To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 907 She Had No Choice
Much to Jenny's surprise, before she had the chance to pressure the Britts with the Walters' authority, she ran into Yvonne at the hospital ward. Yvonne was wearing casts on her limbs and was immobile on the bed. Only her eyes were staring at the ceiling.
"Is this karma?" Jenny stood by Yvonne's bed. She was randomly checking the names of the warded patients when she came across Yvonne's name. Of course, she had to check for herself. When she arrived at the room, she found out that the patient was indeed Yvonne Dickman.
Jenny thought the situation was ridiculous and laughed out loud without considering Yvonne's feelings. Upon hearing Jenny's voice, Yvonne trembled in anger even when she couldn't move a finger. "Jenny Walter!"
"Oh my, you recognized me from my voice right away." Jenny bent over, her face in front of Yvonne's, checking on her injuries. Yvonne gritted her teeth as she battled her urge to slap Jenny. Too bad she was in casts and immobile.
"Who beat you up? It looks like it hurts," Jenny lamented, wondering who finally did the right thing. It was so satisfying.
She watched Yvonne seething and hissing, "Don't be so fake! No one else could have done this except for you!"
Before Jenny's patient visit, Yvonne had been wracking her brain to figure out the culprit because she had never met the attacker. There must have been a mastermind behind the assault.
Yvonne confirmed that Jenny was behind everything when Jenny showed up in her room. After all, she only had bad blood with Jenny Walter in Bardoff City.
"You have a misunderstanding there. It wasn't me." Although seeing Yvonne beaten up was satisfying, Jenny was too dignified to resort to such low tactics. She'd rather spend time replaceing evidence of Yvonne's crime and send her to jail or ignore Yvonne altogether. It had never crossed her mind to get Yvonne beaten up. Still, she was delighted to see Yvonne punished for her wrongdoings.
However, Yvonne refused to believe in Jenny's innocence, which wasn't an issue for Jenny at all. She asked, "Why didn't Brandon Britt visit you? I thought he was head over heels for you."
Yvonne didn't reply. Jenny beamed even brighter. She heard that Brandon recently went on blind dates and was about to get married soon. The bride was naturally the daughter of a wealthy family. He wasn't that dumb to marry Yvonne.
At the same time, Yvonne was furious at the turn of events. She had thought that Brandon was smitten by her, and she even believed she had a chance of marrying him. However, reality was often disappointing, and she learned that Brandon had never considered marrying her. His action was a way of telling her that she was a woman to have fun with but not a suitable candidate for marriage.
She belatedly saw through the nature of the heirs in Bardoff City. Compared to the families in Parrington, the Bardoff heirs held their family reputation as sacrosanct over trivial affairs like romance. She wallowed in regrets, but she could not pinpoint what exactly she regretted. Even if she had stayed in Parrington, she would not end up in a better situation. She'd be left with no choice either way. And the reason for her misfortune was the woman standing before her.
Saddled with the heavy thoughts, her resentment for Jenny grew. "Jenny Walter, I wouldn't have ended up like this if it weren't for you!"
"Is that so? Why do I think you deserve everything you're going through now?" Jenny refused to be manipulated by Yvonne. She sneered silently, "Is she trying to guilt-trip me? Oh, dream on."
