To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 1014 This is My Personal Business
Howard didn't fret about the matter. He looked at the room next door, seemingly struggling to replace the words to say. "Do you really like Jenny, sir?"
"I'm warning you, don't you dare harbor any ill-intentions toward her." Evan's face turned sour. He would not allow anyone to lay their hands on Jenny, not even Howard. Howard turned pale, understanding what Evan meant. "You care too much for her. That's not good."
If he cared too much about her, she would become his weakness. If Evan had a weakness, he would not be able to be the commander of his assassins.
"This is my personal business. It's none of yours." Evan waved him off, clearly not wanting to talk about it anymore.
Howard had no choice but to stay silent.
"You may leave." Evan sat in his wheelchair once more, becoming immobile.
Howard's eyes flickered. He left the bedroom, saying nothing.
After he left, Evan left his room and knocked on Jenny's door.
Jenny was lying on the foreign bed. She wasn't sleepy, so when she heard the knock, she got up and opened the door. "What's wrong, Evan?"
"What would you like to have for lunch? I'll get the kitchens to prepare it." Evan was still wearing a smile on his face as if no trace of sadness was to be seen.
Jenny felt that Evan was hard to read. She didn't care either. She just wanted to take care of him.
"I'm fine with anything. You can make the arrangements." Jenny didn't care about it. Besides, she had no appetite.
She pushed him downstairs and went into the kitchen. He ordered them to cook their lunch, and it was all food that Jenny liked.
They got along pretty well together. It was just Alec who was unhappy.
Vincent had found the best doctor in the world and had brought him to Bardoff City. Before he went to see Evan, Vincent took the records from the hospital and showed them to him. However, after seeing the records, the doctor said there was no way to cure him. Not even by his hands.
"Is it really that serious?" Alec said, speaking the doctor's foreign language perfectly.
The doctor nodded. "Yes. It is very serious indeed. In fact, even sitting in a wheelchair with this condition is hard to do, much less recover."
"What do you mean?" Alec frowned.
"He should be resting in bed. It will be very hard for him to move," the doctor said.
Alec thought of how Evan interacted with them in the morning and felt that Evan hadn't even been in pain in that wheelchair. He sighed. "Alright. Please perform an extensive checkup on him tonight." Although the records showed that recovery was beyond the realms of possibility, Alec still did not give up hope. He wanted to thoroughly examine Evan.
"Alright." The doctor did not object. He was brought over at a high price. It was what he was supposed to do.
After sending him off to rest, Alec grew quiet.
If there was no way to treat Evan, did that mean Jenny would have to look after him for the rest of her life?
He couldn't let that happen. Not a chance.
He turned and looked at Vincent. "Keep looking for doctors. I don't care what they specialize in as long as they can cure Evan. Bring them all to me."
He didn't believe that Evan's injuries were so hard to treat. Besides, Evan seemed perfectly fine sitting in that wheelchair.
"Alright, sir. I'll keep looking." Vincent nodded and continued, "There seems to be turmoil in the Fausts. Things are happening, and Yakov can't handle them. Even Zeke can't stand it anymore."
