Timothy stiffened at that. He looked at his son in surprise.

Zayne didn't give Timothy a chance to speak and merely continued, "If we're really going to start casting the blame, you remember that you and Mom didn't know about Grace's existence beforehand, right? If she had known beforehand, she wouldn't have resorted to something like this! So if someone had to be held accountable for everything that has happened, don't you think that you bear the greatest responsibility? You are the origin of this misfortune, after all. My mother may not be a kind woman, but it doesn't mean that she has to take the most blame."

Timothy staggered backward a little and looked at his son in a daze. He thought what his son said was actually right.

He should be the one to take the most blame.

After a short pause, he replied, "Yes, you are right. Now that I think about it, I really am responsible for most of this."

He was really surprised that his son was so quickwitted.

"That's right. You should be the one to take the most blame." Zayne continued, "The reason my mother did what she did was that she felt her interest had been threatened. It was also because you didn't handle the situation well. Now, my mother has paid for what she did. But what about you, Dad?"

Timothy was taken aback once more.

Unable to answer his son's questioning, he merely stared at him with his mouth slightly agape.

"What kind of price do you think you should pay for starting all this?" Zayne asked again in a harsh tone.

Timothy calmed himself down a little and looked at his son before he answered, "Zayne, are you defending your mother?"

Zayne casted an intense and sharp look at Timothy at that.

"Do you think I have mistreated your mother?" Timothy asked again, feeling a little emotional.

"Yes," Zayne replied frankly, "I think that you're the one who should be paying a greater price, but it seems like you don't share the same thoughts. I don't intend to hold a grudge against you. I only hope that after my mother settles all the disputes on her end, she'll have nothing to do with you."

Timothy was taken aback. It felt like someone had just stabbed his heart with a knife.

Zayne saw Timothy's face turn pale gradually. A glimmer of something flashed across his eyes. He merely looked at his father quietly.

Timothy had always exuded a somewhat domineering aura. Although he was not good with words, did not live by formality, nor did he dress up deliberately for anything, he was still a goodlooking man. However, he was one without much temperament.

It was exactly such an ordinary-looking father who had failed two women.

Zayne's heart ached at the sight of his father's ghostly pale face.

After a while, Timothy had calmed down a little and saw that his son didn't look too angry anymore, but sympathetic.

His son was pitying him.

Like a superior man, showing sympathy for a weakling like him.

Just like that, in front of his son, Timothy actually felt suffocatingly oppressed. This was the first time he felt that he couldn't parry.

And the person who gave him this sort of feeling was his own son.

Timothy grew dejected as he clenched his fist subconsciously.

He never thought that he would feel so helpless from being condemned by his son.

For the first time, he began to truly reflect on everything in his life.

It really did seem like he was never fair to Quinn.

Timothy sat on a chair nearby as struggle filled his eyes.

"Dad, I've put a lot of thought into this," Zayne said, "I've concluded that perhaps it may be best for you to be alone. Although you're not a bad person, your negligence, and your arrogance has hurt everyone around you, especially the woman who loves you most. How do you plan to achieve real happiness if all you've done is hurt?"

"Zayne, if it makes you feel better to talk about your own father like this, go ahead," Timothy replied calmly.

It looked as if he didn't care about what his son said about him anymore.

Zayne looked at his father with the urge to get everything out of his chest.

"Not only have you let my mother down, but you've also let Grace's mother down," Zayne said.

Timothy was stunned by how much those words struck him. He lifted his red-rimmed eyes to look at the young man. The sharpness in his son's eyes shocked him to his core.

He said he had let Candace and Quinn down.

Timothy looked at his son silently for a long while before he let out a bitter chuckle.

Zayne did not speak after that. It was as if he had expected such a reaction from his father.

The silence was deafening.

Both father and son, one sat as the other stood, did not open their mouths to speak.

They remained like this for a full five minutes.

Eventually, Zayne spoke, "Dad, you can leave now. You and my mother have divorced. So, from now on, my mother's affairs will have nothing to do with you."

"Zayne, just exactly why are you doing this? Why did you bring her here personally?" Timothy couldn't help but question loudly.

Zayne merely replied calmly, "Because my mother can't get over you. I'm trying to help her forget about you."

As soon as he finished speaking, Timothy sunk further into the chair.

How terrifying.

He could feel goosebumps all over his body.

His son's ruthlessness was beyond his imagination.

He looked at Zayne as if he hadn't known him at all.

Zayne looked at Timothy very calmly and continued, "I'm being ruthless right now for Mom's sake. I'm already eighteen so I can freely choose who I want to live with and it will not be with you." Timothy was shocked once more.

Zayne turned around and walked away without a backward glance at his father.

Soon, his figure disappeared from the corridor.

Timothy was left alone in the corridor and did not move from his position for a long time.

Jensen came back to look for Zayne after he had asked about Quinn's situation. However, he saw Timothy instead.

"Mr. Yarbrough, what are you doing here?" Jensen asked.

Timothy looked up and saw Jensen. He stood up and greeted, "Officer Charm."

Jensen was shocked by how depressed Timothy looked. He looked like a completely different person at that moment.

Unable to contain his surprise, he proceeded to ask, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," Timothy replied with a forced smile.

Jensen was a policeman after all. Naturally, he understood how Timothy felt about the situation.

With a smile, he began to speak calmly, "Zayne was here just now. He sent Madam Berkeley here and I asked about the case."

"What's the verdict then?" Timothy hurriedly asked.

Just then, Zayne's voice could be heard from behind, "You're already divorced. Whatever the consequences, it has nothing to do with you anymore, Dad. My mother's affairs have nothing to do with you in the future. Can't you understand that?"

Timothy kept quiet after that.

Jensen cast a look at Zayne who had just walked over with a calm and impassive look on his face.

He looked serious.

This young man's aura was powerful enough to intimidate anyone.

Jensen looked at him again.

Timothy did the same as well.

"You can leave now. I'll handle Mom's affairs from now on." Zayne reiterated.

The situation had taken a turn for the worse.

Jensen could tell what Zayne was indicating.

They were divorced, so it was true that Timothy had nothing to do with Quinn anymore.

He looked at Timothy and offered, "Mr. Yarbrough, why don't you come with me and rest in my office."
