Chapter 45

Chapter 45 At The Banquet

A temporary stage was set on the terrace on the thirty-sixth floor of Viton Hotel. It was beautifullydecorated with flowers and colorful lights from both states of the art bulbs and LEDs.

Vivian just finished her rehearsal. She sang so beautifully that some guests who arrived before the partylooked at her with so much admiration.

It was almost as if her voice had a mesmerizing effect. But she was still not satisfied with it.She thoughtto herself that distinguished guests normally came to this kind of event a little late.

They were the real ones she wanted to impress.

So she had to be nothing short of perfection! The only way that the night could be a memorable one forher was if she captured literally everyone's attention.

By doing so, her chances of becoming more than just an actress in a small- budget online drama wouldbe very high.

This brought a wide smile to Vivian's face.

All of a sudden, thoughts of Maria came to her mind. But it wasn't out of love or affection.

On the contrary, Vivian was entertaining herself with the idea that Maria had to end up with thedisabled, pathetic Anthony.

Anthony was no longer the heir of the Wilson family and he had nothing.

Maria and her husband would now have to depend on measly handouts from the family business tomake ends meet.

It soon occurred to Vivian that Maria was originally a country bumpkin who had nothing, and her lifewould still become better than it used to be after she married Anthony, even though the man had losteverything.

The mere thought of this greatly displeased Vivian. She was of the opinion that Maria didn't deservesuch a future.

After putting a lot of things into consideration, she eventually decided to be a tolerant and generouswinner by letting Maria off this time.

"Miss Jenkins, you sang amazingly just now."

A young man walked up to Vivian and paid her a compliment smilingly.

"If I may ask, have you undergone any form of professional training?"

"Hello Mr.Davis!"

She nodded politely in response to what he said.

"I'm Professor Lydia Clemens’ student."

The man in question was Malan Davis, the fourth son of the current CEO of Davis Group, one of thetop fifty enterprises in the country.

The company had a strong capital that was much stronger than Bill's business to say the least.

Malan was not the heir of Davis Group since his mother wasn't married to his father. She was only hismistress.

Vivian knew who he was.She was also aware of the fact that he could only live on the share dividend ofthe Davis Group all his life.

And this made her lose interest in him.

"Ah! You learn from Lydia Clemens? That simply means you are exceptional, Miss Jenkins.Else, such arenowned artist wouldn't have agreed to be your teacher."

Malan knew that he was not a catch among girls in the upper class.

In order to compensate for that, he became a smooth talker.

Whenever he was holding a conversation with a girl he liked, he would make up for his weakness witheloquence.

That was a readily available trick up his sleeves.

"Thank you, Mr.Davis.It has always been my goal to be a qualified actress and singer."

Even though Vivian did her best to be courteous, she was intentionally distant while they were havingthe conversation. She didn't want to give Malan a chance. But he wasn't one to give up easily. So he kepton flattering her.

After being persistent for nearly ten minutes, he successfully got Vivian's number.

Immediately the expression on his face changed. He was so overjoyed that it almost locked like he hadjust found a treasure.

Malan might not be on the list of guys Vivian liked, but he was an affable person.

And all his compliments and smooth talking made her very happy.

The banquet tonight was nominally hosted by the Film and Television Association of Sheffield.

The guests present were all big shots from the industry, including popular directors and actors.

In fact, the real purpose of this event was to entertain the families of the creme de la creme whilehoping to replace capable and willing investors.

At first, Vivian was surrounded by many people.

And she was very excited about that. She took her time to prepare for the party.

The elegant dress and exquisite makeup she was wearing made her look delectable.

As a result, many single men were attracted to her.

After a while, more and more actresses began to make their arrival.

Vivian was no match for them in terms of popularity. So it wasn't long before she stopped being thecenter of attention.

A certain female star--Lyndsey Mosby-- was the one virtually everybody was drawn to.It was as if shewas spotlighted.

"One of these days, I will be more popular than she is!"

Vivian vowed to herself while staring at Lyndsey. She saw several heirs of the powerful families aroundLyndsey.

They were all talking and laughing.

These men were Vivian's targets, but not for once did they take a look at her.She burned from jealousyas a result of that.

It got to a point when she didn't want to be sidelined anymore.

Being the determined young lady that she was, she decided to grab the bull by the horn.

So Vivian picked up her glass and boldly walked toward Lyndsey and the men.
