Boyfriend?

Nope.

Husband?

Certainly not.

Yvonne hesitated as she didn't know how to define their relationship.

At the same time, Zachary's gaze pressured her further.

Yvonne felt Zachary's gaze burning into her. She felt breathless and pressured to the point where her mind went blank. "He's my lover." She blurted out.

Wesley's eyes widened almost in an instant. He was completely stunned.

Zachary was also caught by surprise and a hint of anger flashed across his eyes. How dared she actullay said that!

Flames of anger burned within Zachary, but he didn't show it on the surface.

Instead, he shot Yvonne a cold glance and an indifferent glance at Wesley who was still in shock, then continued walking.

Wesley couldn't believe her words and asked, "Are you telling the truth?"

Only then did Yvonne react. She looked at Zachary's departure and felt helpless upon realizing what she said.

Forget it.

She wasn't lying technically.

She nodded, "Yes, Wesley."

Only then did she turn to look at Wesley and said, "Look, I don't deserve you. I'm as cheap as you are seeing now and you can do so much better. So move on and go now."

"Yvonne, this isn't true," Wesley suddenly shook his head, "I won't allow you to say that about yourself. How could you? Even if you plan to get rid of me, you don't have to go to this extend and tarnish your name."

Yvonne was speechless. She looked dumbfoundedly at Wesley, who was still so full of himself from the moment they met. She opened her mouth but felt bad about having to say anything that would hurt his self-esteem.

Actually, no.

She should be worried about not being able to hurt his self-esteem instead, considering how he wouldn't even think that she was trying to attack his ego.

She forced a smile and said, "Do you really think that I was doing this for your sake? Wesley, you're flattering yourself."

Wesley froze for a moment, then said, "Then let's assume you did this for your own sake. Yvonne, you're definitely not the type of woman who would look for a lover."

Yvonne was quite moved by how highly he thought of her.

However, she shook her head as her patience completely wore off.

"Wesley, don't you think you're making a joke? I know exactly what kind of woman I am." Yvonne looked at him coldly and continued, "I could even give birth to a child despite being unmarried, what else is there that I won't do? So what if I found myself a lover?"

Wesley was baffled once more.

Yvonne looked at Wesley indifferently and continued, "I was simply desperate for a man, which is why I looked for him. Move on and don't even think about joining us for dinner."

Wesley was really shocked to hear her words.

He quickly came back to his senses and said, "Yvonne, no, it's not that I must join you guys for dinner. I just want to tell you that I can't stand by and not do anything now that we've met each other again. We have to stay in touch."

"What for?" Yvonne was getting annoyed. They barely knew each other and yet he had already declared her as his fiancee. Two whole years at that.

She truly admired his courage and perseverance. That's two years, over seven hundred days, how was he able to live in such baseless belief for so long?

The problem was, they barely had any contact, and she could barely remember how he looked. So she couldn't understand how he could be interested in an unmarried single mother, let alone persist for so long.

Yvonne was completely annoyed with Wesley at this point. "Forget it, why should I stay in contact with you? I don't even want to keep in touch with my grandmother, do you have any idea why?" She said coldly.

"That's also what I wanted to ask you about. You can't just cut her off like that," Wesley said, "Did you know that your grandmother hasn't been well?"

"It's because my grandmother likes you and insisted for the both of us to get married. I've always felt that we have absolutely nothing in common, so I've been telling you from the start that we aren't suitable for each other. And yet you see yourself as my fiancee for two whole years. I'm truly amused. I have a child, are you even willing to become a step-dad?"

Wesley nodded furiously, "Of course. I have even prepared myself mentally. I thought that you probably made a mistake in the past, so I can forgive you for having a child. As long as you are willing to spend your life with me properly, I wouldn't mind being a step-dad."

"Oh, God!" Yvonne put her hand on her forehead and sighed helplessly, "How noble of you. How could you be so noble? Do you know that I want to burst into laughter hearing your words?"

"I mean it." Wesley seemed to be a little embarrassed as well as he touched the back of his head and continued, "I really don't mind what you did in your past. I fell in love with you at first sight, so I'm willing to wait for you."

Yvonne no longer felt awkward. "Sorry, I'm not interested in you." She told him seriously.

She stepped back, took a deep breath, and said, "You don't have to contact me. Whether I go home or not, it's none of your business. If you're kind enough, then don't tell my grandmother that you had bumped into me. Let's pretend that we've

never met each other in our lives."

As soon as she was done talking, Yvonne left.

Wesley grabbed her wrist anxiously.

Yvonne was so furious that she flung her hand.

However, he used a great deal of strength so she couldn't get rid of him.

Meanwhile, Zachary, who had walked far away, stopped. He finally took a look at what was going on and walked back.

He reached them almost instantly.

With a gaze as sharp as an eagle, he looked at Wesley's hand, which was holding Yvonne's wrist. "Let go of her!" He ordered. Wesley was shocked by Zachary's dominance.

He looked at Zachary dazedly and felt threatened.

Wesley frowned as he looked at Zachary. He was still struggling and did not want to let go of Yvonne.

Yvonne took this opportunity to break free from Wesley. Then, she ran to hide behind Zachary.

Zachary lowered his eyes and glanced at the woman behind him. He was very satisfied with her action. However, Yvonne was shocked by her own reaction and wondered why she ran to him.

Perhaps, deep down, she felt that Zachary had taken advantage of her her whole life, what's one more? She was more than willing to.

Wesley stared at them with wide eyes filled with incredulity and embarrassment.

He stammered, "You, you tow?"

"Mister, don't you think it's impolite of you to hold on to my woman for so long?"

"She's my fiancee," Wesley remained stubborn.

"I'm not," Yvonne denied.

Zachary got the gist. His eyes darkened as he looked at Wesley, "You want her?"
