After sending Helga back to the hospital and ensuring she was fine, Jenny left the ward. It was already time to get off work, and she remembered that she had made plans to have dinner with Stephanie, Leonard, and Alec that evening. Since she planned it, she couldn't be late.

She hurriedly packed her things and headed out of the hospital. Alec was already waiting for her at the entrance.

"Dr. Walter, please get in the car." Alec waved to her, calling her Dr. Walter on purpose.

Jenny glanced at him but didn't comment on it. "Come on, let's head to the restaurant."

"Okay." Alec nodded, opening the passenger door for Jenny before getting into the driver's seat. The car pulled away, and the two departed from the hospital.

Across the hospital entrance, Evan sat in his car, looking in the direction they had gone for a long time without moving.

"We suffered heavy losses this time. Almost none of the people we brought back from overseas are left. We're in big trouble," Howard Young said, oblivious to Evan's unusual behavior.

He was one of his men who returned from abroad with him and his confidant.

"Many people have started investigating your background. Once the truth is uncovered, many enemies will come looking for us," Howard elaborated, full of concern.

Evan had been the leader of an overseas mercenary group for many years and attacked many people from his home country. He would end the target's life as instructed as long as there was money. Therefore he had offended many people.

It didn't matter that much when he was abroad. Now that he was back in his home country and had lost many of his men, he would suffer greatly if his enemies came looking for him.

Evan merely hummed in agreement.

Feeling anxious, Howard asked, "Why don't we go back?"

After all, they were not in their home ground, they had fewer people, and the authorities were strict. They had no advantage remaining there.

His suggestion stunned Evan, as he had never considered that option.

"No need. If we leave now, won't we be laughed at?" Evan sneered. Even though he had lost many people, he didn't seem worried in the least.

The sight of that didn't reassure Howard. Glancing at Evan, he asked cautiously, "Are you reluctant to leave because of Jenny?"

Evan's expression changed immediately, and he looked at Howard. "You've crossed the line!"

"Look, I know you're unhappy, but I have to say it. Jenny is too big for people of the likes of us to handle. You two are from different worlds. You cannot be together," Howard said. Evan's expression turned uglier with every word.

"Just forget about her," Howard continued. "You can get any woman you want. Why do you care so much for a woman like Jenny?"

Evan's gun had already been loaded at some point, and now it was aimed at Howard's temple. "It's none of your business, understand?"

"-"

"Shut up!" Evan interrupted him, not wanting to listen any further. "Drive!"

Howard gritted his teeth and remained quiet. He felt his resentment towards Jenny growing. If it weren't for her, Evan wouldn't have returned to his home country, and the lives of his colleagues wouldn't have been lost.

On top of that, Evan seemed to be smitten with her. Although nothing had happened yet, who could guarantee what would happen in the future?

He wondered if he should do something about it. He couldn't just watch Evan go down like that, could he?

Howard's thoughts were unknown to Evan. At this moment, he was thinking about when he should go look for Jenny.
