To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 947 Long Time No See
As soon as Jenny arrived at the hospital, a nurse hurried over and said, "Dr. Walter, you're finally here."
"What's going on?" Jenny wondered, following the nurse.
"A patient's family requested that you perform the surgery," the nurse informed.
As she spoke, Jenny noticed the patient's family that the nurse was referring to and realized it was an old acquaintance she hadn't seen in a long time.
It was strange, really. Although she and Christopher lived far apart in Parrington, he had frequently appeared before her. However, now that she was in Bardoff City, she rarely saw him.
"Jenny." Christopher walked toward her. He wore a smile on his face, but it was much more restrained than before, and he seemed a lot more mature.
Jenny didn't know what Christopher had been through since she last met him. However, given how much he appeared to have matured, she guessed that the Spades had been through quite a lot.
"Why did you come to the hospital? How is Mr. Spade?" Jenny looked at him, having an inkling of what had happened.
She had performed surgery on Harvey before, and she knew how bad his condition was because of that. A tragedy had been avoided because she had shown up in time.
Christopher teared up as he tried to control his emotions. "Grandpa...he's not going to make it."
"Don't worry. Let me examine him. There must be a way," Jenny said.
Although she didn't know the specifics, she could tell the situation was probably not looking good, given Christopher's behavior.
Christopher shook his head and stopped Jenny from leaving. "There's no need for that. All the doctors have already checked on him."
Although Jenny was highly proficient in her field, she didn't think she was better than all the experts and professors in the hospital. "How did it happen so suddenly?"
It hadn't been long since the surgery. As long as Harvey took good care of himself, he shouldn't have been in his current situation. Christopher didn't answer. Instead, he said, "Grandpa wants to see you."
It caught Jenny by surprise as she was not very close to Harvey. Shouldn't he be asking to see his children or grandchildren instead of her?
"He probably has something to say to you, probably related to your identity," Christopher guessed.
Jenny was a little surprised. Wasn't her identity already discovered? What else could Harvey have to say?
Jenny followed Christopher to Harvey's ward, questions swarming in her mind.
Outside the ward, many Spade family members were waiting for Harvey's call, but to their surprise, he called for an outsider instead of them. Hence, they cast her hostile looks when she passed by them. However, they didn't dare to voice their thoughts. For one, it was Harvey's order. In addition, they couldn't afford to offend Jenny.
After Jenny entered the ward, Christopher stood outside the door instead of following her in.
"Mr. Spade," Jenny called softly as she walked up to him.
Harvey was wearing an oxygen mask and looked very pale, which was a sign of his poor condition. Noticing her presence, he opened his eyes.
Seeing that it was her, he revealed a small fine. "Jenny, you're here."
"Yes. Well, everything will be fine."
Jenny knew she was lying to herself but didn't know what else to say.
Harvey smiled, but perhaps because of his condition, his smile looked strained. "You don't need to comfort me. I know my body's limits."
Jenny opened her mouth but ultimately didn't say any words of comfort.
"I wanted to talk to you about your mother," Harvey said without beating around the bush.
