Alissa's POV

"Ali!"

I turned around to look and saw Enzo running towards me.

I smiled as I opened my arms for him.

I caught Enzo in my arms and we spun around as he giggled.

"I missed you, Ali" Enzo said with a pout.

"But we saw each other yesterday" I said.

"Still, I missed you" he said.

I chuckled and smiled.

"I missed you too" I said and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Enzo looked at me lovingly.

I smiled as I remembered the first time that we met.

Flashback...

"Thank you" I said to the cashier as I put the things I bought in my bag and left.

I took out my phone from my pocket and dialed the only number there.

After a few rings, someone picked up.

I didn't speak first.

"Hello?"

I immediately recognized the voice and smiled.

"Hi, auntie Liv" I greeted.

"Hey, dear. It's nice to hear your voice again. How are you doing?"

"I'm good actually. I've been roaming the east side of Halo for a while" I told her. "That sounds lovely, dear. You are doing well, right? No problems whatsoever?" "Yes, auntie. I'm doing fine. I don't have many problems right now" I assured her. "That's good to know, dear. I feel relieved that you've finally called again" I smiled.

"Thank you for supporting me, auntie" I said.

"You're welcome, dear. Just be safe. That's all I ask of you"

I nodded although she couldn't see it.

"I will. It was really nice to hear your voice again, auntie" I said.

"It was nice to hear from you too"

I smiled again.

"I have to go, auntie" I said in a low tone.

"Of course"

I sighed.

"Be well"

"I'll try my best, auntie. Goodbye" I said.

"Till our next call"

Then, we ended the call.

I sighed as I looked up at the sky.

Auntie Liv is the only person who knows of my whereabouts.

We rarely talk on the phone or text because after I call her or send her a message, I shut off my phone.

Auntie Liv is a close friend of my stepfather.

She helped me the night that I left.

For that, I'll always be thankful of her.

She supports me in my life decision and doesn't make me feel like I'm in the wrong for wanting to grow as person.

I went further in the East to replace shelter.

I thought about going to motel to stay for the night since I've been sleeping outdoors for almost a week now.

As I was making my way to the direction of the motel, I sensed other rogues coming in my direction.

I rushed to hide myself.

I hid by the bushes and hugged myself protectively.

I hoped and prayed that they wouldn't sense me.

Despite knowing that my scent was masked, I was still anxious.

I focused on the rogues' scent and paid close attention to my surroundings.

Then, I sensed another wolf's scent.

This one didn't seem like a rogue and the scent was very faint.

Suddenly, I realized that it wasn't exactly that of a smell of an ordinary wolf.

A pup.

I smell a pup.

My heart raced inside of my chest.

Then, I heard a scream.

I jumped out from the bushes and ran to the direction of the rogues.

As I was running, I smelled a new scent.

Another she wolf.

I ran faster until I heard the growling.

I stopped and stood in a distance when I saw a group of rogues circling a woman as she held a little boy in her hands.

I gulped.

There were 4 male rogues and 2 helpless wolves.

Oh goddess, please help us.

I growled loudly to get the rogues attention.

Everyone looked at my direction.

The rogues growled aggressively at me.

My eyes glowed bright blue as I took my fighting stance.

"Leave them alone" I hissed at them.

The rogues focused their attention at me.

I can still see the fear in the woman and the child's eyes.

That only madr me want to protect them more.

3 of the 4 rogues went to me while the other stayed to guard the woman and the child.

The 3 rogues circled me as they growled and snapped at me.

As soon as one lunged at me, I dodged it and kicked it to the side making it fall and roll on the ground.

Then, the other 2 lunged at me on different sides in unison.

I jumped up and they hit each other.

The other one that I kicked earlier tried to jump at me again.

Instead of dodging, I grabbed it by the neck this time.

Rogues that try to harm the innocent do not deserve to roam around freely.

They are a danger to others and to themselves.

So, I snapped it's neck and it fell to the ground with its last whimper.

I watched as the remaining wolves eyes turned completely dark.

I just ended their friend's life.

Right now, they want to take mine more than ever.

The rogue that was guarding the woman and the child came to join the 2 other wolves.

They pounced at me altogether.

I dodged and jumped up as I shifted into my wolf.

I landed on top of one wolf and I quickly bit it's neck hard.

It whimpered in pain as it tried hard to shake me off.

I caught a glimpse of the woman and the child as they hid by the bushes.

The woman was hugging the little boy protectively and covering his eyes and ears while she watched me fight off the rogues.

Before the other 2 wolves attack me again, I bit harder and I beheaded the rogue in an instant.

I saw how the woman turned her head to look away at the savege act that I just committed.

The body of the headless wolf fell to the ground and I jumped off it.

The growling off the 2 remaining rogues became more and more aggressive with another dead member of their group.

I knew that we couldn't stop now.

I hoped it never started.

I hoped that they just went their way and didn't plan to harm anyone.

But I knew that this wasn't a first for them.

For all I know, they did this ever so often.

How do I know?

Because when I first smelled them, I also smelled the awful stench of blood in their body.

And it wasn't just from one person.

Not to mention that the stench smelled quite fresh.

I'm guessing that something happened somewhere else before they ended up here.

Something bad.

So I don't exactly think that this rogues are good ones.

One rogue pounced at me and I dodged and avoided it.

Then, the other lunged at me as well just right after the other.

I took a wrong move when I grabbed the other wolf.

I was clawed by my back and I winced a little.

I heard the gasp of the woman from the side.

I ignored the stinging pain and continued to fight.

I bit onto the stomach of one rogue and tore off its flesh.

It howled in pain as it fell to the ground while it bled to its death.

I faced the last rogue as I ignored the pain of the wound that I acquired.

I can't show any weakness now.

As soon as it lunged at me, I got down and rolled on my back to claw on its stomach.

It whimpered and fell on the ground rolling.

I quickly got on my feet and attacked it while it was down.

I bit into its neck and ripped its throat out.

For a moment, I stood there as I looked at its now lifeless body.

I've killed rogues before even before I became one.

I only always killed bad ones even before.

It was part of my training before but now it's all about survival.

I huffed and walked to the rogue that was struggling to stay alive.

Then, I went ahead and snapped it's neck to end its misery.

I watched as life left his body.

It was unfortunate but it needed to be done.

I'm not a savage.

I do not harm or kill any innocent beings.

As soon as it was all over I let myself fall on ky stomach as pain shot through my whole body.

I was bleeding a lot.

Then, I heard rustling and saw the woman and the little boy rush to my side.

"You're bleeding" the woman said.

"We need to get you treated" she said.

Then, she looked around helplessly.

I shifted back to my human form with the last ounce of energy left in my body.

The woman took off her coat and covered me with it.

"Help is coming" the woman suddenly said and I suddenly heard the rustling sounds and different scents of different wolves hit my nose.

"You need to stay conscious. You're losing a lot of blood" she said.

I weakly nodded.

I tried my best to stay awake.

The little boy only looked at me with a worried expression.

I gave him a small assuring smile.

"I'll b-be fine" I muttered.

Then, my vision blurred as I saw silhouettes of other wolves coming our way.

They're here.

Then, it became even harder to stay conscious.

So I let myself fall asleep.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw myself in the forest.

Then, I felt pain shot through my body from my shoulders.

I touched it and saw blood.

Oh no.

My knees weakened and I kneeled on the ground as I closed my eyes tight while suppressing the pain.

But suddenly, a familiar person burst put of the bushes.

She looked at me with a worried expression.

"Aunt Liv" I muttered.

Aunt Liv rushed towards me and held me.

"For the goddess' sake, Alissa. I told you to be careful" she scolded.

I slightly chuckled.

"I'm sorry" I apologized.

I should've been more careful.

Aunt Liv sighed.

"How careless" she said in disbelief and looked at my bleeding shoulder.

"I tried to help" I said.

"And now you're the one who needs it" she said.

I pursed my lips guilty.

"I won't die, won't I?" I said.

Aunt Liv chuckled.

"Not today" she said.

I smiled.

"Hold still. This will hurt a lot more than you think" she said.

Then, I felt Aunt Liv's hand on my wound.

I winced until I felt a foreign sensation.

I screamed in pain as I caught a glimpse of a blinding light.

Then, I jolt awake.

I panted as I looked around.

Where am I?

The door burst open and I saw a strange man.

I was about to freak out but the woman from earlier suddenly came.

She rushed towards with me.

"What happened? Are you okay?" she asked in a worried tone.

I gulped and nodded.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"You're in our pack territory. We had to get you treated after you were injured from saving us" she said.

I'm in someone else's territory.

"How are you feeling?" she asked softly.

"I'm fine, maam" I said politely.

The woman smiled at me.

"Thank you for saving my son and I. We owe you our lives" she said tearing up.

I gave her an assuring smile.

"Let me check your injury. You were badly wounded" she said.

I nodded.

The woman carefully checked the bandage on my shoulder.

The strange man only watched us.

Guessing from his scent and aura, he was the mate of the woman and the Alpha of this territory.

Suddenly, the woman gasped.

I looked at her curiously.

"Your wound. It's gone. How could it be?" she said in shock.

Auntie Liv...

The woman and the man both looked at me stunned.

They must think that I'm a weird one.

End of Flashback...

After that, they invited me to stay in Sol.

I agreed.

Since then, I became part of the pack.

That's how I ended up becoming part of the Sol pack and was considered a hero.
