Celeste's heart did a flip. She raised her eyes and met his gaze.

This time, she didn't avoid; she merely stared at him.

They exchanged glances for over ten seconds.

Celeste regained her senses in silence as she found her ears feeling a little hot. She couldn't tell why, but she felt her heartbeat had increased a lot as well.

Gary didn't look at her anymore. He acted very calmly after that, "One last thing, it's been an honor for me to meet every one of you here. See you guys again."

After that, he left the stage.

Everyone applauded.

His farewell was simple and calm.

Gary returned to his seat, took his backpack, looked at the homeroom teacher, then stood up to leave.

"You're leaving now?" The homeroom teacher was shocked.

Gary nodded, "I've already bid farewell to everyone, so I might as well leave now."

"Aren't you going to at least finish this class?" The homeroom teacher was reluctant to watch him go.

"If I stay any longer, I'm afraid you'll cry," after saying that, Gary left with a smile.

His smile seemed very warm but also lonely at the same time.

Looking at his back, it took a while for everyone to finally regain their senses.

Someone asked Ernest, "Ernest, when will you be leaving?"

"I'm not in a hurry," Ernest said with a smile, "I'll let you guys know when I'm leaving."

"Celeste," At this moment, the homeroom teacher called out Celeste's name.

Celeste looked at the teacher.

"Follow me to my office."

Celeste stood up, went out, and followed the homeroom teacher into the office.

"What's going on with you?" the homeroom teacher asked as soon as they entered the office, "I thought you were planning to go to the United States, but why did your guardian just inform me that you are now planning to further your studies in England?"

Celeste was taken aback. She hadn't expected her guardian to inform her teacher so quickly.

Celeste was a little surprised, but she still nodded obediently, "Yes, Teacher, I'm planning to go to England."

"Why did you change your mind all of a sudden, though?"

"Nothing, I just thought that it would be better for me to go to England, Teacher. You don't have to worry about me, once I'm in England, I can still send in my application to study in the United States if I wish to." Staring at this innocent girl in front of her, the homeroom teacher could only nod. She knew that Celeste was a good, hardworking student, but at the same time, she was also very innocent when it came to worldly affairs, so it was surprising that she was still so confident.

"I don't doubt your capability, but I just replace this sudden change to be pretty regrettable."

Celeste smiled and said, "Not at all. Perhaps, like what Gary said just now, we might meet each other again in the future, so I'm okay with studying anywhere since I believe that I will have the upper hand no matter where I am."

The homeroom teacher looked at her seriously and did not say anything for a long time.

After a long time, she sighed pitifully and said, "I thought that you would go to the United States with Gary. That child doesn't care about anyone. However, you managed to attract his attention. I thought you two would... Never mind."

The homeroom teacher waved their hand, not wanting to say more, and let Celeste leave.

The Jones family gathering was held the next day.

However, the star of the gathering, Gary, was not present.

Heinz looked at the guests and noticed Gary's absence. He immediately frowned and asked the butler, "Where is Gary? Where did he go?"

"Master Gary said he had to go out for a while and that the gathering can start without him. He will be back soon."

"How infuriating," Heinz muttered to vent his frustration. This child had always been out of his control since he was a child.

Ernest was waiting at home alone. The two of them were the stars of the day. Since Gary wasn't here, he could only stay and hold the fort by himself.

Meanwhile, Celeste was locked up at home.

After she came back, she told Miss Yates that she wanted to study in England and expressed her wishes for Cindy not to interfere with her, even if she was her guardian. Miss Yates was Cindy's assistant, so she was a trustable confidante who was in charge of her daily affairs.

Celeste barely saw Cindy within the country as well. Miss Yates was the one who would handle her affairs most of the time.

Including matters like attending parent-teacher conferences and so on.

However, she didn't expect Cindy to oppose her change of heart to study in England. She even asked Miss Yates to lock her up at home.

She felt very lonely in a 400 square feet house.

At that moment, she was so sad that she felt like rebelling.

She wanted to escape.

When Miss Yates went out, Celeste took the opportunity to climb out from the window and run away secretly.

Little did she imagine the paparazzi to appear since she was being locked up in Cindy's private property.

Cindy's reputation and prestige were very well-developed now, so the paparazzi would naturally want to get the latest news.

Especially in the previous few years, there had been rumors regarding Cindy's illegitimate daughter, so the paparazzi had been trying to get a photo of that said child.

Celeste had no idea if she was, in fact, Cindy's daughter. All she knew was that Cindy fostered her in Canada ever since she was a child. However, Cindy had always asked her to address her as Aunt, and they rarely met each other even though she was her guardian.

As soon as she got out, the paparazzi approached her with their cameras.

Celeste was shocked. But it was too late for her to hide.

She could only cover her face with her hands and run forward. She couldn't care about anything else as she ran past them quickly.

"Don't let her run away. We've finally managed to get a photo of her."

One of the paparazzi quickly said.

Hearing that, Celeste ran even faster.

She was quite familiar with the surroundings of this house, so she rushed outside after a rough rampage.

Unexpectedly, the weather changed and began raining.

Celeste didn't hide from the heavy rain and merely tried returning to where she lived.

She didn't want to be locked up, but Miss Yates was ordered to lock her up as an attempt to make her change her mind about going to England, so that she could follow through with her original plan and study in the United States instead.

She was annoyed and disheartened, but it was still indescribable.

But no one truly cared about her feelings anyway.

There were still people chasing after her.

Celeste could only rush forward as she didn't dare to remain where she was.

"Creak!"

An ear-piercing screech of brakes rang.

"Celeste, get into the car."

A familiar voice traveled into her ears. Through her blurry vision, she saw a taxi, and the door opened. What she saw next was Gary's angular face.

As usual, he merely stared at her indifferently.

"Get in the car," He urged again, and there was now a slight wave of emotion in his voice.

Because someone had almost caught up.

Celeste quickly got into the car.

Her whole body was drenched, which made her look very pathetic. Her drenched clothes began to wet the backseat of the car.

The driver complained in front, "Hey, little girl, it's difficult for me to make more business after you wet my car seat."

"Shut up," Gary said coldly.

The next second, he took out his wallet and handed over two large notes to the driver.

The driver was taken aback and quickly shut his mouth. Then, he smiled and took over the money.

Gary sat on the other side and glanced at Celeste, who was sitting next to him with her head lowered. He took out a tissue and handed it to her, "Wipe yourself dry."

Celeste felt a little embarrassed. She forced out a smile, but mixed emotions surged within. "Thank you." She said.
