True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1084 Is This Luck?
Alice turned her face away, not wanting to look at Grace or Jensen.
After a long while, she said, "Sorry, I have to leave first."
After that, she left the ward.
Grace was very worried. Looking at Alice's retreating figure, she became more worried.
When Alice left, Grace immediately told Jensen, "Jensen, hurry and catch up with her. Alice is not only in a bad mood because of me, but also partly because of what happened between you two. Although I don't know what happened, I hope you can be more patient with her. She has been under a lot of pressure lately because of Sunny Group. Please."
Hearing Grace's words, Jensen nodded and said, "We are fine. The problem between Alice and me is not major. Don't worry. I'll go out and have a look. Mr. Yarbrough, I'll leave Grace to you."
"Okay, go ahead!" Timothy also said quickly, "Take good care of Alice." "Definitely." Alice's eyes were red when she came out of the ward, but she quickly wiped them away as she didn't want anyone to see her weakness.
She felt disappointed in herself. As soon as she saw Jensen, she couldn't help but lose her chill. She was full of chagrin and grievance.
This wasn't right.
The problem between the two of them could not be compared to Grace's.
She should've talked about the matter rationally, but Jensen's attitude did indeed make her upset.
She soon reached the nurse station and said directly, "Who is the doctor in charge of Grace Smith? I want to see him."
The nurse took a look at Alice and was probably shocked by her cold aura. She nodded subconsciously and said, "He's at the end of the corridor. The director's office."
"Thank you," Alice quickly walked towards the doctor's office.
Coincidentally, Jensen came out of the ward and saw her. He called out, "Alice."
Alice did not even look at him and continued ahead.
He had no choice but to step forward and grab her arm. "Wait a minute."
Alice's wrist felt a little painful from being held by his tight grip. She lowered her head to look at his hand.
As soon as Jensen saw her lowering her head, he followed her gaze and landed on her slender wrist.
She had gotten much thinner.
Her hand felt obviously slimmer than before. Alice had been busy ever since she took over the Sunny Group.
They barely had time for each other. At first, they lived at home, but later, they moved out. Alice even refused his mother's suggestion of having a family meal several times. Although Jensen also understood that Alice had her plates full since she had just taken over Sunny Group, he also hoped that Alice could enjoy her private life a little. However, she always said that she was busy.
This was the cause of their conflict. He had gone back home a few times for his meals. Sometimes, when he returned to Hart Villa District, Alice wouldn't come back until late at night.
The last time, she didn't even call Jensen when he decided not to come back.
And just like that, the tension between them grew silently.
"You've lost weight again," he said.
His voice was low and hoarse, with a slight tremor. It was obvious that his heart ached at the sight.
Alice was flustered for a while. Of course, she knew that she had lost weight.
Ever since she took over Sunny Group, she hardly had a good night's sleep, had a good meal, or even had a date with him, let alone show any affections towards each other. Alice felt moved hearing his distressed voice in this quiet corridor.
Alice sighed as she gently pulled back her hand and said, "Not really. I have to go to the doctor's office."
"I'll go with you," Jensen looked at his empty hand, though he did not show any disappointment. "Let's go and ask about the situation."
She didn't refuse.
She only walked towards the doctor's office.
Looking at her slender back, Jensen sighed again and quickly caught up with her.
The two of them came to the door of the director's office one after another. Alice reached out her hand and knocked on the door.
A low male voice came from inside, "Come in."
After that, Alice pushed the door open and went in, and Jensen followed.
It was the director's office, which also meant that it belonged to the head of the department. The chief doctor was filling up medical reports as they entered.
As soon as he saw Alice and Jensen coming in, the doctor was slightly flustered. "Excuse me, who are you?"
"Hello, Doctor, I'm Alice, Grace's sister. I've come to ask you about her situation. How much influence does the toxin from pesticide have on her twins?" She didn't want to beat around the bush. The doctor stopped what he was working on, closed the medical report, and explained the situation to Alice and Jensen. "Please have a seat!"
"Thank you."
After sitting down, the doctor looked at Jensen and asked, "And this is?"
"Oh, he's my husband, Jensen. He is a policeman."
"Oh." The doctor nodded again. "Does Mrs. Jones know that you are here?"
"She does," Alice said. "Grace told me that it was not a big deal, but I can't bring myself to be so optimistic. I think that Grace is just comforting me, so I want to verify this matter with you whether it has any impact on the twins or not."
"At present, the toxins we have perceived have little effect on the mother herself, but I can't completely guarantee that it won't harm the fetuses."
"I knew it's not that simple," Alice chimed in. "Everyone is saying that it's going to be alright, and that it's not a big deal. Grace said the same thing."
"Miss Smith, I can only say that there is no serious problem. We will have more information with more tests, but I hope that you don't place too much pressure on Grace now. It won't be good for the physical and mental development of the fetuses.
What we can do now is give her moral support. Everyone should be confident in this matter instead of worrying too much. Sometimes, excessive worry brings pressure.
It may be worse for the fetuses if the mother shoulders immense pressure. Moreover, we will follow up with further ultrasound and anomaly scans throughout the entire pregnancy. If there is really a problem, the OBGYN department will explain to her whether the twins should be kept or not."
After listening to this, Alice took a deep breath, and her face became pale. She murmured, "I knew that the problem is not that simple."
Jensen was also taken aback. He looked at the doctor and said, "Doctor, didn't you say that there won't be a big impact?"
"Yes, theoretically," The doctor said, "Grace has shown the least reaction amongst the patients who have been poisoned. There has been nobody else like her."
"Doctor, do you mean that she should be grateful that she didn't lose her life, and that we are lucky?" Alice asked in return.
