Wesley was shocked but he nodded subconsciously.

Of course he wanted her, he had fallen in love with her the moment he laid his eyes on her. He was so in love that he was even willing to wait for her for two years. Yvonne froze as well. She couldn't tell Zachary's intention.

Zachary's eyes turned cold and stern as he said, "You can't afford to."

His voice wasn't loud, but it was icy enough to freeze someone entirely.

Yvonne remained silent, but she sighed in relief internally.

She was scared to death at the thought that Zachary might throw her to Wesley.

Wesley's brows furrowed tightly, "But Yvonne's grandmother has betrothed her to me. She said that I'm the grandson-in-law she approves of."

"Grandson-in-law?" Zachary sneered, "You sure think highly of yourself."

Wesley stared at him in shock, then he turned to look at Yvonne.

"Yvonne, say something."

"She is my lover, and I'm still not done with her. So wait if you have the patience." Zachary grabbed Yvonne's hand and walked away as soon as he was done talking.

Yvonne's heart ached at his words.

His lover.

That's right.

Wasn't that the truth?

Why should she be upset? She was the one who agreed to it.

She suddenly smiled and looked at how tightly he held her hand, "Sorry, I didn't expect this to happen."

Zachary did not say anything and merely looked at her coldly.

The atmosphere began to feel a little strange.

Yvonne didn't dare say anything else.

Even after they sat in the private room, ordered the dishes, and had the dishes serve to them, she still remained silent.

The room was filled with silence for a long time as none of them spoke.

After all the dishes were served, Zachary said,

"Let's eat!"

Yvonne suddenly raised her head and looked into his eyes, "Huh?"

Zachary looked into her eyes and his gaze became darker, "Weren't you hungry? You can eat now."

Yvonne was startled. She looked at the table full of dishes and then at Zachary. She then realized that his mood had improved.

At least, he was not as gloomy as she thought.

She looked at Zachary with embarrassment in her eyes and attempted to explain, "What happened with Wesley just now was really an accident. I really had no clue that would happen."

"You don't have to explain anything to me," Zachary said indifferently.

Yvonne froze and felt her heart tightened again.

She took a deep breath and sighed.

Zachary's voice sounded again, "You are just my lover, but I'm warning you, you aren't allowed to have such contact with any men during your time with me. If you get caught, you'll know what will happen." "No, no," Yvonne quickly waved her hand and said, "Don't worry, I don't have any relationships with any other men except you. You can rest assured."

She sounded anxious and wanted to explain clearly.

Zachary, who had lowered his eyes, suddenly looked up.

Their eyes met. For a moment, Yvonne saw that his eyes seemed to have brightened a little with a hint of a smile.

"Mm, that better be the case," he said nonchalantly, "I don't like to deal with rubbish."

"I know," Yvonne responded quickly and added in her own heart, "Me too."

Zachary glanced at her and said coldly, "Let's eat."

"Yeah, let's eat," Yvonne hurriedly lowered her head and started eating.

She was closed to starving to death.

Zachary, on the other hand, did not rush to eat. He merely stared at the woman wolfing down the food and thought of the distant past.

Even after seven years, she still ate the same way.

She was like this even back in school. Food was always irresistible for her.

She still ate the same way now.

She was no longer suppressing her true self.

Zachary looked at her thoughtfully before he finally started eating.

He didn't have much appetite.

Because they still had issues that hadn't been resolved.

Yvonne ate for a bit before realizing something was off. She raised her head and saw that he was frowning.

She slowly came to her senses and asked, "Don't you feel hungry at all?"

He looked up at her with a strange expression, "I am, but not that kind of hungry."

He stared at Yvonne's face pointedly as he spoke.

The way he looked at her was as if Yvonne was food instead.

It took Yvonne a while to figure out his words. When she did, her face flushed red all the way down to her neck. She looked adorable under the lights.

Zachary's eyes narrowed again.

Yvonne sighed internally and thought of how tremendously they missed one another over the years. She couldn't help but wonder if they had to resort to physical actions each time to fill the missing pieces in their hearts.

What exactly is love?

And why did it drive people crazy?

He was still the same person he was, yet probably not.

And so was she.

Ten minutes later.

Yvonne had calmed down and her face wasn't as flushed as before. Seconds later, Zachary said, "You go to the supermarket after you're done eating."

"What for?" Yvonne asked subconsciously.

"To buy some daily necessities," Zachary said.

Yvonne frowned, "Daily necessities?"

Zachary nodded.

"I've bought them already," she said, "I did it today."

"You didn't buy what we need."

"We?" Yvonne was puzzled, "What else do you need?"

"Condom," he responded.

Yvonne's beautiful face started blushing once again.

Good grief, she could die of embarrassment any second.

She did not expect him to bring this up at the table. Since when had he become so direct?

"But, but shouldn't you be the one buying it?"

Yvonne responded, "I, I'm a woman!"

"You can pretend as if you're not," Zachary answered, "Go and buy it later."

Yvonne pursed her lips and looked at him secretly, "How can I pretend that I'm not a woman when I am indeed a woman? I don't think it's suitable for me to buy something that is meant for you to use. You should go and buy it instead."

Zachary remained silent.

Yvonne's upset face was still red.

Zachary continued to eat his meal leisurely.

Yvonne felt a little unhappy, and protested again, "Men should prepare everything. You're my boss, so you should be the one to prepare all the necessary resources."

"I'm not as thick-skinned as you," Zachary finally responded.

Yvonne was speechless.

What kind of answer was that?

He actually dared say so.

"Alright, I'll buy," Yvonne clenched her teeth. Fine, so be it.

Zachary did not say anything, but the atmosphere in the private room seemed to have improved.

Yvonne wasn't sure if she had the wrong impression, but she felt that his mood got better.

Yvonne hesitated.

"So, when will you allow me to meet our daughter?" She decided to grab the opportunity and ask something that she felt was impossible to be fulfilled.
