To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 1015 Mortimer Is About to Waken
Alec wasn't too surprised. It was to be expected. "There are many families in Bardoff City. Plenty of them have their sights set on the Fausts. They never had the chance to strike before, but now they do. Of course, they'd have to kick them down. We'll just wait. As long as Zeke does not think of a plan quickly, those people will only grow more aggressive, and the Fausts will be destroyed."
When that time came, they might even be bankrupt. After all, the Fausts were not doing clean work.
"What if Zeke would rather let the Fausts be destroyed than look for your help?" Vincent knew that Alec's ultimate goal was to inherit the Fausts. He was afraid that Zeke would be stubborn. Alec sneered, not worried at all. "Relax. He'd never sit by and watch if that happened."
Alec knew how much Zeke valued the Fausts. That was precisely the reason Alec was sure he would become their last hope.
"Okay." Vincent harbored no doubts. He trusted Alec's abilities fully.
He hadn't yet left the room. Alec looked at him. "Is there anything else?"
"The hospital called. They said...they said that Mr. Mortimer seems about to awaken." Vincent was troubled. He knew how Alec felt about Mortimer. He'd never see him as a father. Alec was surprised. Could a person like that still come back to life?
"Does Alfred know about this?" Alfred was Mortimer's son now. Alec couldn't be bothered. He'd sent someone to look over Mortimer so that Mortimer would not play any tricks. It wasn't because Alec cared about him.
"Yes, he does." Vincent nodded.
Alec waved his hand dismissively. "That's alright, then. We need not interfere."
"Alright." Vincent was not surprised. He just knew that he had to tell Alec about it.
After a while, Alec said, "If he really does awaken, get someone to fetch my grandfather over. I was worried about him being in Parrington. It'd be better if he were here."
Alec didn't want to bring him over before because he was afraid that Old Mr. Faust would not be able to handle the news of his son's state. But now that Mortimer was awake, Alec didn't have to worry. "He might not come over. He can't bear to leave Parrington behind," Vincent said.
"Just ask him if he'd like to see his grandson sit at the top of the Fausts. He'll come if he does." Old Mr. Faust was very insistent about that. If Alec said that, he might just come.
Vincent nodded and turned to leave.
After he left, Alec worked on his laptop. Then, he went out. He looked at Jenny's house next to his and sighed.
She probably wasn't going to come back for a long time.
He started the car and drove toward Evan's villa.
In the afternoon, Jenny and Evan had their lunch and were currently taking a stroll in his garden. In the villa next door, Alec opened the window and smiled at them. "Have you eaten yet, Jenny?"
The two villas were near each other. Since Jenny and Evan were in the garden, they saw and heard him easily.
Their expressions said different things. Jenny was surprised. Evan looked as if he wanted to murder him.
"Why are you here?" Jenny came to her senses.
