Alissa's

POV

I looked around the hallways until I reached the ballroom.

Then, I sat down while still looking around.

I finished my training yesterday and didn't see Luke again.

I've been told that he went out to finish something and I'm not sure if he was already back but I was hoping he was.

Unfortunately for me, I couldn't replace him anywhere.

I sighed.

Where's he gone to and why isn't he talking time?

Is there some kind of tradition where the man doesn't talk to the woman before the wedding?

If so, why didn't I know there was?

I massaged the bridge of my nose.

Maybe Luke is just really really busy with everything.

I really shouldn't think much of it.

I calmed my wolf down since she was making me feel anxious.

In the past, I didn't really think too much when Luke and I don't talk much but since so much has been happening between us, I feel like the thought of us fighting and arguing again is giving me more anxiety than ever. The wedding day will be here soon and I feel like if something goes wrong again, it'll be downhill from there on.

I kept my cool and assured Quinn that everything was fine.

If she was anxious, it reflects on me and I really don't want to feel like I'm always on the edge.

I waited in the ballroom for Liana and aunt Livi until...

"Alissa?"

I turned around to look at the voice and I saw aunt Livi's mom.

I stood up in surprise and bowed to her.

"Your majesty" I said keeping my head low.

"It's good to finally see you again, young lady" she said as she stopped in front of me and lifted my head by holding my chin.

I rarely see aunt Livi's mom even before. I think I've only seen her a few times when she visited Luke, Lucas and Liana and I've only ever interacted with her once when I was 13, if I remember correctly.

"How have you been?" she asked and motioned for both of us to sit down together.

We sat down beside each other and I kept my hands on my thigh nervously.

"I've been good, your majesty" I answered.

Her majesty smiled.

"That's good to know" she said.

"Is my grandson treating you good?" she asked.

I pursed my lips.

"Yes" I said sounding too unsure to my liking.

Her majesty chuckled.

"I guess that question is a bit controversial at the moment" she said.

"I apologize. I should have known my grandson better" she said then turned to look at the helpers who were around.

"Can you someone please get us some tea?" she said.

The helpers immediately moved as soon as she said that.

Then, she turned to look at me again and smiled.

"Let's skip that question for now. You don't have to lie about how your relationship is going. Not all bonds are the same. Some start on a rocky path with their mates. Believe me, I would know too" she said with a slight giggle. I relaxed a bit.

"I'm sorry, your majesty. I just...it's really complicated at the moment" I confessed.

Her majesty nodded.

"I understand. I've been told that you and Luke didn't have the best relationship as teenagers either so I think it's understandable" she said and caressed my back lightly and a gentle tap.

"When I met my mate, we technically started off as enemies and became forbidden lovers. Some of us have lovely stories about how we first met our mates" she said and paused.

"And some of us have 'unique' stories of it. Like getting caught by the enemy territory border and then meeting your mate who turns out to be the supposed enemy or hiding and running away from your mate because you didn't want one only to replace out later as well that the father of your mate was also the same person who took you away from your family" she said with a shrug

I couldn't help but chuckle.

Of course I know both stories. Lia has told me about it years ago and she loved telling me the stories repeatedly.

I loved hearing about it too and the fact that her majesty is telling me about it now is so interesting.

Her majesty story on meeting her mate is the one where she ran away from her parents and ended up in the Lunar territory, got caught, was brought to the King which is aunt Livi's dad and then they ended up being together in secret.

As for the other case, it was aunt Livi's story. She was the one who didn't want a mate and based from the story, his majesty former King Luan went through hell to finally get close and be accepted by aunt Livi.

On top of that, his majesty's father had bad blood with aunt Livi's parents.

So I guess the complicated pairing of mates runs in the family because Luke and I are going through the same difficult cycle of the mate bond.

I guess the moon goddess likes the drama.

"My granddaughter has told you the stories, didn't she?" her majesty said.

I nodded with a slight chuckle.

"Yes she has, your majesty" I said.

Her majesty chuckled.

"Of course. It's her favorite stories as a child. I was sure she would've told you considering you're her bestfriend" she said with a smile.

I nodded.

The tea came and the helpers poured both her majesty and I a cup.

"Hopefully, your story with Luke wouldn't be as dramatic as mine and my daughter's" she said after taking a sip of tea.

I slightly chuckled.

I'm not too sure about that.

My relationship with Luke was too unstable to begin with and as much as I hate to admit it, I'm sure there will be more conflicts to occur as we try to make things work for us. "The moon goddess sure likes to make fun of royalties, doesn't she?" she said chuckling.

She sure does.

Mrs. Alaric and I continued chatting.

"Grandma" Lia came and she gave her grandmother a kiss on the cheek.

"Hello, love" mrs. Alaric greeted her granddaughter.

Lia sat beside me.

"I see you're already chatting with Ali. What do you think about her? She's pretty amazing, isn't she?" Lia said as she poured herself a cup of tea.

"Oh she is quite an amazing young lady" her majesty said.

I blushed shyly.

"She really is an amazing person and she just happens to be my best friend" Lia said.

I smiled.

"And your future sister in law" mrs. Alaric said.

Lia nodded.

"Lucky Luke" Lia commented.

We all chuckled.

After that, I found out that mrs. Alaric was going to teach me today.

As for today's lesson, I was going to be briefed about my basic responsibilities and taught on how to handle certain situations when dealing with matters outside of the the palace. Aunt Livi isn't present at the moment but she will be later on.

For now, it's mrs. Alaric, Lia and I.

I didn't actually have a problem with it since mrs. Alaric seemed very nice.

"Now, Alissa. Let's talk about your basic responsibilities as Queen" she started.

"You've already been taught earlier on how you should talk, walk, dress and act as a Queen would. Now, you need to know your responsibilities" she continued.

"What do you think your responsibilities are?" she asked.

"I'm supposed to support the King. Accommodate to the people's needs. Serve as a bridge to Luke and the wolves in the kingdom" I said.

Mrs. Alaric smiled.

"Very good. You've clearly been learning well from what happens around you while you're here. Smart girl" she said and gave me a pat on my lap.

Her majesty lectured me more about my responsibilities and Liana slipped in a few more things here and there.

Minutes turned into hours until a helper told us that it was already time for lunch so we paused the lesson first.

Mrs. Alaric also requested to take the lunch outside the garden so we did.

Lunch was served in the garden and we sat under the shade overlooking the beautiful bushes of flowers and water fountains outside.

"Now, that we're not doing our lesson, let's get personal" her majesty said.

"Ali, is it?" mrs. Alaric said.

I nodded.

"Yes, your majesty" I said politely.

"You can call me grandma, dear" she said sweetly.

I smiled at her shyly.

I'm not sure if I'm ready to get that casual just yet. Specially since I'm not exactly married to Luke yet.

It didn't seem right to call her grandma immediately.

"So, Ali. What hobbies do you have?" mrs. Alaric asked.

"Oh uh...." I tried to think of something.

"Training. I like training" I said.

She raised a brow at me.

"Training? Is that a hobby?" she said.

I chuckled shyly.

I realized that I didn't exactly have a hobby.

"Don't tell me that you don't have one" she said in disbelief.

I blushed in embarrassment.

"Oh my. So you're like my daughter after all" she said.

Mrs. Alaric and Lia laughed.

"She actually is like mom, grandma, now that I think about it" Lia commented.

"When Liviana was younger, her life also revolved around being an Alpha and training. I see that you're the same. Do you really not have any hobby at all?" mrs. Alaric asked.

I tried thinking again.

"I used to teach kids in the pack I was in before. We did a variety of things there like painting, drawing and other things. Does those count?" I asked.

"Not when it's part of your work" Lia said.

I pursed my lips and the two women chuckled again.

"So your life did revolve around training and work. Hm. That sounds too familiar" her majesty said.

Then, she gave me a pat on the back.

"After all of this, you're going to need a hobby, darling. One that's actually fun to do" mrs. Alaric said.

"Maybe shopping can be your new hobby" Lia suggested.

"Not the biggest fan of spending money" I said.

Lia pouted.

"Gardening" mrs. Alaric suggested.

"I have a black thumb, your majesty" I said.

Mrs. Alaric and Lia glanced at each other.

"I think we'll need an extra day just to figure out what hobby you could do" her majesty said and we all laughed.

We finished our lunch and continued with our lesson.

Hours passed by like the usual and we had dinner together as well.

Mr. Alaric joined us and so did aunt Livi and her husband.

Everyone was at dinner except Luke.

"Isn't Luke going to join us?" mr. Alaric asked.

"He said he was trying to catch a deadline, grandpa. He couldn't be bothered" Lucas said.

Mr. Alaric seemed disappointed but didn't say more.

"Luke is pretty busy since the wedding is very soon, dad. Let's understand him" aunt Livi said.

Mr. Alaric nodded.

The dinner went well and I went back to my room exhausted.

I wanted to go to Luke's office and talk to him but I figured he'd either be too busy or too tired to talk so I just decided against it.

I went to the bathroom and took a quick shower so I could sleep more comfortably for the night

After the shower, I slipped into an oversized knitted sweater and just wore underwear then went to bed with a towel on top of my head.

I grabbed a notebook from the side of my bed.

The notebook is where I wrote notes about my lessons and I re-read them so I wouldn't forget.

After reading the lessons from yesterday and today, I yawned sleepily.

I got out from my bed and dried my hair quickly so I can go to sleep.

Then, I jumped on my bed and snuggled into my pillows.

I need to rest for my last day pf training tomorrow and for my conversation with Luke.

Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
