The Werewolf King’s Runaway Queen -
Chapter 52
Alissa's POV
Time passed by so quickly.
It seemed like only yesterday, Luke and I were fighting whether I was in the wrong for accidentally getting stuck on the storage room with another wolf.
It also felt as if the other day, Luke and I were just in each other's clothes.
But now...now we are 3 days away from the wedding days and this is my first day preparing for the wedding ceremony and coronation.
I looked at myself in the mirror.
I wore a mocha brown zipper half placket tee and leggings set paired with white sneakers.
My hair was tied in a half up hair style and I put a little bit of tint on my face.
For day one, aunt Livi will be the one teaching and orienting me.
Liana will also be present while Luke will NOT be and thank the goddess for that.
Luke is extra busy before the wedding because he needs to arrange a few things regarding my official coronation and all.
On top of that, he had to accomplish tasks that he needs to do as the King.
Luke might or might not have fallen a bit behind because of the sudden situation we recently got ourselves into.
Not sure whether I should feel guilty or not but I guess I shouldn't really bother to think of that at the moment considering how I have other problems I should worry about like doing good in my royal training and all.
I've always been training for combat and if I ever had to become a warrior or a guard, I wouldn't have a single problem with it but I have never been taught to become an elegant and sophisticated being meant for the throne. If I'm being honest, I'm extremely terrified.
I've always been just a subject.
A member of the pack, a gold friend to a royalty and an average she wolf.
Never did I even imagine myself leading a pack.
Let alone a whole kingdom.
But 3 days from now, that's what's expected of me.
If that doesn't scare the living sht out of you, I don't know what will.
There was a knock on the door.
I walked over to open it and there stood Lia.
"Good morning, gorgeous" she greeted md enthusiastically and gave me a hug.
I smiled and hugged her back.
"Are you ready for today?" she asked looking me up and down.
I nodded and let her in for a moment since it's still pretty early to head down.
Lia and I sat down on my bed.
"Are you nervous?" she asked curiously.
I shook my head.
"No too much. It'll be you and your mom who will teach me anyway so I'm not really that anxious. Just a little bit because I don't want to look completely clueless" I said. Lia smiled.
"It's good to know that you're more than comfortable with mom and I" she said.
I smiled in agreement.
"Oh. Has Luke stopped by?" she asked.
"Uhm no. Why would he?" I asked back.
"To check up on you, silly" she said.
I chuckled.
"What's there to check up on? It's not that big of a deal. I think he knows just that" I said.
"Hmm. That's weird. He seemed pretty anxious when I saw him earlier. I assumed it was because your first day of royal training is today" she said. He was?
Why would he be?
"Whatever. Maybe he's too shy to let you know he feels the way he does" she said with a shrug.
We both chuckled.
Then, Lia looked me in the eye.
"Alissa" she said in a serious tone as I grabbed a bottle of water from my bedside and was about to take a sip of water.
"In 3 days, you will no longer be the pure and innocent girl you once were" she said grinning.
I raised a brow at her.
"What? What do you mean?" I asked confused.
"Because Luke will be claiming you" she teased.
I immediately spat the water out and Liana burst into a fit of laughter.
Oh my fcking ghad.
This girl.
"I swear to the goddess Liana, if you go that way, I will run out of here so fast" I said as I flushed red.
"What?" she said still laughing.
"It's literally tradition that you get marked the same night as the wedding and every wolf know what's about to go down during the marking session" she said.
I looked away.
Lia laughed again.
"I'm just teasing. It's just that I'm quite shocked that Luke was able to restrain himself for a whole month from marking you immediately specially knowing that he has competition around. If you know what I'm talking about" she said winking at me. I shook my head in disbelief and Lia chuckled.
"Wait. Did Luke mention where you guys would be going after the wedding. I was sure that he planned something" she said.
I shook my head.
"He hasn't mentioned anything" I said.
"Must be a surprise" she said with a shrug.
"Anyway, let's go down. We can wait for mom there. It's better if we talk about the basics together even before she comes" she said.
I nodded in agreement.
Lia and I left my room and both went down.
We went to the ball room where my royal training would be conducted.
When we arrived there, aunt Livi still wasn't around so we waited patiently and Lia started talking about how the training would be since she's also done it as well when she was little.
About half way into our talk, I sensed someone watching us.
I looked around and true enough, I saw Luke from a distant.
He had his usual expressionless face as he leaned by a wall watching us.
I was about to call him when he suddenly walked away and left.
My brows furrowed a bit.
Well, that was weird.
He didn't even come near us.
Hm.
What's up with him?
Aunt Livi finally came and we started my basic training.
Ay first, we only talked about how royalty are supposed to be.
Aunt Livi wasn't raised as royalty as well so she assured me that in time, I'll be able to move and act like one as time passes by.
Liana grew up as royalty so it naturally come to her.
We were like that for some time until aunt Livi gave us a break.
Aunt Livi stepped out and Lia and I sat down while we were served with refreshments.
I looked around.
I didn't see Luke anymore.
He didn't even speak a word to me.
I really don't understand him.
I wondered if he was upset with me or something.
I didn't even do anything.
What's he mad about now.
I sighed and drank my juice.
"What's up with you?" Lia asked me.
I looked at her.
"Does Luke seem off or is it just me?" I said.
"Luke?" she said and I nodded.
"He seems fine to me. Maybe a little more grumpy than usual" she said.
I could've sworn that there's something.
I just feel it in my gut and I don't even know of I'm just over thinking or what.
I sighed.
"Can I step out for a moment in the garden? I just need some air" I said.
Lia nodded.
"Sure, Ali" she said.
I stood up and walked out to the garden.
Then, I sat there.
I closed my eyes, tilted my head upwards and took deep calming breaths.
Deep...calming...breaths.
Then, I opened my eyes and I saw Lucas.
"Is your first day of royalty training already stressing you out?" he said.
I smiled and chuckled.
Then I turned to look at him.
"I didn't even sense you" I said.
"Sorry" he said and sat on the chair beside me.
"So how's your first day going?" he asked.
"It's fine actually. I'm learning the basics" I said.
Lucas nodded.
"Why do you seem stressed out then?" he asked.
I bit my lower lip.
Should I ask him too?
I looked at Lucas as I shifted my shift.
"Do you think something is off with Luke? I saw him earlier and I just can't seem to explain it but I feel like there's something off about him today" I told him. "Luke?" he said.
I nodded.
He thought about it.
"Now that I think of it, yeah. Something does seem off about him now" he said.
I knew it. It wasn't just in my head.
