To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 995 Fire at the Intruder
With a creak, the door was pushed open. The big man from before walked into the room and stared coldly at Jenny. "Miss Walter, ask Alec to come and save you." Jenny furrowed her brow. "Here we go again."
Was Zeke never going to give up? He'd just suffered a serious blow, and now he was targeting her again. Was he so eager to have another taste of defeat?
"We have no choice. You're someone Alec values," the man said.
Jenny stared at him with suspicion. "Did Zeke send you?"
She couldn't help but wonder if Zeke would make another attempt again so quickly. The Fausts weren't doing well currently. They didn't have a high chance of success by making a move again so soon. It didn't seem like Zeke's style of doing things.
"There's no need for you to know who sent me," the man replied without giving a definite answer.
Jenny looked at him for a moment, then lowered her head and stopped talking.
"It doesn't matter if you don't speak. We've already notified Alec, and he should be here soon. We just don't know if he'll be as lucky as last time," the man said before turning around and leaving. Jenny stared at the closed door and felt that something was off.
"Would Zeke really use the same method twice? If not him, then who? Moreover, even though the man just now didn't admit that Zeke sent him, his response was ambiguous and didn't rule out this possibility," Jenny contemplated deeply and then realized that no matter who sent him to kidnap her, they were up to no good. Consequently, she had to escape as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, when she tried to stand up, the soreness she felt in her whole body, her blurry vision, and the throbbing pain in her head all prevented her from taking even a single step.
As soon as the big man walked out of the room, someone approached him. "It's all arranged. The boss will be back soon, and he reminded us not to blow our cover."
"Ask him not to worry. We always deliver. When have we ever disappointed him?" the man replied.
However, right after that, he started worrying. "Why do you think the boss went to all this trouble?"
"He obviously wants to play the hero and rescue the damsel in distress," another one of the men said.
"I heard from Howard that our boss is completely devoted to this woman. He must be in love with her," someone else chimed in.
The others nodded, having heard something similar.
Just then, the man's phone beeped, and he picked it up. After reading the message, he put on a serious expression. "Get ready. It's starting."
With that, the group dispersed and began to act according to plan.
Jenny was struggling to replace a way to escape inside the room when she heard noises from the window behind her. She immediately turned her head and started to feel nervous. But soon, as the window was quietly opened, Evan's face came into her sight.
"Evan? What're you doing here?"
"Shh, don't talk. Those men are all outside. Let's sneak away quietly." Evan didn't let Jenny say much. He quietly entered the room through the window, picked up Jenny, and prepared to leave. He carefully placed Jenny outside the window. But when he was about to leave through the window, the door was forcefully kicked open.
"Who are you?"
"Everyone, fire at the intruder!"
With one command, gunshots instantly rang out. Hiding under the window, Jenny was extremely anxious as she didn't see Evan come out.
"Evan?" As soon as she called out, she could hear a muffled groan.
Jenny didn't have time to think much. She immediately got up. Looking through the window, she saw Evan in a gunfight with her captors. Jenny noticed his arm was bleeding; it looked like he'd been shot. "Be careful, Evan!"
"Get down, and don't move!" Evan shouted at her.
