There was complete silence.

Cindy's eyes were widened as she stared at Celeste in a daze.

After asking the question, Celeste also fell silent.

This topic was taboo.

This topic was forbidden in their house. Every time she mentioned this, she would get scolded.

Celeste had asked this question back when she was very small. Consequently, her aunt had refused to visit her for three months.

Her nanny had taken care of her during that period, and she was scared that her nanny would abandon her too.

When she was still living in Canada, she spent most of her time alone.

But now, she couldn't hold it in anymore. She had come clean with everything.

Now, this problem was presented and it had to be resolved.

Celeste only wanted to know the truth. She knew she probably looked crazy.

She didn't have such courage at any given moment.

Now, she had mustered up her courage.

She wanted to know the truth.

Cindy stared at her. Her pupils dilated and her entire body was trembling.

"An illegitimate daughter?" She chuckled softly. She sounded sarcastic, "My a*s!"

Celeste's heart skipped a beat. She was a little puzzled to see her acting this way.

"Do you really think you're my illegitimate daughter?" Cindy questioned Celeste as well as herself. Suddenly, she burst out laughing.

It was as if she had gone mad.

The makeup on Cindy's face was ruined and her eyes were getting watery. Glitter was smeared across her eyelids, and it glittered under the lights. She looked particularly miserable.

"Liam, did you hear that?" Cindy glanced at Liam and laughed, "She said she's my illegitimate daughter."

Liam looked at Cindy awkwardly and didn't know what to say.

But at that very moment, he had been involved and there was no way he could just keep quiet. Thus, he said, "Miss White, I know that you might be exasperated, but I have no idea what's going on." "Don't try to play dumb with me," Cindy said bluntly, "Are there such rumours regarding this?"

Liam opened his mouth awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

"That's enough. From the looks of it, there must be such a rumour," Cindy uttered.

Liam nodded, "That's indeed true. Miss White, there is really such a rumour regarding this. However, everyone inside the entertainment industry knows that most of the rumours are unreliable." "Then do you believe it?" Cindy asked.

Liam was frozen in place.

He was at a loss for words.

He felt that it might be true.

Seeing that Liam didn't answer her question, Cindy laughed wildly again, "You all really think too highly of me. If I had such a daughter, I would have said that I was the one who gave birth to her. Do you think I will hide my daughter like this and raise her in the dark?"

Liam was silent.

Celeste looked at her and muttered, "Don't people in the entertainment industry enjoy raising their children in the dark? If I'm not your child, why would you want to raise me up in Canada? Why can't you just say that I am your niece?"

Cindy shot back, "Didn't I already admit that you are my niece to Liam?"

"That's different," Celeste paused and stared at her, insisting, "Liam is not the media."

Cindy snorted, "Who do you think you are? Do you need the media to recognize your identity?"

After being satirized, Celeste's heart skipped a beat. She pursed her lips and said, "You are contradicting your own words. Isn't this evidence that you can't even tell me who I really am?"

"You are my niece," Cindy insisted.

Celeste shouted fearlessly, "I don't believe it unless you prove it."

"How do you want me to prove it?" Cindy asked. She seemed that she was not the slightest bit afraid of this. It was as if she was really unrelated to Celeste.

"A DNA test," Celeste shouted loudly, "It's that simple. I don't believe you and you can't prove it. So let's just do a DNA test."

"Then what if the test shows that you are not my biological daughter?" Cindy questioned her.

"Then I'll leave you as a sign of gratitude for bringing me up for so many years," Celeste said.

"You have to think it through clearly. If the test shows that you are not my biological daughter, you will no longer be entitled to benefit from my financial support anymore. I won't be supporting you to continue your studies in London. This is not a small sum of money."

Celeste was certain that Cindy was just trying to scare her. She knew that she was not capable of paying for her own expenses, so she was using this to threaten her.

Celeste couldn't give in.

She would not give up so easily.

This was her only opportunity to prove her relationship with Cindy.

If she wasn't her daughter, she wouldn't be so hesitant and upset over nothing.

"I insist on the DNA test," Celeste declared slowly, "And I want to do it right away."

Cindy said through gritted teeth, "Sure, then let's go do one now."

After that, she took out her phone and made a phone call to her assistant, "Help me contact the clinics in London that conduct DNA tests, I need a parentage report." Soon, she hung up the phone.

Liam was worried, "Miss White, Celeste, don't be so rash. Is there anything that can't be discussed in words?"

"She just can't explain clearly why she's yearning after Mr. Heinz," Celeste was still fuming and had nowhere to vent her anger. Therefore, she ended up shouting at Cindy.

Instead, Cindy threw caution to the wind, "I am coveting him. I love him. What's wrong with that? I have loved him for many years and until now, I still can't forget about it. What's wrong with that?"

Liam was stunned.

Celeste was also dumbfounded.

She looked at Liam awkwardly and then at Cindy.-before asking, "You don't mind being so shameless in front of your student?"

Cindy glared at Celeste, asking, "You can't take it anymore? I have the right to fall in love with Heinz. And I don't mind admitting it in front of anyone."

Celeste felt helpless.

Cindy also calmed down a little and soon said coldly, "After I get a reply, we'll get a DNA test immediately. Once it's clear that we're not mother and daughter, you'd better scram. I will no longer raise you useless brat. You're as ungrateful as your dad."

Celeste looked pale.

Liam looked at Celeste's slender figure and frowned slightly, "Celeste, are you sure you want to do this? Just give in. It's not easy for Miss White to raise you all these years."

Celeste pursed her lips and stubbornly refused silently.

"Celeste, is there no way around this?" Liam tried to convince her.

Darkness brewed in the depths of Celeste's eyes.

Meanwhile, Cindy turned her face away and stopped talking.

About ten minutes later, the phone rang.

"Miss White, we've found one. Are we going over now?" The assistant's voice could be heard from the other end of the line saying, "If you do the test now, the result will be out within three hours." "Now. We're going there right away," Cindy looked impatient.

Hanging up the phone, she uttered to Celeste, "Come, we'll go at once."

Soon, they went to the testing center.

After they had their blood samples extracted, Celeste insisted on waiting there. She was afraid that they might tamper with the results behind the scenes.

Hence, she chose to wait there.

Feeling helpless, Liam whispered to Celeste softly, "Celeste, the results may not be what you expected it to be. Judging by my knowledge of Miss White, she would've admitted long ago if you are really her daughter."
