"Brother, do you think Mommy can handle Maria?" Ernest was still worried after returning to the room.

Little Gary shook his head. "Of course not. Even I misjudged her before this."

Ernest also muttered, "The both of us would have been deceived by her if you didn't catch it just now. I didn't even realize that she was secretly observing us when she cried."

"That's right. She really was secretly observing us," Little Gary sighed, it was an unexpected discovery for him just now, "That girl is a little demon, the kind that pretends to look innocent."

"She probably asked so many questions just now because she was too bored, right?" Ernest asked, "I noticed that after you stopped responding to her, she started coming at me instead. It's almost as if hearing us talk made her excited."

"She definitely did it on purpose," Little Gary said affirmatively. "It was intentional. D*mn it, I felt so guilty whenever she cried. It really didn't occur to me that she was just pretending to cry this whole time." Little Gary's heart was still fluttering in fear when he recalled what happened earlier.

He just did not want to talk to that little girl. Then, she covered her eyes and cried. He was always curious about how she could just cry so quickly as if she could cry on demand.

He then observed Maria secretly, just to replace that her eyes were blinking through the gaps of her fingers, without any redness in her eyes at all.

He had no idea how she managed to make her eyes red before that.

He continued to observe her nonchalantly.

That little girl was still crying like a baby to Ernest.

Little Gary couldn't stand it anymore, so he pulled her hands away directly.

After all, Maria was still a child, so she certainly wasn't as good as Little Gary and Ernest when it came to defending herself. She probably did not expect him to have pulled her hands away like that as well. Her sly eyes were thus exposed in front of Little Gary and Ernest who caught her red-handed.

"You did this on purpose." Little Gary sounded firm about it.

Maria was startled for a while before denying his accusations. "What, what did you mean by doing it on purpose? Little Gary, what are you talking about?"

"You did that on purpose. You were just pretending to cry," he said seriously. "Do you dare to say that you weren't pretending to do so?"

She immediately shook her head. "I don't understand what you're talking about. I did no such thing."

Ernest was shocked too, "Gary, what do you mean?"

"She's tricking us," Little Gary said. "Ernest, believe me. She's definitely tricking us. I noticed her staring at us secretly while crying just now."

"No, I didn't." Maria blinked her eyes desperately. After a while, her eyes reddened.

Little Gary said, "Your acting skills are commendable, but maybe you can stop doing that. We're very tired now. Let's just be honest with each other, Maria."

She pouted and stared at Little Gary for a while while something flashed in her eyes, "Then you'll have to accompany me and answer whatever questions I have without stopping."

"Ha!" Little Gary smiled and shrugged. "So you're finally admitting that you have been tricking me and Ernest, right?" "No, of course, I didn't," Maria continued to deny.

"I'm such a well-behaved girl. How dare you accuse me like that? I'm gonna snitch on you to your mommy."

"You have to understand that she's our mommy, so think carefully about whether she'll pity us or you even more." Little Gary wasn't worried about Maria's threats because he already thought of ways to counter them.

It looked like this little girl was really too good at pretending to be so innocent.

Ernest immediately doubted Maria as well after hearing their conversation.

He stared at her unblinkingly, as if to observe whether she was really lying to them.

"Ernest." Maria turned to him after realizing she couldn't handle Little Gary. "How about you? Can you accompany me to chit chat instead?"

Ernest's first reaction was to look at Little Gary and seek his opinion.

Little Gary answered directly in his place, "He's not free. We're going to sleep now."

"Yeah, we are going to bed now." Ernest quickly expressed his stance as well. "You should quickly go to sleep as well. We are still young. It'll be difficult for us to grow taller if we don't get enough sleep." "I don' want to sleep." Maria shook her head and pouted. "Is it because the both of you don't like me and don't want to talk to me already? Is that the reason behind your actions?"

Little Gary waved his hand and said, "Having to rest earlier has nothing to do with whether we like you or not. In fact, we like you. That's why we want you to sleep now so that you can grow taller. Understand?" "I don't believe it." She immediately shook her head. "Little Gary, you just don't want to talk to me anymore."

"If you already knew that, why are you still asking me about it? Are you trying to embarrass yourself?" He became straightforward as well. "I hate befriending kids who aren't being truthful. I'm ditching you now.' Maria immediately tried to explain herself. "No, when was I like that? You are the one who kept on accusing me of being untruthful."

"Maria, I'll give you one more chance to come clean. You have been crying so often. Was it because you actually cried or were you just pretending to cry?" He looked at her seriously, "Remember, this is your last chance to redeem yourself."

Maria lowered her eyes. It was unclear what was going through her mind.

She looked at the ground for a while before she finally admitted, "I've been pretending to cry."

"See." Little Gary clapped his hands and said to his brother, "Ernest, did you see that? She just admitted that she has been pretending all this while."

"So what if that's the case?" She wasn't denying it anymore.

Ernest was dumbfounded as he stared at her in disbelief. "I can't believe she's actually like that," he thought to himself.

Maria thought about it, then stood in front of Little Gary, "So will you guys accompany me now?"

"Nah, let's call it a day," Little Gary shook his head. "We're going to bed now. Good night."

"You can't just go back on your word!" Maria immediately yelled, "You said you would give me another chance; that's why I finally admitted. How dare you lie to me now and not accompany me anymore?" "I never agreed to accompany you anyway," Little Gary said. "It was just the final chance for you to confess. You're still inexperienced in this after all, aren't you?"

Maria started crying right after realizing Little Gary was lying to her.

"There you go again." He felt helpless about it, but he was no longer worried when she cried, "Go on, tell my mommy about it so that she knows your true colors as well. Miss Holland should learn about this to so that she would stop thinking of you as a shy and introverted little girl."

Maria continued to cry, subsequently calling Grace over.

Hence, that was how everything unfolded itself. At that moment, Little Gary and Ernest were brushing their teeth to get ready for bed.

Ernest quickly finished up and said, "I'm a little worried about Mommy as she's currently pregnant. Will she have trouble falling asleep tonight after having to deal with that little girl?"

"Don't worry. Heinz will be able to handle it. If he can't even handle such a thing, he shouldn't be our dad anymore." Little Gary wasn't concerned at all.

"Gary, did you just admit that he's our dad?" Ernest immediately asked him with a smile.

Little Gary was a little startled, then he blinked his eyes before saying, "Did I? What a joke. He has to contribute a lot more to be considered my dad."

"But you just said it." Ernest held on to this, "Why don't you just quickly admit that Daddy is also your father? He's been so pitiful." "Forget it, I don't pity him at all." Little Gary said, "He has to bear with the consequences which were caused by his own actions."

"Gary, you'll also have to suffer from your own actions in the future," Ernest smiled and reminded him.

Little Gary frowned. "I'm the perfect representation of justice okay."

"Hahaha, okay fine, I'll watch how this unfolds later on," Ernest started laughing.

Little Gary frowned. He swept a glance at his brother and asked, "Ernest, are you waiting to have a laugh at me?"

Ernest shrugged as he went to bed. "Nah, not to that extent. However, I do think that you should be more easygoing instead of being so stubborn about it. It's not just about you, but about our parents after all. Didn't you notice how worried Mommy is regarding the fact that you don't want to call him daddy? She loves him so much to the point she doesn't even mind him being a player and a divorcee. Taking these into consideration, do you really think it's wise to continue doing this?"

Little Gary was at a loss for words upon hearing his words.

The way he gazed at Ernest was as if he was staring at a stranger.

"Gary, why are you looking at me like that?" Ernest

became a little frightened.

"You're usually so quiet, so that's why I'm very surprised at what you just said," Little Gary thought about it. "You do have a point there."

"So, do you accept my opinion?" Ernest quickly asked.

"No," Little Gary shook his head and said, "I'll still address him as Old Heinz!"

"Hey, did you just call for me?" Suddenly, Heinz opened the door and looked at them with a half smile.
