Chapter 161 My Relationship With Him Is Over

Caroline struggled to cut through Alex’s ceaseless chatter. She tightened her hold on the coffee cup as

she unwillingly listened about Evan’s matters

Believing Evan had sought her for five years was easier than accepting his two–year alcohol abuse.

“Do you know why Evan ended his engagement with Daniella?” Alex asked.

Caroline replied, “Their relationship isn’t my concern, Mr. Price

Alex took it upon himself to respond. “It’s due to you. He discovered you saved him back then. He

admitted this while drunk, regretting his past treatment of you. He even said he’d give his life for

you if you returned”

Caroline compressed her lips.

“Evan knows, I see. But knowing changes nothing. It’s all in the past. Do you imagine the last five

years have been simple for me?” Caroline concealed her pain and retorted icily, “My connection

with him is severed, Mr. Price.”

Alex’s expression grew colder. “So, you have no feelings left for him?”

Caroline wouldn’t be truthful if she claimed none, yet reconciling was out of the question.

“Mr. Price, there are many things between him and me that can’t be explained easily. You know

about his suffering, but you don’t know about mine.”

She stood and uttered, “You’ll receive clothes shortly. Goodbye.”

Before Alex could reply, Caroline left the cafe.

Alex arched an eyebrow, watching her lonely departure. Soon, he dialed Evan’s number.

As soon as Evan picked up, Alex teased, “Ahead lies a bumpy road, Evan

Evan inquired, “What nonsense is this?”

“I bumped into Caroline and recounted your remarkable feats from two years back,” Alex said with

mischief, leaning back.

“Are you insane? Why would you do that?” Evan’s frustration was evident.

Alex was about to refute when Evan asked, “How did she react to it?”

Alex’s lips twitched

“She said she didn’t.” Alex suddenly stopped halfway through his sentence and smirked. “She

said that she hasn’t moved on yet.”

Evan held his phone tightly, speaking hurriedly. “Did she really say that?”

“When are you thinking of winning her back?” Alex asked.

Evan stayed silent. He recalled Caroline’s resistance in the past, so her recent statement puzzled

him.

He realized she might be saying this to regain his trust, aiming to approach Axel.

In a chilly tone, Evan replied, “Not happening!”

He promptly ended the call, leaving Alex bewildered. Why is he rejecting the idea of reconcili

with her after waiting so long? Did he damage his brain with all that drinking?‘

In the afternoon, Caroline and Kenny observed the workers transporting the new machines into

the factory.

With a relieved smile, Caroline watched as the new machines began to operate. “Once we finalize

the designs and fabric materials, we can start making ready–made clothes.”

Kenny rubbed his shoulder and looked at Caroline with a hint of complaint. “Hey, why didn’t you

bring me anything from the city?”

“I apologize. I was actually planning to bring you some coffee, but I got caught up with some

things,” Caroline explained. “How about this? To celebrate the official launch of the clothing.

factory, I’ll treat you to dinner tonight.”

Kenny’s eyes lit up. “Sounds good!”

For dinner, Caroline picked Summit International Restaurant for alfresco dining. After

coordinating with Kenny, she quickly returned to the city to pick up her children.

As Caroline stepped out of her car, she unexpectedly ran into Daniella

Daniella glared at Caroline. “Do you really think you can avoid me forever? Just because you did it

once doesn’t mean you can hide forever.”

Caroline furrowed her brow and responded icily. Tm sorry, but do I know you?”

“Still trying to pretend, huh? Caroline, I can recognize you even if you have turned to ashes!”
