Grace didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She just thought that this man was really meddlesome. Her cousin and Yvonne were having a hard time, but he still had the nerve to make fun of them. But she couldn't deny that what Heinz said was right.

Time is indeed short.

A lifetime could seem long, but in fact, it would end quickly. Instead of dwelling on unnecessary things, it was better for them to forget their troubles, live a good life and cherish the time at present. After their wedding, life was very busy yet fulfilling forthem.

Their nights were also extremely intimate.

But for Yvonne and Zachary, that was a sleepless night.

Zachary had no home to go back to.

After his mother had driven him out, she called him to say that he was not allowed to go home until he married Maria's mother.

However, he couldn't stay with Yvonne either.

He was afraid that he could not hold himself back from strangling Yvonne to death.

Because that woman had the ability to enrage him constantly and drive him crazy.

He couldn't fall asleep in the hotel either. He smoked as he faced the floor-to-ceiling window at the dead of the night.

It was only in the small hours that he laid down and slept for an hour.

He went to the company early in the morning.

Yvonne also had dark circles around her eyes when she went to the company.

After she sat down in her seat, everyone came in one after another.

She did not know that Zachary came before she did and she had been busy the entire time. It was not until he came out from his office that she knew he had arrived.

She was very surprised.

Zachary did not even glance at her; he only ordered Xandra to do something.

Yvonne lowered her head and peeked at Zachary from the corner of her eyes. Only then did she realize that he looked very haggard. He had changed into a different suit, but it was still difficult to hide his haggardness.

Yvonne was very anxious.

She felt that she needed to talk to him alone.

Therefore, when Zachary finished giving tasks to Xandra, Yvonne immediately stood up and followed him into his office.

"President, I have something to talk to you about," she said.

Zachary said in a deep voice, "I don't have time."

Yvonne was startled. She spoke again, "It's urgent. It'll only take a few minutes."

Zachary did not say anything again and let Yvonne follow him into his office.

The door closed.

Yvonne looked at his back as she conflicted.

After Zachary sat down on the executive chair, Yvonne said, "Zachary, let's talk."

As soon as Zachary sat down, he frowned and looked coldly at Yvonne. He said, "Let's talk? You want to talk to me about private affairs during work hours?"

"From the moment you arranged for me to be involved in your public affairs, we'd eventually mix them up." Yvonne looked at him. She didn't want to be voiceless, so she had to tell herself to be more rational when talking to him.

Therefore, she didn't give in.

Zachary looked at her. Seeing that she was so stubborn, he withdrew his eyes and looked down at the documents in his hand. He inadvertently admitted nor denied.

Yvonne could only continue to ask, "Zachary, you couldn't forget about me after all these years, could you?"

Zachary smiled coldly and directed his sharp gaze at her eyes.

Yvonne pursed her lips, still waiting. She would stubbornly wait for him to answer her question.

Zachary remained silent. After a long time, he raised his eyes and stared at Yvonne, unwavering.

"So what if I did? So what if I didn't?"

Yvonne clenched her fists and looked into Zachary's eyes. "You want me to return to your side, so you made me your lover to make me stay. You want to humiliate me and observe me, to know if I'm qualified enough to stay by your side?"

Zachary's eyes suddenly became sharp.

Was he actually such a despicable, benefitmeasuring villain in her eyes?

He laughed softly, and his eyes were as cold as ice. He put down the document in his hand, looked at Yvonne, and said in a cold voice, "Yvonne, what do you actually want to say?"

"I want to know if I still mean anything to you in your heart?"

All she wanted was his feelings for her.

She hoped that Zachary would be able to understand her.

However, Zachary merely sneered.

Faced with Yvonne's question, Zachary only coldly raised his lips. He merely looked at her and didn't say anything.

Yvonne also looked at him, not avoiding his gaze. Her heart ached when she saw Zachary's similarly haggard, bloodshot eyes that were also covered in black circles.

After a long time, she said, "Zachary, you still like me, don't you?"

It was an embarrassing question to ask.

But she knew she had to.

Yvonne seemed to have no strength left as she looked at Zachary and waited for his answer.

The atmosphere was so quiet that they could almost hear each other breathing.

Zachary stared at Yvonne; his gaze felt unfamiliar and icy to her.

Her heart grew colder being stared at by him that way. The expectations she had earlier gradually faded, and so did her impulsiveness.

Yvonne pursed her lips and wanted to leave when she couldn't get the answer she wanted.

She awkwardly twitched her lips and said. "It's... it's alright. I've imposed on it. I really shouldn't have held onto my fantasy. Sorry for bothering you." She turned around quickly, and in the next second, tears fell.

Zachary suddenly said in a deep voice, "You're giving up just like that?"

Yvonne stared blankly for a moment, her back stiffened. She stood still, not daring to turn around, fearing that he would see her tears.

Zachary's cold voice traveled to her ears, "Since you think I still like you, then let me ask you, do you still have me in your heart?"

Yvonne was stunned for a moment. Finally, she opened her mouth, choking sobs as she said, "Of course I like you."

The woman expressed her feelings more bravely than the man. This was very embarrassing. Yvonne had never been so embarrassed before.

She still did not turn around, nor did she want to wait any longer. She took a step forward and prepared to leave.

"You anxiously want to go out because you want to leave and come back in another five years, isn't it? Or perhaps another year?" Zachary's voice came from behind. His words made her unable to take another step.

"I'm not leaving," she said softly, "There's nothing between Mr. Trevino and me. We don't have any affection for each other. I just wanted to explain this. I'm done speaking. I'm going back to work." She walked to the door and was ready to open it.

"Have I allowed you to open the door and leave?" Zachary's voice came from behind her. He had already stood behind Yvonne.

Yvonne froze. She didn't want him to see her cry, so she immediately opened the door.

As soon as she put her hand on the doorknob, he grabbed her hand and stopped her from moving forward. She was also pressed against the door. Yvonne's face was pressed to the mahogany door.

His actions were swift and silent. He was suddenly behind her before she knew what was going on.

Yvonne wanted to say something, but Zachary was one step ahead and silenced her, saying, "You always think so highly of yourself, Yvonne."
