It was a hearty dinner. Alec even brought out a bottle of red wine. Jenny had no idea what he was celebrating.

"Have a glass, Jenny." Alec poured out some wine and smiled at her.

Jenny felt that his smile was dubious. She looked at him warily and asked, "You're not thinking of making me drunk, are you?"

Alec didn't quite know how to respond to that. "We haven't really celebrated us getting together before." He couldn't tell what went through Jenny's mind at times. Was he that sort of person?

Jenny smiled dryly and tried to ease the awkwardness. "I was just joking. I know you're not that type of guy."

Alec chuckled. He didn't really push it. They clinked their glasses together and drank the wine.

Jenny preferred eating since Alec was pretty good at cooking. She wasn't much of a drinker. She looked at Alec. He seemed to have drunk quite a bit.

"Do you know how happy I am to finally be with you, Jenny?" Alec, who was getting tipsy, looked at Jenny with love in his eyes.

Jenny felt vulnerable under Alec's scorching gaze. "Maybe not..."

"You don't know how afraid I was to lose you. I was so afraid you wouldn't give me another chance, that we'd spent the rest of eternity just being neighbors." He couldn't imagine Jenny with someone else. He felt that Jenny's happiness had to come from him.

Alec was probably truly drunk. Sometimes he would say romantic things, but he would never use such sappy words.

However, Jenny was touched. After all those twists and turns, she still decided to be with Alec. To her, that was destiny. They were fated to be together.

When she saw that Alec was still going to drink, she hurriedly stopped him. "Don't drink anymore. You're drunk."

"Still, I am happy. Really happy." Alec rested against Jenny, feeling satisfied with what their future might bring.

Jenny let him keep on mumbling.

They arrived at the bar. Jenny did not know why Paul would choose to meet there. Was it because it was his territory? Did he want to fight again?

She glanced at Paul and Gilbert, sitting in the private booth, and then at Marigold, who was behind a screen.

Jenny didn't want Marigold to be there. After all, Gilbert's words were harsh. Marigold would be upset if she heard them. However, Paul insisted on bringing her over, saying he wanted her to face reality. Jenny had no choice but to let him.

"Why don't you two start by telling each other what you want," Jenny said. The silence couldn't carry on forever. She and Alec would be the unofficial judges for today.

Paul rolled his eyes. "Wants? Did she think this was a courtroom?" he thought.

But once Alec glared at him, Paul said indifferently, "It's simple. He slept with my sister and got her pregnant, so he must take responsibility!"

"And what about you, Gilbert?" Jenny asked.

Gilbert was surprisingly cooperative. He had to respect Jenny, after all. "Marigold is a grown adult. She should have known the consequences of setting me up. Hence, she doesn't need me to be responsible for her. She should be responsible for herself."

"Liar!" Paul was upset.

Jenny interrupted him. "And this is why you two are at odds with each other. The result will not change no matter how many times you talk it out."

Paul shrugged. Gilbert said nothing.
