked.

Griffin nodded.

"Yeah. I ate before I came here" he said.

I nodded.

"Did you come here because you needed something or?" I asked him.

"Nah. I just kind of passed by since it's my break" he said leaning on my desk.

"Yeah right" Denisse said with a smirk.

Griffin gave her a look.

I chuckled.

It won't be long till they start bickering again like always.

I finished up eating and helped the pups clean up.

Dennise and Griffin also helped us.

After that, we got prepared for the continuation of the class..

"I'll get going" Griffin said.

I nodded.

"Take care" I said.

Griffin nodded and smiled.

"I will" he said and gave me wink before leaving.

I chuckled.

"What a flirt. When will he stop hitting on you?" Denisse said in disbelief.

"He was not hitting on me" I denied.

Dennise looked at me with a raised brow.

"Yeah right" she said.

I just chuckled.

Then, we continued our class.

This is my life now.

It's simple but peaceful.

I don't belong in a big pack but I feel like everyone is family.

I'm happy and contented with the life that I'm living now.

Nothing will change that.
