To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 987 Sorry for Disturbing Your Sleep
Late at night, there was a knock on Alec's door. Having just finished work and fallen asleep, he was very unhappy with whoever was disturbing his sleep at that hour. Emitting an aura of hostility, Alec opened the door but was stunned upon seeing the person at his doorstep.
"Jenny?"
Jenny leaned against the wall, her body aching all over. She struggled to lift her head and look at Alec. "I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep."
"What's the matter?" Alec immediately noticed something was wrong with Jenny and hugged her the next second.
Under the dim light, he saw Jenny's abnormally red cheeks and touched her forehead. He frowned immediately upon feeling her temperature. "You have a fever?"
Jenny replied weakly, "I probably caught a cold during the day."
After all, she had gone to see the snow in the morning and had been exposed to the cold wind for quite some time during Max's confession to Jade in the snow.
Alec looked worried as he carried her into his room and carefully placed her on the bed. He immediately brought some hot water for Jenny. "Wipe yourself down and cool off first."
"Okay." Jenny nodded and said, "I came over to ask if you have any fever medicine at home. I don't have any."
She'd just moved in not long ago and had not prepared for these situations. Although Walter Castle had some, Jenny was afraid she would pass out halfway if she drove over to get them.
"I'll go downstairs to buy some for you," Alec said. He didn't have any medicine either because he rarely got sick or had a fever, so he had no need for such things. But after that night, he would probably prepare some at home.
When Alec was just about to go downstairs to buy the medicine, Jenny grabbed his hand. "Forget it. It's too late now. The drugstore is probably closed, and it's too cold outside."
She didn't want Alec to catch a fever as well.
"Don't worry, and just lie down. I'll be back soon." He was sure that Jenny would feel great discomfort in her condition if she didn't take any medication. Therefore, Alec turned around and left after asking Jenny to stay put. For him, buying medicine wasn't a problem whether the drugstore was open or not.
After he left, Jenny struggled to get up and walked toward the bathroom. Alec wasn't wrong; physical cooling was very important for her at that moment. If she continued to burn up like that, she would become delirious.
In the bathroom, Jenny prepared to take a hot bath. As the hot water fell on her body, she immediately felt much better, and her mind became clearer. It was then that she realized she was in Alec's house. She felt embarrassed, realizing she should have gone back to her own unit to shower instead.
Jenny intended to quickly resolve the situation before Alec came back. Otherwise, it would be awkward by the time he returned. She turned off the hot water so she could dry herself and put on her clothes before leaving. But soon, she came to realize a problem.
She'd never been to Alec's unit before, so naturally, there weren't any of her things there. Most importantly, she didn't have a towel! What should she use to dry herself then?
Jenny felt helpless, and her gaze landed on the clothes she'd just taken off.
"Well, desperate times call for desperate measures," she thought.
Just as she reached out for her clothes, intending to use them to dry herself off, there came a knock on the bathroom door, which startled her and made her jolt.
"Jenny, are you inside?" Alec's voice came from outside.
"... Yes," Jenny replied hesitantly. She wished she could just disappear.
"I've left a towel and some clothes outside the door for you. I'll be waiting for you in the living room," Alec said, leaving the bedroom after placing clean clothes and a towel outside the bathroom door.
