True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1632
When Liam received the call, he hung up directly and sent a message to Johnny. "If you need something, talk to my lawyer. I've authorized them to handle this matter."
Seeing that Liam refused to answer the phone, Johnny immediately sent a message in reply. "Liam, even if you want to terminate the contract, you have to meet Sinclair. He wants to meet with you. Don't you want to know why you were treated in that way?"
Liam barely glanced at Johnny's message before handing his phone to Gary.
Gary sneered. "You can't go and see them. If they manage to sway you, then it won't be easy for us to do anything. Hence, it's better to let the lawyers deal with it."
Liam nodded. "You're right, I'm not good at handling such matters. I should just let the lawyers handle it."
He knew all too well that they wanted to convince him not to terminate the contract, especially after Cindy's scandals.
Liam messaged Johnny back saying, "There's no need for us to meet." After that, he ignored all of Johnny's subsequent texts and calls.
No matter what Johnny said in his messages, he did not reply.
Johnny had no choice but to report it to Sinclair. "Boss, Liam isn't answering his phone, nor does he want to meet you. He told us to talk to his lawyers."
Sinclair frowned. "Call Cindy. Get her to apologize to Liam. Tell Monica that if Cindy doesn't do what the company asks her to do, then she won't have another chance to redeem herself again ever." Johnny immediately went to call Monica and explained the situation to her, including what Sinclair wanted.
Monica was irritated. "Did Sinclair really say that?"
"Yes," Johnny replied. "He asked me to inform you that no one should protect Cindy this time."
Dejected, Monica retorted, "It seems that he's determined to give up on Cindy this time."
"Monica, it'll be better for you to replace a way out for yourself," said Johnny. After that, he called Cindy. "Miss White, the boss wants you to apologize to Liam. Don't you think you should give him an explanation about why you oppressed him?"
As soon as Cindy heard that she had to apologize to Liam, she immediately got anxious. "Without the boss' consent, no one could've oppressed Liam. All he wants is to make me the scapegoat for what happened."
Johnny remained silent as he waited for Cindy to finish venting her frustrations.
Seeing that, she knew at once that she was being bullied.
At that moment, Monica opened the door and walked in. They looked at each other.
Cindy said into the phone, "Ask him if I really should be the one taking the blame. It's not right for me to take the blame for this."
"Miss White, no one is more suitable to take the blame than you. Your career is finished. If you cooperate with the company, perhaps they'll give you a chance and offer you some form of compensation." Upon hearing this, Cindy frowned, and her face turned pale.
"Consider carefully, Miss White." Then, Johnny hung up the phone.
Cindy looked at Monica, her eyes red. "Monica, I'm doomed."
Monica nodded. "Yes. It'll be difficult for you to make a comeback this time."
Even though Monica had many tricks up her sleeve, there were so many scandalous videos about Cindy that she couldn't resolve it by simply issuing a statement saying that someone else had framed her. Cindy staggered and sank onto the sofa. "Liam was the one who conspired with outsiders to frame me. It was his doing, yet the boss wants me to apologize to him. They have truly abandoned me."
"Cindy, call Liam and apologize," Monica said. "Just apologize as if it's another one of your acting jobs. You're the best at that, aren't you?"
Dumbfounded, Cindy stared at Monica in disbelief. She never expected Monica to treat her like that, especially after everything they had gone through.
She felt as if she was being attacked by all sides.
Not only had she been abandoned by her boss, but she was also abandoned by her manager, Monica.
It was a bitter pill to swallow. She looked at Monica and smiled sorrowfully.
Monica lowered her head. She could not bear to look at Cindy because her smile made Monica's whole body stiffen.
"Cindy, I can't protect you anymore," Monica said. "I'm sorry, I can't do it."
Cindy's smile turned even more sorrowful. "I'll make the call. You don't have to explain."
She took her phone and called Liam.
However, when Liam saw that Cindy was calling him, he ignored it and did not answer the call.
Gary glanced at Liam's phone. "Is Cindy looking for you?"
Liam nodded.
"Answer it," Gary said. "Let's see what she has to say."
Liam paused before replying, "I'm sure it isn't anything good."
"Then, let's see just how scared she is," Gary said, reaching over to answer it for him. He also put the call on speakerphone.
They heard Cindy's hoarse voice coming from the other end. "Liam, I'm sorry. You were oppressed because of me. I did everything I could to convince the boss to push you into the background. It's all my fault." Gary and Liam were shocked to hear her apologize.
"You wanted to oppress me? Do you have that much power?" he replied indifferently.
"I have my ways," Cindy said. "All of it was my idea. It had nothing to do with anyone else."
Liam was dumbfounded. He knew why Cindy said that.
"Someone made you take the blame, didn't they?" he asked.
Cindy was stunned for a moment. Then, she suddenly smiled and said in a bitter, self-mocking tone, "I didn't expect you to be so smart. It was indeed my suggestion to shut you out. I don't feel wronged at having to take the blame."
"Okay, I get it. Your manager was also involved," Liam replied.
Cindy had also put the call on speakerphone, so Monica was able to hear what Liam said. She was shocked too.
Cindy glanced at Monica and answered, "It has nothing to do with her."
Liam smiled. "Miss White, you're quite loyal to your manager. Alas, you'll still end up being abandoned."
It was obvious that he did not believe what she said.
Cindy was silent.
Monica could not help saying into the phone, "Liam, do you have any evidence to prove that I have something to do with this matter?"
Liam glanced at Gary.
Gary nodded at him.
"Of course. Monica, you've been too unjust this time. You didn't protect Miss White."
Monica's expression changed, and she looked embarrassed. "How dare you reprimand me. Liam, were you the one who circulated the news about the scandal?" Gary looked at Liam, shaking his head.
"No," Liam hurriedly denied.
"Even if it wasn't you, you surely had something to do with you," Monica refuted angrily. "We're going to call the police."
